Broncos LT Clady tears up knee playing hoops

Broncos LT Ryan Clady tore the patellar tendon in his left knee while playing basketball recently.

As Clady confirmed, the injury required surgery. A 2009 All-Pro, Clady claims he'll miss only(?) three months of action. Profootballtalk.com suggests free agent Flozell Adams as an option in Denver, which makes sense with the Broncos installing a power-blocking scheme. Clady won't get a chance to learn the new system during minicamps and OTAs. Despite the optimistic timetable he's given himself, Clady seems unlikely to be ready for the start of training camp in late July. We'd consider him very questionable for Week 1.

Sharper Re-Signs With Saints

NFL.com - The Saints have re-signed safety Darren Sharper to a one-year deal, according to a league source.

Sharper had 71 tackles and nine interceptions for the Super Bowl-winning Saints last season. He returned three of those interceptions back for touchdowns.

He tweeted Monday, "To the entire WHO-DAT Nation, guess what? I'M BAACKK!"

Report: Jaguars interested in QB Brady Quinn

Josina Anderson of FOX 31 Denver reports that the Jaguars have interest in Brady Quinn and an unnamed pass rusher on the Broncos' roster.

The pass rusher, specifically a "DE/OLB," could be former first-round pick Jarvis Moss, who's been a bust in Denver and is likely available for cheap. Jags coach Jack Del Rio has been a fan of Quinn dating back to the 2007 draft, when he allegedly wanted to select the Notre Dame quarterback before the Jags took FS Reggie Nelson. According to Anderson, Nelson is available for trade. The Broncos' level of interest in him is unknown, but they're probably willing to part with Quinn after selecting Tim Tebow in the first round.

Cushing retains AP Defensive ROY after revote

Texans SLB Brian Cushing has retained his Defensive Rookie of the Year award after a re-vote by 50 writers for the Associated Press.

The outcome is surprising, but over the last two days it became increasingly evident that voters were bothered by the idea of a re-vote. The re-vote count, though, was much closer. Cushing received a whopping 39 first-place votes on the January 5 ballot. He garnered 18 votes this time. Bills S Jairus Byrd again finished second with 13 (he got six in January). Clay Matthews (10), Brian Orakpo (3), and James Laurinaitis (1) rounded out the re-vote's top five

Broncos to host Brian Westbrook Thursday

Free agent Brian Westbrook is currently en route to Denver for a visit with the Broncos on Thursday.

The Skins let him leave without a contract. In Denver, Westbrook would be an upgrade over J.J. Arrington as the Broncos' third-down back. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Broncos seem "serious" about signing Westbrook, whereas Washington and St. Louis appeared to only be kicking his tires. Denver offers a grass playing surface -- good news for Westbrook's knees.

Vikings QB Favre has surgery on left ankle; no word on 2010 status

Brett Favre posted a short statement on his Web site Friday, confirming he had arthroscopic ankle surgery that could clear the way for him to return to the Minnesota Vikings next season.

"This is to confirm that I did have a procedure to remove some scar tissue and bone spurs from my ankle which had been bothering me for a period of time," the quarterback said in the statement. "I appreciate your concerns."

Favre, 40, said earlier this month that his left ankle would require surgery for him to return to the Vikings in 2010. However, it wasn't known if the fact he had the operation means he definitely will play next season, and Favre didn't address that issue in his statement.

Saw that coming.

Colts DE Robert Mathis wants new contract

Robert Mathis is staying away from Colts OTAs reportedly because he wants a new contract.

The workouts are voluntary, so it's not a big deal yet. Mathis signed a front-loaded five-year, $30 million contract in 2006. Especially in comparison to more heralded, but only slightly less effective, bookend Dwight Freeney (six years, $72 million), Mathis has been severely underpaid two years running. The Colts, however, still have to make Peyton Manning the NFL's highest paid player as they've pledged. They may not be willing to renegotiate with Mathis, who's under control through 2011.

LenWhale released... lulz

He actually got released because he didn't gain enough weight this time and because he was going to receive a 4 game ban.

Titans got something from it at least

Seahawks fans, the true prize you guys got was Leon Washington anyway.

Shades or Stewart Bradley?

What?

Jackson carted off with leg injury

PHILADELPHIA -- Eagles starting free safety Marlin Jackson appeared to suffer a serious injury to his right leg at practice Tuesday.

Jackson, who has a history of knee injuries, had to be taken off the field in a cart. The Eagles are officially calling Jackson's injury a right ankle injury.

Jackson, who left the Indianapolis Colts to sign with the Eagles in March, suffered season-ending knee injuries the past two seasons and had surgery on both knees.

He missed the second half of 2008 with a torn ACL in his right knee and tore the ACL in his left knee in 2009.

ESPN.com

Team trainers helped Jackson limp off the turf. Jackson appeared to be favoring his right knee. After making it to the sideline, Jackson angrily punched the bubble’s wall and appeared to be sobbing loudly. After exiting the bubble with some of the medical staff, Jackson was taken by cart to the complex for treatment. He could be seen with his hands over his eyes as the cart drove away from the bubble and toward the complex.

What?

Stewart Bradley-LB- Eagles Aug. 2 2009 - 10:45 pm et

Eagles MLB Stewart Bradley will undergo an MRI after injuring his knee at training camp practice Sunday.

The Birds are holding their breath. They have a capable replacement in Omar Gaither, but Bradley is a difference maker and wears the headset to relay in play calls from the sideline. He's one of Philly's most valuable defenders.

 stop drinking.

Stop making comments off of second hand opinions, Marshawn Lynch does have the pt to be a top RB in the league he just doesn't fit into Buffalo's system, whoever gets him is going to be a lucky team.
