Which team is in the deepest hole?
Diesel replied to YugoRocketsFan's topic in General NBA Discussion
East: Toronto West: Phoenix lol poor Jerry Colangelo. I don't know if any star player is as much as a lock to leave their current team as Bosh is. Even now their a mediocre team that's going to blow. Phoenix is just exploding and will be pretty bad for a while. I think teams like the Pacers and Bobcats are screwed too. Even though their better off than teams like Sacramneto right now their still stuck in mediocrity thus they will not get any top picks(unless their lucky or do anything in the playoffs). Their not in good salary CAP position either to sign a top FA. At least not from my understandings. -
Looks like all the hacker did was make the forum stronger, I can't remember OTR ever being this active. Great stuff everyone. http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif

Clog too many holes for LeBron? As long as Cleveland pairs him up with a 4 that can hit a jumpshot(Udonis Haslem, Robert Horry, etc.) then it won't be a problem. If Cleveland can pair him up with Dice that would be awesome. In 2004-2007 Wade drove much more than LeBron does now and Shaq being in the lane didn't cause any huge problems for him. However a starting frontcourt of Shaq + Varejao just won't cut it. I'm sure Cleveland will get something done.

He didn't do anything to impress me when he played. I don't care how old he is, I want someone that can come in and kick some [expletive]. Sbisa will never in his entire career be anywhere near the impact player that Pronger is. This is a legend we're talking about and comparing to a guy that hasn't done [expletive] yet.

It's a great trade for the flyers. Chris Pronger is an elite defensemen and a former Norris Trophy winner as well as League MVP(that [expletive] isn't common for defensemen). And before I hear the "oh well he's old" playing card he is still playing at an elite level. Sbisa is never going to be half the player Pronger is so I have no problem giving him up. The draft picks won't be that good since we're going to be a very good team for the next few years so that's not a biggie either and a forward like Lupol is easily replaceable. We had 6 guys get 25+ goals last year and that's not even including Briere. This teams defense was pathetic at the end of the year. Sbisa wasn't doing [expletive] to help things so why not bring in one of the best the game has to offer? Ever since Hatcher stopped playing this team had a glaring need for a physical defender that is going to scare people. We need a guy to hit and physically abuse Crosby/Malkin who beat us year after year. It's going to change the way those guys play against us. The Penguins are the team we need to beat and with only one consistently good defender on our team(Timmonen) we're not going to cut it. The only way this trade isn't good is if Pronger doesn't resign with us next year and we don't win the Cup this upcoming season. If we win a Stanley Cup theres no way this trade isn't worth it though regardless of what else happens.

Cleveland: Acquired Shaquille O'Neal for Sasha Pavlovic, Ben Wallace, a 2010 top 40 protected 2nd round pick, and cash considerations. San Antonio: Acquired Richard Jefferson for Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas, Fabrico Oberto Orlando: Acquired Vince Carter, Ryan Anderson for Courtney Lee, Rafer Alston, Tony Battie I think the Cleveland trade was the best. They acquire someone that will be able to help them beat a team they struggled with in Orlando. Dwight won't rape them anymore, and they'll have an option to throw to in the post and make Dwight work on defense/tire him out/get him in foul trouble. San Antonio can possibly be the best if Milwaukee decides to waive some of those guys only to have them sign back with San Antonio.

I figured I'd start the first thread in this subforum as the most controversial question in basketball today

Mavericks Still Plan For 'Active Summer'
Diesel replied to MainEv3nt's topic in Dallas Mavericks Team Forum
It's going to be tough for Dallas to get some trades going. They really have no desirable pieces they can use in trades that they can use to build a better team around Dirk. The Devin Harris trade might've just ruined their chances at a title in the Dirk era. -
I'm going to go with Antawn Jamison even though I'm not sure he classifies as a star. I'm hoping he can be much better though haha.

At first I was kinda pissed because I really had my heart set on Lawson, but then I realized this guy is a steal falling to us at 17. He was projected to go as high as 4th to Sacramento at one point, and he just slipped big time. We're getting a lottery talent with the 17th pick and with our future PG a huge question mark I think getting a future possible star was the right move. I just wish he had a shot discuss

I think with Shaq Cleveland is now the top team. Boston still has too many question marks regarding who will be there next year and whether or not the aging stars will be healthy. Even last year though Boston struggled with LeBron. Orlando I think got worse no question with losing Hedo(most likely), Alston, and Courtney Lee by replacing them with Vince Carter. I'd much rather have the former 3 guys. Orlando wont be able to exploit those weird mismatches with having two 6'10 guys that shoot threes anymore. Dwight won't have as much of a field day anymore exploiting Varejao and blowing by Illgauskas. Shaq will be able to do a good job defending him. Shaq doesn't have to worry about Dwight hitting any outside jumpshots.

Dionte Christmas makes Sixers summer league roster
Diesel replied to Smitty's topic in Philadelphia 76ers Team Forum
I wouldn't count on Dionte making the team. I think this is more to get people happy that the Temple star might make the team. He's a good player, but I don't think he'll be able to flourish at the NBA level. Good luck to him though.
