I'd like to extend my deepest and most sincere CONGRATULATIONS to the Memphis GRIZZLIES, the entire organization, that is!! After falling into a 3-1 hole, the Grizzlies are only a day away of completing yet another imposing NBA series comeback. Not a win away - but a day away. For when* the Grizzlies beat the Clippers tomorrow, the Tennessee-based ball club will truly deserve all the credit for their 4-3 comeback first round series win. Moreover, the Grizzlies will do against a team of overpaid floppers, which would only make their feat even more admirable than it is. And just for the record, the Clippers didn't win three games - it was the Grizzlies who lost 3 games... but won't lose four. Also, it doesn't really matter if Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will play or not. It wouldn't really make any difference, at all -- the Grizzlies will go on to win either way. Chris Paul is the most overrated point guard in the shot clock era. And he should be called Chris Phall. And Blake Griffin is a disgrace to his team, and to not only the city of Los Angeles, but to the entire state of California, also a truly disgrace to the NBA, and last but not least - a disgrace to the game of basketball. Griffin clearly has no match in all other professional sports. And I'm pretty sure, James Naismith's spirit is not resting in peace as this pseudo-athlete is making a complete mockery out of the beautiful game Naismith created back in. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS to the 2011-'12 Memphis GRIZZLIES: Rudy Gay, O.J. Mayo, Tony Allen, Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Gilbert Arenas, Mike Conley, Marreese Speights, Dante Cunningham, Quincy Pondexter, Lester Hudson, Jeremy Pargo, Josh Selby, Darrell Arthur and Hamed Haddadi. HEAD COACH Lionel Hollins (College - Arizona State) ASSISTANT COACH(ES) David Joerger (College - Moorhead State) Henry Bibby (College - UCLA) Barry Hecker (College - Frostburg State) Bob Thornton (College - California-Irvine) ASSISTANT COACH FOR PLAYER DEVELOPMENT Lloyd Pierce (College - Santa Clara) STRENGTH-AND-CONDITIONING COACH Kelly Lambert (College - Central Arkansas) ATHLETIC TRAINER Drew Graham (College - Ohio State) ASSISTANT TRAINER Jim Scholler (College - Michigan) ^ Remember these names. For these men are heroes. And like all heroes deserve a medal. Last but not least, I'd like to congratulate the Owner of the franchise -- Mr. Michael Heisley, as well as the General Manager of basketball operations -- Mr. Chris Wallace. Good job, guys! All of you!! ----- * Not 'If', but rather 'When', as it's only a matter of time till it happens.

Griffin, Paul listed as game-time decisions LA Clippers All-Star forward Blake Griffin sustained a sprained left knee in last night's 80-92 game five Clippers' loss in Memphis last night. The injury occurred with 1:31 remaining in the third quarter. After being medically cleared to return to the game, Griffin finished the contest with 15 points, 11 rebounds and three steals in 39 minutes played. Griffin underwent an MRI today in Los Angeles which confirmed that there was no structural damage to the knee. Clippers All-Star point guard Chris Paul suffered a strained right hip flexor with 5:16 remaining in the fourth quarter last night. Paul also returned to the game, finishing the night with 19 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in 39 minutes of action. Both players will be listed as game time decisions for game six tomorrow night at 6 PM (PDT) vs. Memphis at Staples Center. http://www.nba.com/2012/news/05/10/clipppers-paul-griffin/index.html

