The Nets and Mavericks have agreed to swap Eduardo Najera for Kris Humphries and Shawne Williams. To free up a roster spot, the Nets are expected to release Sean Williams, then waive Shawne Williams after the deal. The trade might not be finalized until the league office reopens Monday. Humphries is nine years younger and makes $100,000 less than Najera this season, but is owed $200,000 more in 2010-11.

Great trade for the Nets. Wooo

Kris Humphries is actually a good player, Najera is not AND we get Shawne Williams but cut Sean Williams, lol ironic. We never used Sean right anyway, he'll get signed somewhere else. Shawne on the other hand is a very talented player as well coming out college his freshmen year but never given the right opportunity yet.

No he isn't. He is a servicable 5th big man off of the bench who will have some good games here and there, but that is only when he plays within himself and doesn't think that he is a talented offensive player. Sadly, he gets caught up a little too often and forces things offensively, which drives fans nuts. If he just focuses on rebounding and playing defense he is a competent player, although still a far ways away from being close to considered good.

He could be a different player since his time with the Raptors as I haven't seen much of him since being traded.

The Nets may take a closer look at Shawne Williams rather than releasing him right away.

"We are not going to waive Shawne Williams at this time," Rod Thorn said. "He and (Kris) Humphries will come in tomorrow and do a physical. By Wednesday they should both be here."

But as it turned out, they are now officially over the cap themselves – honest, a 3-34 team over the cap, congrats, gents! And they don’t have enough of any trade exceptions left to absorb Dorell’s expiring $2.8M anyway.

So maybe they’re done, unless they can come up with a knucklehead-for-knucklehead swap down the road.

And this Shawne Williams is a capital-K knucklehead.

* June 2006: "This kid, I'm telling you, they can say what they want. He's going to be the sleeper of the draft,” John Calipari boasts, presumably after an evening of chugging cough syrup.

* Sept. 11, 2007: Busted on a marijuana charge and for driving without a license. His passenger, a Memphis pal, was arrested for carrying a gun that was reported stolen.

* Sept. 28, 2007: Fails to appear in court. When the judge asks his attorney why he didn’t show, the attorney replies, “I cannot tell you that, judge. I have not been able to reach him this morning."

* Feb. 2008: A friend wanted in connection with a Tennessee murder case (the same guy who had the gun) is arrested leaving Williams’ home in Indianapolis.

* Feb. 2008: “Whether it's your brother hanging around and getting in trouble -- your uncle, your cousin -- you've got to eliminate those people," Larry Bird screams into the void. “You've got to get them out of your life if you want to play in this league. This is a professional league. This is not a kid’s league.”

* 2007-08: Pacers let him get into 65 games when he isn’t on suspension, realize he can’t play even a little bit.

* June 2008: Bird says he has “had enough” of Shawne, that he’s “on very thin ice,” and that he’s shopping him for whatever he can get in return.

* Oct. 2008: He’s shipped to Dallas in a deal for the retired Eddie Jones, and he gets into 15 games.

* Oct. 2009: The Mavs just tell him to just stay away after a series of unreported transgressions.
