It's not exactly what we're looking for. During the NBA season (starting November), we take discussion seriously. We aren't looking to merge with any other site, or relocate. We've been around since 2005, nearly one million posts (which over half have been deleted due to a hack), and easily reaching 1,000+ posts per day in our prime. Of course, our worst months occur in the NBA offseason and heading into the preseason. Our direction seems different (regarding the two websites and how discussion is generated), and we have never merged with another site to begin with, so as far as that goes, it's out of the question for, honestly, any site.

Random Sixers Thoughts 2012-13
Real Deal replied to Phightins's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
I suppose this is related to the Sixers, so...how are the colors in the team forum? I had to change them up. The blue was really dark, red didn't match. :/ -
Sounds good. What happened to the site, anyway?

I'm going to start affiliating with other message boards and websites again, so if you know of anyone that would be interested, let them know. Just make sure that they are a credible site, and any message boards we affiliate need to have 500+ members, have been up for 9+ months, and have 50,000+ posts. Those number requirements aren't set in stone, and I may tag a couple of boards that are younger (and may decline others that meet the requirements), but it's just a general idea of what I'm looking for. As of right now, we're just in it to swap links. I'm not going to spend money to place an ad on their site, and I don't expect them to do the same thing. Relating to what sites we would be interested in, mainly your typical four sports (basketball, football, baseball and hockey). Video game sites would work, I suppose. We will also consider one-team sites (such as LakerNation) as long as they are basketball.

Welcome to the site. Any plans to stick around and join in on some of our discussions? We are looking to add to each of our fanbases (and especially the Nets fanbase), so we could use all the help we can get. If so, you can place your website and Twitter in your signature space, so each time you post your thoughts on a game, article, etc...you're basically promoting your links at the same time.

New banners (team banners soon)
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in DiscussHoops Announcements
Okay, all of the banners are up (no players), and I fixed the colors on probably 6-7 different team forums (some of them were just horrible...so sorry about that). Damn you guys for not telling me...because I know you had to have noticed, haha. -

Whoa...just realized a few of these forum colors are off. Bad. Had to have been my monitor. -
As far as Twitter goes, I've been pretty active on it all day long, but we only had 250 followers this morning. I'm up to nearly 300, but that's just from following about 200-300 people and hoping they follow back. Asked a question, made some statements, replied to some people...we'll see how it goes, I guess.

Not a big baseball fan, but that game was sick. I'm under the assumption that the A's are supposed to be out of it already, since a lot of people on my Facebook and Twitter thought the Orioles could win it all.

Valanciunas is going to be one of those defenders that goes after every single shot, lol...I can just see it happening. As a Raptors fan, you now have reason to smile...finally getting a defensive presence up front (well, he'll eventually be one, if he continues to work). The dude is Gasol long.

Done. And I also fixed the blue...didn't realize how off I was until I slapped the logo on there at 100% opacity. -
New banners (team banners soon)
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in DiscussHoops Announcements
I may go with the "logos only" idea for now, and if we change our minds, I can cut 60 players (lol). It's not that I don't want to do the cuts, since I have about 45 of them already...it's just the common theme we have been using every single year since 2005, so maybe we can take a different route. EDIT: Might be tough to do this, because Houston's logo is awkward by itself. Same with Miami's. Both aren't wide enough to cover enough area on the banner, and if I use larger versions of it, you can't even tell what it is (ex. Houston's doesn't look like an "R" anymore, just lines). Ugh. -

Three for logos only (so far). I'm going to keep the main forum banners the same, though. -
Nash is so niiiiiice. It's fun to have a PG in LA.

What looks better, guys... http://www.discusshoops.com/forums/forum/32-oklahoma-city-thunder-team-forum http://www.discusshoops.com/forums/forum/40-utah-jazz-team-forum I've been wondering if I should leave players off the banner for quite some time now. I wanted to wait to get these done, since media day was coming up and I probably started these way too early...but now I'm undecided. -
What will the Magic's starting lineup look like?
Real Deal replied to JMEWLS's topic in Orlando Magic Team Forum
I guess the good thing about starting Vucevic is that you have a legitimate big man in the lineup...but I just don't see him playing very many minutes because of his conditioning. Maybe that will change over time, but that's just my take. I could see Orlando being one of those teams that plays 30 different lineups, though, lol. Play a small team? Start Big Baby at the five. When they play, say, the Sixers and Andrew Bynum? Start Vucevic. -
The most significant player for the Phoenix Suns?
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Phoenix Suns Team Forum
For those saying Dragic, are you expecting him to run a similar offense that you saw with Steve Nash last year, or play similar? How productive do you think he should be scoring the ball? And since Beasley is the other player leading the poll, are you going to play him at PF or SF? And will his numbers go up because of the larger role, or will Dragic be a big reason for that (or both)? -

I'm going to follow about 150,000,000 people on Twitter, and see what happens.

OKC’s Alternate Unis Leaked?
Real Deal replied to Sħãlïq™'s topic in Oklahoma City Thunder Team Forum
Looks fake, honestly...especially with "Thudner" as the team name. -
We did that once, a long, long time ago...and most of the community didn't really care for it. Feels like we just can't balance the two together. We need new members to realize that veteran members post here (and have logged a ton of posts), so we don't lose that respect...but, at the same time, we have to make sure they aren't being looked down on by those members. I'd really like to know what exactly runs them off. I can't say that they are intimidated. I just feel like it's more about them not being familiar with how comfortable this community presents itself to be, where you can tell someone off as a joke, and it's funny to nearly everyone (for example). I mean, DemarDerozanDunk didn't have a problem fitting in because of the post counts...and I think it was more about the discussions he took part in (because he's a Raptors fan, and we have a few on board right now) and that people welcomed him in with open arms, for some reason. May have been because he came in to talk basketball. The toughest thing to do on a message board is recruit for teams that have no one representing them. I have had one Jazz fan come in and do his best to fit in, and honestly, it was only because he was running a website that we were affiliated with at the time. Then there's you. How many active Bucks fans have we had over the years? I know it's hard to discuss Bucks basketball here, because I can tell just by looking at the topics and replies. I think we have to find a way to effectively recruit for these "unwanted" teams, but at the same time, try and welcome Lakers fans (or Heat, Raptors, and Knicks fans) who want to join as well. I'm going to code an affiliations page, also, so we can start those back up. Maybe we can gain members from that, and in the process, we may lose some guys that feel like there's a better site out there...but that probably works in our favor as much as it does any other place, essentially swapping disgruntled members.
