Why is it assumed that the older players are more skilled though? The game has changed and that skill is now mixed in with unreal athleticism. This team has the advantage at the 1, 3 and 4 and Kobe/Wade aren't as far off from Jordan/Drexler as we think. You're underrating Wade big time here. Kobe's showing he's still got it this season. I can't stand Derrick Rose and even I think there's no way Magic having not played basketball in an entire year and an injured Stockton could keep up with him. 2012 is just a matchup nightmare IMO.
-
The first paragraph doesn't make any sense to me. He won the MVP, over Jordan so now he's unguardable and impossible to slow down? Just look at the matchups. LeBron or Kevin Durant is a tough matchup for anyone, no matter what the era. They both present serious matchup problems with their combination of size and quickness. As for Wade. His stats/accolades top just about everyone on that list minus West and maybe Gervin and his career isn't over. But that's another debate for another time. I'm sure MJ would play great no matter who guarded him, but the notion that Magic Johnson who hadn't played basketball in a year coud stop Derrick Rose is absurd. You can't just take off for a year and defend the reigning NBA MVP no problem. 2012 Kobe has a much better shot at defending Mike than Magic would Rose. And IMO you could possibly throw LeBron on MJ at times but if you throw Pippen on Rose then that team would either play with no PG on the floor or throw Magic on Kobe, Durant or LeBron. No one is saying 2012 in a route (actually I think ECN did), but I think they'd have to be favored in this game.

So being a Heat fan obviously means I don't think the Dream Team would blow out the 2012 team? Glad your reasons at least had to do with basketball http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif
-
The reasons you gave have almost nothing to do with them playing basketball against this 2012 team and are pretty much based off of nostalgia. You say Barkley (MVP at the time) uhh, I'm pretty sure this year's team is going to have the MVP on it as well. Stop acting like Magic was in his prime in 92. He hadn't played basketball in a year! He's not going to be able to stay with Rose or Paul they're just too quick. Its like you're just disregarding today's NBA players. Obviously the 92 team is going to have the better resume but you can't go by that.
-
Lol so you're just going to disregard today's NBA player? Who gives a [expletive] if they were "trying to emulate" the guys on the Dream Team? This team has Derrick Rose, who is the only point guard that quick and explosive off the dribble in league history. Kobe Bryant's not so bad and oh yeah, Dwyane Wade who's arguably the third best SG ever comes off the bench for this team along with CP3 who has a similar skillset to Stockton but he's never had someone like Malone to play with until Blake came along . Durant and LBJ are matchup nightmares and yeah while Pippen was a great defender he can only guard one of them. If you move Durant to the 4, at 6'11 he'd shoot right over Chuck and his quickness would be too much. Stop acting like today's players can't stack up to the guys in the 80's and 90's. That logic is absurd. This 2012 is loaded with talent and everyone minus Kobe is in their primes. The 92 team couldn't say that. And funny you mention Chris Mullin, listening to the BS report he made it sound like the Dream Team would have no shot against this years team. You're going off of reputation of the 92 team when in reality, Magic had lost a step and hadn't played in a year. Stockton was hurt and wasn't a great defender. There's no way those guys can deal with the quickness of a Rose/Paul. Not only that but Ewing and Robinson were at the very beginning of their primes and neither was probably as good as Dwight is right now. There's absolutely no way you can say the Dream Team and its not even close.
-
LeBron has 20 lbs on Barkley. You think Barkley is quick enough to keep up with LBJ on the perimeter? LBJ could possibly back him down as well with that height/weight advantage.
-
LMFAO @ Magic in 92, post HIV, not having played basketball in a year IIRC being better than the current NBA's reigning MVP. I hate Derrick Rose but that's a joke. How is Charles Barkley gonna stop the current LeBron James?
-
Really though, tell my what's wrong about what I said? That Magic post-HIV or Stockton would have trouble guarding Derrick Rose the reigning NBA MVP? Or that LeBron at the 4 is a total mismatch against almost anyone? I know 92 is littered with HOF'ers but this team has at least 5 and could possibly end up with 10. You gotta realize that Bird and Magic were a shell of what they once were. Its not like Laettner played. Their big advantage is inside with 2 true 7 footers.
-
I'm sorry, but a 92 Magic or Stockton does not > Derrick Rose right now. MAYBE Stockton but you honestly think he could stay in front of Derrick Rose? Larry Bird was on his last legs back then..absolutely no shot he can contain Durant or LBJ. Oh, and you really think Charles Barkley can stop LeBron James? The LeBron James we're watching this season? I don't think so. The only real advantages 92 has are with MJ and inside with Ewing and Robinson compared to Dwight and Chandler.
-
Elaborate on that. I'm leaning 2012 as well. Dream team has a big advantage size-wise though.
-
I take it you're trying to add more bulk?
-
OKC, Portland and Utah are the top 3. And Miami can definitely be a crazy atmosphere, just look at the Knicks game. Even the TNT guys mentioned it at one point. Our crowd isn't the best in the NBA but when it comes time for a big game they show up and get very loud.
-
Really? Even though Magic hadn't played in a year and Bird could barely walk? IMO its a lot closer than most people think.
-
Who you got? Dream Team: Magic Johnson/John Stockton Michael Jordan/Clyde Drexler/Chris Mullin Larry Bird/Scottie Pippen Charles Barkley/Karl Malone/Christian Laettner Patrick Ewing/David Robinson 2012 Team: Derrick Rose/Chris Paul/Russell Westbrook or D-Will Kobe Bryant/Dwyane Wade Kevin Durant/Carmelo Anthony LeBron James/Kevin Love/Blake Griffin Dwight Howard/Tyson Chandler

Yeah they are. There were riots in Orlando I heard. Pretty crazy especially for the foamposite's that came out.

Paul.

Got the ones in the middle(LeBron) and on the right(Durant): http://www.highsnobiety.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/nike-basketball-2012-nba-all-star-sneakers-1.jpg

Yeah I'm doing my arm workouts now with less weight/more reps, concentrating on my form and I can already see the results. I'm still doing a lot of weight for shoulders/traps because they aren't where I want them to be yet size-wise.
-
Norris Cole balled, that's all I wanted to see. Oh, and Greg Monroe is a huge loser for stealing Wall's alley oop pass like that at the end.
-
I'm shocked that Vinny has 7 points lol. Kevin Hart is actually pretty decent too.

He's a recovering alcoholic dude. That's something that'll follow him for life and he had a relapse one night. He should be commended for how he's hard he's fought all the adversity that the disease brings his way and the success he's had doing so. Its like if Wade left Miami to be honest. If he saw a better opportunity out there in his mind then yeah it'll suck but it is what it is. Its his life he's gotta do what he sees best for him. And its not trolling if its true lol. -

Is he a FA? I mean if he feels like he has a better opportunity somewhere else then he has the right to explore his options. It'll be tough to leave an organization who stood by him through such tough times though.
