George Karl an Inspiration to Cancer Victims
Flight replied to NJNJ's topic in Denver Nuggets Team Forum
That's awesome that chemo is free there. With some types, it can be cured most of the time obviously, I mean skin cancer isn't very dangerous anymore, and stuff like that is a tossup but depends on the time and aggressiveness of the cancer. With pancreatic cancer, if they find it, regardless of when, you have about a 5% chance you'll live more than 5 years from that date. I wrote my senior paper on this, I have a huge background of it now, I'm writing a book about cancer and the funding problems that arrise from the many varieties... but long story short, 34,000 people a year in the US get diagnosed with PanCan, and about 33,500 die from it. That's in the #1 country on earth when it comes to cancer treatment. I don't mean to hijack this thread since this doesn't relate to Karl directly, but simply put, at some point many cancer victims have to begin to take faith and realize that the odds are against them, and to make the best of it. -
I stopped playing games mostly (like maybe once or twice a month) once I got my driver's license... I mean once you have wheels and better things to do with spare time, games are pretty boring. Life>Virtual Reality.

:/ Not the #1 target I hoped for.

George Karl an Inspiration to Cancer Victims

I watched the full cycle of cancer over a span of about 9 months, and that was one of the worst things I've ever seen. 40 pounds is a lot, but my Dad lost over 100 pounds in that time, and more than 50 in the last 3 months. Hope is a huge thing, but when it comes down to it, even lots of money can't cure all types. For those of you that are at all interested and want to be educated, research Pancreatic Cancer a little. Try to tell me money can cure that. With chemotherapy costing over $5,000 a session, and needing at the very least 8 sessions to show results, it is a very expensive process, but hope really does outweight money when it comes down to it. -
lol Chris is my man

I just got done watching the Kings play Minnesota, and let me say that Cousins looks like one of the top centers in the league. He's going to improve a bunch, but right now he's already very skilled in the post, physically dominant, a much better passer than I had realized (he had a couple amazing passes to Donte Greene, who looks very good too btw), and most of all, he's playing in his role. He had I believe 22 and 12 tonight, hit the game winner (a tough 10 foot hook over Patrick O'Bryant) with 2.8 seconds left after calling for the ball (sure, you could say he's selfish, but he's confident and it paid off). All in all, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's the rookie of the year, an all star, or a future MVP. I think he's that good, and I do see immaturity but he's only what, 19 years old? I'd be immature too if I had the access to millions by playing a game for a living. That'll change with time.

http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/news/_/id/5378712/french-striker-thierry-henry-signs-deal-new-york-red-bulls Good to hear he'll get to be a main player again, and we'll get to see him in the US.

I guess not, always thought getting head was part of the plan.

I want to see him win a championship, it's the only thing he really hasn't done.

John Wall makes Summer League debut tonight
Flight replied to JWaLL's topic in Washington Wizards Team Forum
OMFG GYULA <3 I miss when Nick Young was able to show he was good. Wall looks good minus the turnovers so far. -
Huge signing, underrated guy that scores around 20 every year.

I just had a beautiful 3 paragraph response that would have warranted about 394394 + reps, then my internet crashes when I click post... can't get it back. :'( Basically, I don't see NO wanting to make that deal... money wise, doesn't make sense, roster wise, Thornton is already gonna score about as much as JRich. No need for another SG. Utah makes sense, AK doesn't play as much for Utah and with Matthews gone, a SG is needed.

I guess that's the thing... I'm a smart player, but when I'm on the floor I subconsciously make the right read, I guess because my instincts are a natural version of thinking things out.

Nuggets Might Be Willing To Trade Carmelo
Flight replied to Sportsguy9695's topic in Denver Nuggets Team Forum
Batum, Fernandez, Pryzbilla, and picks for Melo please? -
Insects? Yeah, they don't last very long. But I get what you're saying, but how do instincts go away? It's what you feel, not what you think about, which can go away.

Kinda reminds me of Fireworks, I mean all of his new album, but Fireworks especially.

Hornets get head. Yes.

Nice, awesome defender and cheap contract. If Brewer is re-signed that'd be two lockdown defenders on the team, so probably one on the court at all times. And Brandon, I think so... I bet Conley gets traded soon, if not he'll be a top notch bench PG.

Melo and CP3 join the Knicks? Then... They have a nice trio in Amare, Melo, and CP3... that would make for a nice ECF matchup.

Free herpes for everyone, awesome.

I was just thinking about myself as a basketball player... I'm a point guard, and I'm a pretty average athlete for an 18 year old (very light, not very strong, decent hops, good quickness... great top end speed, but that doesn't benefit a basketball player for much more than fast breaks), but I'm a good defender, good passer, and decent all around player. I shoot a high percentage, but I've realized that's largely due to shot selection. That said, I also adjust a lot on the fly, and most of my scoring baskets come as unnatural tear drops and layups. So this makes me wonder, what's more important for a player, instincts or I.Q.? I understand the offense, but I'm not really one of those players that's always two steps ahead. I'm on the same page as everyone, but I don't really know where to go, as much as I just seem to pass where it seems right. On defense, I don't gamble much, but I still get a ton of steals in passing lanes. It's just that I have a feel for where the ball's gonna be, moreso than me knowing the other team's tendencies. As an on-ball defender, I do the things like face guarding and little mind games (like poking the guy when he goes up for a shot... try it. Just stick a finger into his gut a little, not even really that hard, just repeatedly... gets in their head, and the refs never call it), but at the same time I think my defense is mostly thanks to my ability to react and feel for where someone's going. Then again, defense is very much effort-oriented, more than offense. I give 100% all game, so maybe that's why I'm a better defender than scorer. So for those of you that read that, or those that don't want to, what do you feel is more important to a basketball player? Instincts, or I.Q.?