Ronaldinho omitted from Brazil squad as 'Pato' returns The former Barcelona attacker has not been included in the last squad before the Olympic Games, while the AC Milan forward has been called up despite an injury-hit season Ronaldinho had been part of the preliminary 52-man list for the Olympic Games, but failed to make the cut in what is the last squad before Menezes announces the players who will be competing in London. AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato, who has been plagued by injuries this season, is a surprise entry in the list, while Fluminense forward Wellington Nem has earned his first call-up with the senior national team. Brazil will take on Denmark on May 26 before meeting the United States (May 30), Mexico (June 3) and Argentina (June 9). The 'Selção' have been drawn with Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand in their Olympic Games group. USA - Brazil Friendly Scheduled For May 30th @ FedEX Field http://i.huffpost.com/gen/494271/thumbs/r-USA-BRAZIL-FRIENDLY-large570.jpg CHICAGO (AP) — The United States' exhibition soccer game against Brazil will be played May 30 at Landover, MD. The game was announced Jan. 12 as part of Brazil's three-game U.S. trip, with the site and date set Thursday by the U.S. Soccer Federation. Brazil, a five-time U.S. champion, will be playing the Americans for the fourth time in four years. Brazil has won all three in that span — twice at the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa and a 2-0 exhibition win at East Rutherford, N.J., in August 2010. Before World Cup qualifying begins, the Americans play at Italy on Feb. 29th, then plan to host Scotland on May 26th. They play at Canada on June 3rd before opening qualifying at home against Antigua and Barbuda on June 8th. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/09/us-brazil-friendly-may-30_n_1265546.html

The talents of Chris Paul and his young guns are quickly shedding decades of laughingstock baggage http://i.imgur.com/xCzH7.jpg Ever since they trumped the Lakers in the Chris Paul Sweepstakes (with a massive assist from David Stern), the Clippers have been juggling identities like a rejected superhero from The Avengers. There's the exciting contender that features two All-Star Game starters, dominates YouTube, has a recognizable hook ("Lob City") and keeps pulling out close games because of Paul's incomparable brilliance; and there's the laughingstock of a franchise that's been owned/mutilated by the aggressively incompetent Donald Sterling, made just four playoff appearances in the past 35 years (before this season) and piled up so many injuries, bad breaks and idiotic decisions that I could barely cram them into this 2009 column. Which identity would prevail? The Clippers started out 19-9, then unhinged after blowing an impressive victory over San Antonio in the most unlikely way: As Paul fetched an inbounds pass to dribble out the clock, he lost his balance and improbably threw the ball right to San Antonio's Gary Neal … who even more improbably sank the game-tying 3 in a sports-movie ending that any producer would have rejected. San Antonio's overtime victory spawned a textbook Clippers free fall: They won just seven of their next 18, making headlines in mid-March by not firing Vinny Del Negro, then pretending five solid days of internal teetering about the coach's future never happened. It happened.1 If you remember, Sterling hired Del Negro for a decidedly Clipperish reason: The Bulls were covering half of Del Negro's salary last season, which meant Sterling only had to pay for half a coach. You get what you pay for, whether it's a recycled coach, a hooker or a slum building … and reportedly, Sterling has paid for all three. But that's beside the point. Del Negro survived March for a decidedly Clipperish reason: It was simply too late to find a decent replacement. This didn't matter on Monday night, not with Dr. Paul performing yet another crunch-time surgery on Memphis. You know the recipe by now: Paul setting up everyone else for 44 minutes, then going into Isiah 2.0 mode and taking command down the stretch. The Clippers lead Memphis 3-1 in the series; all three wins came down to the final minute; all three wins happened because Paul controls the final minutes of tight games better than anyone. He's incredible. That's the only word that applies. It's not just the plays themselves, or his innate ability to make the correct decision nearly every time, but the way he carries himself as it happens. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7909780/the-new-clipper-nation

Keith Closs Wore His Own Jersey to Clippers – Grizzlies Game 4 Former Clipper Keith Closs was in attendance at last night’s Los Angeles – Memphis game wearing his own jersey from his days with the team. While this may seem random, it’s the logical conclusion to a long and strange journey for the former LA big man. The 7’3″ Closs spent part of three seasons with the Clippers, averaging 3.9 points and 1.3 blocks in 130 career games. I remember Closs’ stint in the NBA and always figured he was one of the many first round busts in the organization’s history. He actually started his professional career in the ABA before joining the Clippers. He still holds the NCAA record for career blocks per game. http://thebiglead.fantasysportsven.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/keith-closs-jersey.jpg What are the odds that Keith Closs would be the victim of one of the first viral video brawls? This video is like a time capsule. Death Row Celebrity Beatdowns Volume 1. Only Suge Knight could have pulled something like that off. If only because when they ran out of celebrity beatdowns he would have paid people to go out and fight celebrities. http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2012/05/08/keith-closs-wore-his-own-jersey-to-last-nights-clippers-grizzlies-game/
