Well, we played some decent hockey after that atrocious first period. Kessel looked great to me, which is something you won't hear often from me. The Grabo line looked meh, but Frattin was transparent and the line will surely improve with Macarthur back. Reimer was rock solid all night. Fun game to watch after that horrible first period.

Kind of sucks to see him play behind an inferior player in Komisarek (same with Aulie IMO) because of the numbers game. Hopefully we can make a move for a competent forward to clear up room to get this kid some minutes.

I hope Gardiner can come in and do a solid job, but I have my doubts. He is so young and had such a good pre-season, it is hard to not have sky high expectations. I too expect he will be sent down with Aulie coming back up, but I would be ecstatic if he played well enough to stick. Regardless, it is clear this kid is going to be good, probably sooner than later too. Sounds like Connolly is out for tomorrow's game (shocker right) so that means we will be back to Bozak on the first line more likely than not. It sucks missing two key guys from our top 6 for the first few games because we need to get out of the gate solid and that first line hasn't really had a chance to mesh. Knew our team had a lot of 'ifs', but dammit Connolly. Happy 24th birthday to Phil Kessel, here is to many more years of you not meeting the fans' ridiculous expectations for you! Pretty crazy, it will be interesting to see if Punk can maintain his super overness right now. He is definitely fun to watch, just hope the WWE and Punk himself can keep it fresh. I can't help but feel a lot of Punk's popularity lately is because of who he has been feuding with (Cena). He has always been over, but didn't get to this level until he got in the ring with Cena.

Getting good reviews, won't spend my own money on it though. Put it on my Christmas list, so let's see if I get it that way, otherwise it'll have to wait until I have a lot of dispensable cash.

Taylor Hall skates into the corner out of control and skates right into Edler's elbow, and Edler is probably going to get a small suspension for it. Why are you so surprised? This isn't the first time they have met for a huge chunk of time and made no progress. Once we start losing games, or the entire season, that is when we will start seeing progress, IMO.

Watching Kessel and Lombardi fly up and down the ice should be fun. My main hope is that Lombardi can be a solid 3rd liner for us, and play 65 games or so, his health is my primary concern. Clarke is having his hearing today for the hit last night vs the Wings. My expectation is tonight's game and 2 regular season games. I'd like to see the Wings player get a game for diving though. There was definitely some head contact and the hit is for sure reviewable, but he definitely oversold it. I can definitely see players flopping becoming a concern, incidental contact to the head seems like it is going to be 2-3 games, and players will sell that shit. It is going to be interesting to see what happens when Ovechkin throws his first hit to the head, is he going to get the games everyone else is? EDIT: sounds like it is going to be 2 regular season games. So annoying.

Seriously. Wade clearly isn't ignorant. He knows he is one of the 7-10 players who are the driving forces behind the league making money.
