Magic guard Vince Carter isn't exactly a next-door-neighbor to Tiger Woods, but he does live in the same Isleworth community just outside of Orlando, and he has been driving past the line of television trucks and various media people who were stopped from getting anywhere close to his home.

Carter said one of the reasons he lives there is the privacy it allows, which is something that has saved Woods from even more suffocating scrutiny during the scandal surrounding his weekend car crash outside his home.

The community, built around the Butler Chain of Lakes, is mostly hidden behind high walls and tight security. There is no easy entry without going past gates and guards.

"They do a great job of keeping it private,'' Carter said. "As you can see by what's going on now, it's very private. They (media) can't go in there at their leisure and ask him questions on his way to the mailbox. That's not going to happen.''

Carter, who is from nearby Daytona Beach, bought his home there a few years ago when he was playing for the New Jersey Nets. Shaquille O'Neal and Ken Griffey Jr., along with numerous professional golfers, live there.

"I do (feel bad for Woods). It was a wreck, or whatever, but because of who he is, everything is magnified. He's fortunate where he lives,'' Carter said. "His privacy is still somewhat protected at home. That makes me feel good. People aren't waiting outside the door for him.''
