I don't see all those kids staying in there for 35 takes of this. OldChili, you're pretty adamant about not liking the shot That's insanely difficult. That insanely difficult without the flip.

Griffin vs. Hansborough, 2009 NBA combine..
alcstarheel replied to Warren2ThaG's topic in NBA Draft History
Attributes are pretty similar but totally different games and potentials. I loved Tyler but he's going to have a rougher time adjusting than Blake will. Raw ability and the chance to improve on it usually translates to the league better than a game that, for the time being and for the most part, has seemed to rely on hustle. -
Truth...getting drafted in the second round just means the team expects more of you when you try to get a contract. You still have to compete with established Euros, D-Leaguers, and the non-draftees. Once the first round is done it's a whole new ball game for those guys.

What's so bad about Zach Randolph?
alcstarheel replied to Multi-Billionaire's topic in General NBA Discussion
His offensive production is mired by all the output he puts out to get it. The bad output at that. Then you see him resting on the defensive end and you wonder what you were thinking when you traded for him. He would need to be on a team with an alpha-dog veteran that wouldn't put up with his on-court and off-court crap. Someone that isn't going to let him just lolligag on the court and then go eat some cookies after the game. He'll never be a winner in this league if that doesn't happen for his betterment. -
Do you follow teams or individual players?
alcstarheel replied to Mike Hawk's topic in General NBA Discussion
I actually dislike every player when they play the Lakers, even players that I have liked since they appeared in the league. Boozer, TP, Wade, 'Melo, Grant Hill, even the Carolina players a little bit. It's a whole different mindset when I see them making baskets on or defending my team. -
Taco Bell new NBA fast-food sponsor
alcstarheel replied to The Goods's topic in General NBA Discussion
That's pretty huge...McDonald's has been with the NBA almost my whole lifetime. I have to say that the league took a pretty big drop in the fast food relationship with this one. Oh well, I ate at the Bell on Tuesday before I heard the announcement...won't change my habits -
Looks like he's coming to L.A., which would be HUGE for us. Talk about a defensive upgrade. Not just at the position, but as a mentality for our team. You got Kobe working hard on D, you got Artest working hard on D, you have no more excuses when you aren't. If this happens, I am sad to see Ariza go. He was more than pivotal for us, and I called it all last postseason and offseason. Losing Bynum wasn't the big issue for us last year. It was Trevor. But one thing that you have to look at is stats. Besides FG% (which was a pretty big gap), Artest best Ariza in almost every category, even three point shooting. Artest was 40% from downtown last year. Most of that was off the dribble or off step backs, whereas Trevor's was on spot up, but I think Ron can make the shift. Let's make this happen!

Dahntay Jones Receiving Interest From 5-6 Teams
alcstarheel replied to A.K.'s topic in General NBA Discussion
You beat me to it I can't see many non-running teams showing too much interest. If he isn't slashing he's a liability on offense. Not to mention that he was basically playing half the game as a starter, so if these teams salivating over him are trying to move him into an impact player for them, it's not going to go well for them. -
I wear Nike exclusively. I used to wear adidas. The Promodel 2G is one of my most favorite shoes of all time, easily. It's definitely in the top 5. They stopped making those, Kobe switched to Nike, so I started with the 2K4 and haven't looked back. Part of my collection: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2144796&id=16923247&l=c73e154723 Hurry up and look before Jammin makes my collection look anorexic

It's more difficult to improve defense, especially in this day and age. Like Erick said, people want to see results. It isn't hard skill-wise to improve defense, but the effort, intensity, and willingness to play defense is what holds players back. Since that part of it is very hard to break in a player, that is when the difficulty in improvement comes. Don't forget, though, that there are certain tools you need to play defense outside of just heart. Lateral movement is probably the main one that is overlooked. That is something that is hard to teach because a lot of guys are born with it and a lot aren't. You look at guys like T-Mac who could be a great defender if he actually gave the effort. His lateral quickness is at or above average, his length on the court would be hard to get around, and he's athletic. But when you look at when he came into the league up to now, his offensive game is what improved the most.

I've seen it a few times before, even with correct links. A couple of refreshes usually brings it back.

I borrowed it from a friend on DVD about a year ago and watched it from start to finish. Caught the tail-end of it on USA tonight. It is a really good movie. I like it, at least. Not overwhelming action but it kept a good flow. Jennifer Connelly's eyes...mmm mmm

If that link at the bottom works well enough for you guys we'll be able to stick a New Posts button under the banner when we get around to it.

I thought it was funny You got a very white girl country singer coming out and rappin, then you got T-Pain actually being okay with doing it. That's pretty coo. "She didn't even swear."

For a while it didn't seem like the forum I put so much work into was going to be a good place to celebrate my team winning it all. After a few days I still checked up on things but I wasn't posting. And if you want a real coincidence, I finally posted the day before we lost everything :o My last ever thread on the old OTR was Shaliq's KIR

Until we figure a workaround, you can set the board to watch every topic you reply in. That's a board setting that we have to see how we can change, if we can change it.

I'm seeing it Friday or Saturday...it looks schweet!

Devin. I have him with the bigger upside, with the more polished offensive game, and with the wherewithal to take a team on his shoulders, take the pressure of being dealt for Kidd to come back strong, and the passing will come. Besides the highlighted steals that Rondo gets, I have Harris with the better defense as well.
-
Gordon...more lethal scorer if he's the main option, pretty good 3-point shooter in his own right, and he has more time left.
-
Jason Kidd can pretty much fit in any situation, so you definitely take him over Iverson at this point. Iverson needs a system around him to work with him.
