Board upgrade and possibly new skin
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in DiscussHoops Announcements
http://realdealbneal.com/forums Not much different, really. There's a thing with the avatar that is bothering the hell out of me, though. They took it away. Your avatar (in posts) is now your profile picture...and it has to be a perfect square (at least it seems that way). There's a topic preview, but I don't care much for that...makes it easier for people to read topics, and they don't even have to enter each one (probably less posting). The only feature I'd like to have is the ability to see more details about your reputation, but I'm not so sure the sacrifice is worth it. -
I think most every cable company offers payment plans, I believe four payments of $45 or a one-time payment.

Board upgrade and possibly new skin

Refresh browser for a few header changes. Not sure if I want to do the board update yet, because there are still thinks I don't like about the new version (such as the avatar changes), but we'll see. -
Obama has frequently explained what he plans on doing, when it comes to nearly everything. He makes it very clear, sometimes giving you a "three step process" (just an example) and literally counting each step as he says them. Mitt will say he has a five-step process, then immediately after, he'll say that he "knows what it takes" to create jobs (this is one of his favorite lines, that he knows what it takes...and then he declines to explain). If Romney wants my vote, he's going to have to tell me what he means. Attacking Obama isn't going to get it done, and he should have realized that right after the first debate...one that he should have obliterated Obama in, since BO decided to play defense the entire time, but he really didn't do enough. Romney is going to put all of his chips on Obamacare. At the end of the day, that's really all he can do. In between this debate, and the third (and after that), he will need to continue telling people he will not give tax breaks to the rich...yet, he will be lying. Otherwise, his support from the middle class will dissipate. And, well, what happens when he opposes Obamacare? He has to tell his plan, and he doesn't necessarily have one. Once he puts it together, he'll have to admit to not allowing pre-existing conditions (like he stated months ago) OR he will have to change his position...and both are going to hurt him. I mean, man, these are just facts. Obama seems far more prepared to me, but even if he wasn't, what necessarily does he have to prepare for? Questions about Libya? Answering why he added to the debt? Those are the only two things Romney can try and hang him with. In addition to that...Romney should have never mentioned the gas prices in 2009 (when Obama took office). He opened the door for Obama to discuss the recession, and how gas prices fall before they spike (which is proven)...and, in the process, it gave him the green light to bust Romney's ass by saying that's the only way Romney will be able to drop them again, by initiating another recession. Those small mistakes will be remembered by voters. It's always going to be nearly impossible to change the way a Dem and Rep vote, but there are a LOT of voters on the fence, and I don't think Mitt can say (or do) enough to gain that support.

ECN, you keep asking if everyone else is mad, but your posts in this topic are suggesting it's actually you that's pissed off. Romney won the first debate, as Obama stayed in first gear most of that night. This second time around, I truly think Obama left Romney in the dust. Put this on my life...at one point, I honestly think Mitt wanted to tell the truth about a lot of things, but he can't. It's like how a man truly feels about immigrants, yet doesn't want to say it in front of a bunch of illegals...or how he/she feels about guns, but doesn't want to speak in front of hunters (for a living, or for sport). Romney's questions are loaded because he's the one holding the gun. Obama will give you an answer that you can basically verify by looking at the last four years and his beliefs, even if some of them were attempts (and even if they were failed attempts, you still know what his idea is). Romney can't tell you how he really feels about a lot of these topics, because it would be detrimental to his campaign. Here it is, in a nutshell: Romney knows he's not going to win this debate if he sticks to his guns (no pun intended). He knows he's going to have to talk sweet every now and then. You even know this, ECN, because I know you're not as big of a hard-ass Conservative as some of the people here in Kansas who STILL think Romney wasn't the right Republican candidate (and that Ryan is going to screw this up). Obama is going to be hard to defeat. I won't say it'll be Clinton vs. Dole all over again, but I just don't see how Obama can lose this.

Safe bet is Kyrie, both questions. I'm not sure if anyone on the site, other than ABL, would stick their neck out there for Wall. I mean, it's not THAT big of a stretch, and people kick dirt on John Wall without actually watching him play...but we saw what both did with bad teams last season, in regards to their own personal numbers, and you just have to go with Kyrie right now. Wall is the more accurate passer, and he's quick...but Irving can give you more of an overall game in that 94 feet of court. Five years from now, it could be different. We saw how things changed with Rondo. At one point, he was a borderline all-star, starting all games for Boston in his second season (which was their championship year), and two years later, he became an all-star PG and top five in the NBA (and people will argue top three now).

