  1. Defensively, a lack of lateral quickness and athleticism can be compensated for with smarts and defensive IQ. You look at a guy like Battier who was not blessed with much, but is the league's marquee defender.

Playing defense is not a walk in a park, but offense is just more of a natural talent, that's why I'm a bit surprised by some of these answers.

And shooting for hours on end and dribbling a basketball every chance you get doesn't do anything? There's a lot of natural talent that goes into both sides to be able to be a good player, but you can be a great shooter and a good ball handler without all of the natural born talent, hard work wins there.

  2. Right now it seems like Marion, Parker, Dahntay Jones, Linas Kleiza, McDyess and Desmond Mason are the 6 FA's the Cavs are chasing. There's news on each of them going to the Cavs so there's no clear cut yet. I really think we could get one of them.

Honestly, I like what the Cavs are doing. Last year, Ferry waited to get Mo, and he got a sure easy deal with Shaq, waiting until the Suns took Delonte off the deal. Ferry has only made good deals, so I can only hope to expect more good moves to come based on his consistency.

I'm really loving that he's actually doing some smart things this year and really looking to help the team. I wasn't ttoo happy with a couple of the moves in the past and the Jiri Welsch move still stings me to this day.

one of these Fa's would even start. Basically, they will just add more athleticism and hopefully Wally can shoot the ball. Wally was supposed to be the wing we needed but he really hasn't become what the Cavs wanted unfortunately.

That's been our curse, bringing in good spot-up shooters and then them not being able to hit a consistent shot. Hopefully Wally gets his act together and if we get Parker, hopefully the curse doesn't fall upon him.

  3. Z pisses me off... Gotta love his shot (stop [expletive]ing shooting the damn three) and I'm impressed when he dives for those loose balls (usually off his own mistake offensively) but his defense pisses me off to no end and his slowness makes me cut myself. He's got positives but his negatives irrate me SO much.

  4. I'd really love Sheed's ability to hit a three and alter shots in ways Z could only dream of. But I think McDyess will fit in the system better as far as chemistry and ability to step in and step up goes... I'd still really like to have Sheed though... Oh Sheed. Shaq and Sheed on the same team? Ha that's some good times.

  5. Name: Drake

Year You Became A Cavs Fan: Don't remember, been one my whole life (although had a equal sized Bulls phase during the Jordan era but who didn't?)

Favorite Cavs Moment: Game 5 vs. Pistons.

Favorite Current Cavs Player: West and soon to be Danny Green.

Favorite All-Time Cavs Player: Eric Snow!!

Anything Else: I can't wait to win a ring so people will quit making fun of my Ohio pro teams. :P

Also... I am STILL pissed about the Jiri Welsch trade.

  6. I agree with most of you,

Perimeter: Shane Battier, although I want to give a shot out to my guy Bruce Bowen, he is one of the best at reach stepping, playing the game with his feet, and playing the mental aspect of the defensive game.

Post: Dwight Howard, he's got the best all around shot blocking skills in the league, and the ability to use them.

What about the sub catagories (I've seen some of you talking about them in this thread)? Although they can be tougher to really identify, we always talk about "who's the best shooter," or the best passer, dribbler, dunker but the defensive aspects don't get as much spot light. Who's got the quickest hands? Who can read the offense the best? Who's best at keeping his man in front of him? And so on...

  7. 1. Steve Nash - Was overrated with way too much hype.

    2. Kobe Bryant - Gotta respect the man's game though.

    3. Ron Artest - What a douche.

One would be AV if it wasn't for the fact he's on my team. He's one of those guys you like if he's playing for you, but you hate if he's not. I hate how he thinks he's a offensive juggernaut half of the time.

One will also be LeBron James if he leaves... I'll hate him till the day he retires, but if he stays he's cool.

  8. Marcin Gortat, he's so underrated. I cant believe no one mentioned him in this thread, I guess people are forgetting his impact on the Lakers series.

Forgot about him. He pissed me off so much in the Cavs series. I'd get all excited when Howard would get in foul trouble and get sent to the bench and then his goofy [expletive] came in and cause trouble for us.
