TAHITI ENSURES PLACE IN THE 2013 CONFEDERATIONS CUP With 20 goals in five games and victories in all their matches, the Tahiti national side won the Oceania Nations Cup New Zealand somehow couldn't manage to beat several tiny island nations, Tahiti won the OFC Nations Cup by beating New Caledonia 2-0 to book their place in Brazil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_OFC_Nations_Cup And don't count this bunch out for a return trip to Brazil in 2014! They now join Brazil (obviously), Uruguay, Japan, Spain, and Mexico. Now we just need the Euro 2012 and African Cup of Nations winners.

Larry Bird wants to stay with Pacers
Sħãlïq™ replied to Sportsguy9695's topic in Indiana Pacers Team Forum
Bird's not the only one: Hibbert would prefer to stay in Indiana INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Roy Hibbert wants to keep playing basketball in Indiana, and the Pacers intend to make their All-Star center happy. It will just come down to dollars and sense. "Of course this isn't going to be his last time in Indy, he's not going anywhere," Pacers coach Frank Vogel said with a smile shortly Thursday before playing in the Caroline Symmes celebrity softball game, which benefits the Indiana Children's Wish Fund. Hibbert is one of six Indiana players who could become a free agent July 1, and at 7-foot-2, he could become one of the hottest commodities on the market. http://www.nba.com/2012/news/06/07/pacers-hibbert.ap/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt2 -
Popovich: Unraveled Spurs 'reached our limit' Posted Jun 7 2012 7:09PM SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Injuries weren't a factor for once. Neither was depth. The San Antonio Spurs finally were healthy, and had the supporting talent and even the momentum of a historic winning streak crafted at the perfect time to become NBA champions again. And it still wasn't enough. "I thought this was definitely our time. Our time to get back to the finals. Our time to push for another championship," Spurs forward Tim Duncan said. "That was our singular goal, and obviously, it ends here." He meant this season. But it might also be a deeper truth. On Thursday, coach Gregg Popovich passed on speculating what's next after the Duncan era-Spurs possibly saw their championship window close shut -- for real this time. Duncan, who is 36 and now without a contract, has suggested this year that he is leaning toward returning for at least a 16th season, but there are no guarantees. The Spurs were up 2-0 on Oklahoma City and appeared to be a lock for the NBA Finals, before the young and hungry Thunder finished a stunning turnaround Wednesday night to win the Western Conference. No Extension For Tyreke Evans? HANG TIME PLAYOFF HEADQUARTERS – Could Tyreke Evans go from Rookie of The Year to not even receiving a contract extension on his rookie deal from the Sacramento Kings? It appears so. Three years into his career, Evans has shown flashes of All-Star potential, but he’s also been moved from the point guard position he played during his rookie season. A career 18.2-point scorer, Evans saw his job as starting point guard eventually go to rookie Isaiah Thomas this season. Evans did start 61 of 63 games this season, but was in an off-guard position once Thomas took the point guard reins. Now comes word, via Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee, that Evans will probably not get a contract extension from the franchise this summer when he becomes eligible for one. Once thought to be the future face of the franchise, Evans has ceded that position to DeMarcus Cousins. With the fifth pick it the Draft, the Kings are expected to take a player that could actually make Evans, and others, expendable: That is a precipitous fall from grace for Evans. Whether it is deserved or not is another question. The Kings have had a tumultuous ride since he was drafted. And there was a time when the play of Evans was one of the few bright spots. To see him in this place now is a bit strange to say the least. Source

Gibson believes Rose will be even better than before Bulls forward Taj Gibson talks about Derrick Rose as he recovers from a torn ACL, as well as his upcoming participation with the USA Select Team and his offseason focus Despite playing some of his best basketball of the season in the playoffs, Taj Gibson uses words like “hurt” and “pain” when looking back on the Bulls’ first round series, words to which fans in Chicago can certainly relate. But Gibson, speaking at BMO Harris Bank headquarters in downtown Chicago on Thursday, expressed optimism about what lies ahead for the Bulls, choosing words like “positive,” “better” and “opportunity.” For starters, he’s been in touch with Derrick Rose, who underwent surgery to repair his torn ACL on May 12, on several occasions. And he likes what he’s seen, as well as what he’s heard from Derrick himself. “I’ve seen him at the Berto a lot,” said Gibson, who was on hand to help BMO Harris Bank reach its goal of assembling 2,000 Red Cross comfort kits, of Rose. “He’s been pushing it and I saw him push through a lot of pain early. I look forward to seeing our team take that energy and use it as a positive. Because every day, he’s yelling and he’s screaming from putting in so much effort trying to get his knee back. We need to see how much pain he’s going through and feed off it, put it in our daily lives. I think he’s doing great. I think he’s improving quicker than people have expected him to improve. He’s in there every day and he’s pushing it to the limits every time I see him. I think he’ll come back even better than he was before.” As for where Gibson believes Rose is at mentally, consistent with what others have gathered, the young point guard’s spirits remain high. While the team put on a good face following Rose’s injury, it was ultimately a challenge that proved too difficult to overcome. But Gibson believes he and his teammates are willing and able to embrace moving forward knowing Rose will likely miss the first few months of the 2012-13 season. Source

To me - Game 6 vs Celtics (45-15-5). One of his best postseason games (if not his best). -
