  1. I would use it on Green on the 5 year 45 million dollar deal they will inevitably give him.
  2. Raja Bell. Kind of makes sense, but I admitted on it that i am a bad defender which is odd, doesn't help I am usually left defending points because I am only around 6 feet, but definitely not quick enough to stay in front of them, especially laterally. My best quality is definitely my spot up shooting or pulling up on the break, not particularly good at getting my own shot though, but I will take care of a mismatch if I have one. I am more surprised that OTR is full of basketball superstars lol.
  3. God that game last night stung as bad as any in recent memory. It is the kind of game we really need to win, and kind of makes the win vs Pittsburgh moot. Gus has been okay, but we need Reimer back. We can't play good hockey when we aren't sure if our goalie will stop dump ins or not.
  4. This is great news. I agree he will wait until Jonas is coming over before making any big moves. I also think he will spend that time listening to offers for Andrea (or at least I hope). There is no point rushing things at this point, and I am glad BC recognizes this as well.
  5. Pretty sure players, especially young ones, don't want their contracts front loaded, and it is also against the rules to front load a contract like that, this isn't the joke of a league the MLB. It all depends on the new CBA and what other teams are offering. I think 4 years 30M is something I wouldn't be opposed to my team offering (even though we don't really need him).
  6. I don't know what it will take for Quick to win the fans and the organization over. He was solid all last year, and was especially stellar in the series vs San Jose last year in the playoffs in my opinion (I would know, I was loaded with SJ guys in my fantasy pool and he helped keep it close), he was taking over 38 shots a game on average. By no means do I think Quick is an elite goalie or a yearly vezina candidate, or the kind of guy who can single-handedly carry a team, but I think he is definitely a terrific goalie to build with moving forward, especially considering he is only 25 in his 3rd full season (his rookie year he only had 44 games but I guess you can count it, in which case this is his 4th).
  7. I think the problem is you associate yourself with idiots. Quit being ignorant, your topic obviously depends entirely on the circumstances.
  8. Jonas in net. Great, really not holding my breathe for a win tonight. Just hope we can at least play a good game tonight and not get blown out like in Boston.
  9. Going to ESPN was the NHL's real opportunity to cash in on the lockout. It doesn't matter how awesome hockey is, or the fact that their playoffs are > any other sports, as long as no one knows what is going on, and they have no coverage on ESPN (I assume, I live in Canada so...) it isn't going to have a huge impact. NHL attendance ratings, I believe, are already pretty close to on par with the NBA's. Viewership is where they struggle, and as long as they're on versus I don't see it changing. I think what hurts the NHL the most, is that the best players (forwards mostly) are only on the ice 1/3 of the game, while in the NBA and other sports, the most marketable players, or the draws for fans, are in the game almost the entire time.
  10. The Habs hosed themselves (so many bad/dumb penalties). Besides, we would have had a draw in your end, and that is arguably as good, if not better of an opportunity for us to score. You probably wouldn't have even been in the game if Gionta didn't behead our goalie.
  11. A polished McGee sounds good enough to me. Then a Joe Johnson type of wing player, just a good solid all around wing in the coming draft would be nice.
  12. And that's the thread ladies and gentlemen.
  13. If there is an amnesty I hope it is because the system is being overhauled. If the system is the same (more or less) and teams are getting an amnesty, then that just sucks.
  14. I don't understand why he was moved to defense, because of his shot? He is out of position all the time and backchecks only half the time.
  15. Also Kessel is getting a ton of credit, and rightfully so, but no one should overlook what Dion is doing either. He is logging huge minutes, has a ton of shots, is staying out of the box and is a +8, dude is straight beasting, and has been since the all-star break last year. Also Colborne is beasting in the AHL right now with 7 points in 4 games. It is awesome how Burke has managed to restock our pathetic pool of prospects in such a short time, even when he sold our soul for Kessel.
  16. The thing that is different with Kessel right now is that I used to always think of him as an opportunist. He would thrive off turnovers, broken plays, open ice rushes, etc. Right now though, I feel like he is creating his own opportunities to both score, and set up his teammates. There is obviously no way he continues this pace, but as long as his effort stays at this level, and he doesn't let up/get discouraged when the puck inevitably stops going in every 3 to 4 shots for him, he is not going to be the last pick at the all-star game, let's just say that. As much as I hate to see a guy get hurt, I am excited that Nazem will be joining the big club as a result. Even more so, I think Kadri-Bozak-Frattin has potential to be an awesome 3rd line energy line for us if Armstrong is out an extended period. Sounds like Clarke is out tonight too. Would like to see him get a shot on the Grabo line, could be a good boost for them, but it is probably pretty likely that Frattin gets the spot, which is fine because I am more and more impressed with the kid each passing game. As for tonight, it is going to be a tough game to say the least. If we play like last night, we won't win, or even be close, bottom line. We need to come out with energy from every line from the start, Boston is a team we can't be playing from behind on. Komi needs to be scratched, Schenn needs to get more time and figure out what is wrong and regain his form... he isn't going to regain his confidence sitting on the pine. But yeah, special teams, and secondary scoring, as usual are the two issues that need to be ironed out. Excited Nazem is probably going to be playing.
  17. I'd be doing the opposite. Accumulate more young talent to put around Kanter/Favors.. try and get one of those sought after wings in the coming draft
  18. Some of the responsibility has to be put on the Raptors organization as well. There is no accountability for our team, ever. Sure it'd be nice if players were always self-motivated, but a lot aren't. If Bargnani is hurting us (which he clearly is), then he needs to get his ass plotted on the bench. I guarantee you if he missed extended minutes/got less shots we would see him at least making an effort.
