YugoRocketsFan
Kobe hate aside, I hope you're not serious. Maybe 4-5 years ago, but not today. I dont hate Kobe, I am just telling the truth. Kobe gets as much superstar calls as LeBron or Wade do.
fish7718
Kobe's defense on LeBron last season (in both games) was probably a top three I've seen anyone guard him, ever. And there wasn't much help. Phil doesn't allow anyone else to roam, defensively, and he jumps down their throat when they do. There were many instances where Bron took Bryant down into the post, and Kobe contested every shot, and was on him like a hawk on the perimeter as well. It's a reason why I don't understand Phil letting Artest get blown off the perimeter with LeBron. This season, LBJ would rather take guys like Artest off the dribble, and honestly, I feel Kobe would've done a better job. Either way, Kobe has more offensive skills, and it's not even close. Defensively, Kobe is the better on-ball defender, LeBron the better help defender...but the gap favors Bryant. It wouldn't be a debate if you left it at that, but LeBron's rebounding and finishing at the rim gives him more of a boost, and that's why I would say that, while Kobe is still the better overall player, LeBron is finally right behind him. How do you guard LeBron? You can't guard LeBron man on man it's impossible I don't care if Yao ming with the speed of chris paul and the skills of ben wallace the man is unguardable. Especially now that he is shooting 3's better than kobe. Kobe, being shorter, would have to be up in lebrons grill every second. LeBron, being faster, would just go right around. LeBron is a worse defender but he can let Kobe shoot 3's and give him some space because of his height and superior jumping ability. LeBron would win. Owner Real Deal Posted March 10, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted March 10, 2010 He did it twice last season...with minimal help. Sure, neither can defend the other without help, but Bryant did in fact have minimal help in both of those games, and he locked him up pretty good, despite having the flu in one of them, and dislocating a finger in the first quarter of the other one. But okay, LeBron is the most dominant player in the history of the game.
Owner Real Deal Posted March 10, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted March 10, 2010 By the way, this is the NBA. There is more to it than athletic ability. James has been biting on Kobe's pump fakes ever since he came into the league. He's also not smart enough to defend Bryant's post moves, which have shaken the life out of everyone from Raja Bell to Shane Battier, nailing their feet to the floor. Keep in mind, Shaquille O'Neal was dominant...but he sure the hell couldn't defend Hakeem Olajuwon because Hakeem was smarter and had a better offensive game. While Hakeem couldn't defend Shaq as well, he did a better job than Shaq did on him. Today, Kobe is Hakeem, and LeBron is Shaq. O'Neal may have been the most dominant center in NBA history (or at least next to Wilt), but Hakeem has always been the more complete player. Owner Real Deal Posted March 10, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted March 10, 2010 I think that would be a player who could successfully lock down Lebron. A player like that would average 40 PPG, 10 RPG, 10 APG and hold all of his opponents to 40% shooting or worse.

Yah, but Hakeem was so agile and had probably the best footwork in the history of history. For a bigman he had quicker feet than most guards, why? Cause he played the great and best sport called soccer which is known worldwide and enjoyed by billions. (Cant say that about any other sport, could we?) I am aware Kobe did play soccer too but his footwork isnt as good as Hakeem's.
Guest Jeff Colborn
LeBron I don't even see how this is a question at this point in their careers. LeBron is carrying a team with no stars to a 65+ win season for the 2nd year in a row. It's insane and he is literally unstoppable. Meanwhile Kobe has bad games and his team still manages to win. Kobe's supporting cast is amazing while LeBrons is comparable to Kobes when he couldn't even get out of the first round. And that was when Kobe was still explosive. Not any more. Nitro
LeBron. If for no other reason than there is a greater chance of Kobe's fallaway jumpers not going down at a high % compared to LeBron's drives to the rim. As good of a defender Kobe is, he is not stopping LeBron from getting to the rim with no help defense whatsoever. LeBron has the size, strength and speed all going for him, and it's not like the man can't shoot a jumper anymore...he's been hitting them at a very respectable rate the last year or two. Not to mention LeBron would be grabbing nearly every board on both the offensive and defensive glass, especially at this stage of Kobe's career where he doesn't have the spring to grab the 7-9RPG that LeBron can in a real NBA game. Check my Stats
Considering Kobe would rather launch 18 footers than get to the hole, LeBron would definitely have to be at least the favourite to win. LeBron can hit his jumper now, anyone who says he can't shoot is just ignorant, he pretty much has no holes in his game now.