It's $179 for those in the US. As long as you have a decent computer, you'll be fine...but if you plan on just getting broadband and paying for that every month, you might as well just spend the $179 because, by the time you close out the NBA season, that's around the amount you'll pay (total)...think it's like $30 a month for broadband, and with six months of basketball (regular season), you're better off paying for the package.

It's a lot of basketball. I get it every year. The blackouts I have to go through are for OKC and Denver, but the OKC games are on cable where I live, FSN OKC. It's great for me, though, because I don't get all of the Lakers games...and I know they are on National TV a lot, but I want to have that option to see whichever game I please, too. Being in Kansas, I can't do that without LP. I also realize a lot of fans just want to see their favorite team(s), but there are a lot of times I'll dive into a meaningless game, just to learn about the players and teams. A Bobcats/Wizards game didn't mean anything to me last year (different conference, non-playoff teams), but if I didn't want to watch the Lakers blow out the Wolves, I'd click down a channel or two and see who else is playing.

Board upgrade and possibly new skin
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in DiscussHoops Announcements
Yeah, it's definitely considered a process. I have to preserve the skins, member avatars, emoticons, and image folders (ex. the banners, topic markers)...and then overwrite all other folders that include the actual message board files. So, I have to turn the board offline. It's thousands of files, so the uploading is what takes up most of the time. Once I get done with that, the upgrade process is usually a click-through routine up until skin files are re-cached. -

Any of you that were using Tapatalk...can you please verify that it works now? I just updated URL's and necessary files, and in a while, I'll upload the new image. Once I upgrade the board, I'll also install a new version of Tapatalk with it. -
Board upgrade and possibly new skin
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in DiscussHoops Announcements
Haha, were you serious about the fluid width, or cracking a joke and being different? I actually like fluid width, also...both are fine to me. I would much rather design the website portion as fixed, though, but I'm willing to adjust according to what you guys prefer with the message board, since the forums are the most important. -

Board upgrade and possibly new skin
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in DiscussHoops Announcements
LOL, so much for that question. -
I'm considering the board upgrade (to the newest version), and if I do that, I'll have to design a new skin. The skin won't change TOO much, but even if it does, I want to keep the current banners. Would you guys prefer a fixed width on the board, or fluid (one that stretches across the page)? I may have to alter the banners a little, if we go with a fluid width...but I'm sure I can come up with something.

I was wondering who would bring him up first, haha. He put up that 20/5/5 that everyone wishes they could do as a rookie, and I remember comparing them to LeBron's rookie numbers, just for the sake of discussion. To be fair, though, the Kings were playing him three different positions...but a lot of his problems are his fault as well.

Bynum to miss three weeks of action for Sixers
Real Deal replied to Real Deal's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
Yeah, it shouldn't, given that it's just an injection. If it was during the season, he would probably miss just one game. -

So, yeah...there are Lakers fans who are saying he was having this done a lot, but I don't remember that. Twice a year isn't a lot. I'm going to assume they give him this particular injection near the beginning of the season, though (meaning, now), and then another during the season, sometime. That's just a positive way of looking at it. In a negative light (because you know I have to, lol), I figured he wouldn't need this right now, simply because he just had his operation AND I believe one injection already (a non-surgical procedure), but I don't know. Just saying...this is the shit I didn't like about having him on my favorite team. I always watched his knees when he was down low, prayed for his legs not to snap, and every single time he even gave any indication that he was hurting (even the slightest limp, which will happen a LOT), I anticipated the bad press conference. -
http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/1015/bos_a_brady_sherman_600.jpg I will say this, though...I never really liked players doing this, because I remember this picture from 2008: http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Kobe+Bryant+Doc+Rivers+NBA+Finals+Game+6+Los+WvblMV-_j_ll.jpg When ESPN put it up on their main page, and added a caption saying something like, "All jokes aside, the Celtics are 2008 champs." If I still remember that, I know Kobe had that embedded into his brain up until 2010.
