  1. pretty good. how about you? i hear mike cammalleri is getting pretty good at golf. improving his drives
  2. i completely agree. leighton was great early in the playoffs, but that is only because the defense was beyond great. leighton played decent in the finals as the defense crumbled. he made some good saves but he also let it a bunch of easy goals which is ultimately what killed the flyers. getting a goalie is not gonna be any easy task though. there are a few guys like price/halak, and a few others that are available via trade, but i dont know if the flyers are going to be willing to trade as much as they would have to in order to get a player like price. and along with that the flyers may not have the money to sign/trade for a big time goalie. the flyers already have to resign carcillo, coburn, and parent (all RFA). leighton and emery are free agents also the other option would be signing a free agent goalie. and that the selection isnt much this year. free agent goalies are----turco, nabakov, theodore, toskala, biron, mason, ellis, emery, budaj, etc. there arent any great options there, but most of those guys with a year, maybe 2 contract isnt horrible. something that also popped out to me is a guy like cory schneider. he is a RFA and is stuck behind luongo. he is already 26 years old, i would not be surprised to see him asking for a trade. there arent many other options when you are stuck behind one of the best goalies in the world (who is only 31.) there are a few others in similar situations
  3. but congrats to the hawks, they really did deserve it. they have so much talent throughout the team. keith and seabrook are both star defensemen and niemi played out of his mind. i dont think niemi is that good of a goalie, but he came through for them all playoffs long. bufflin (not attempting to spell) is a douchebag, but toews, kane, versteeg and some of the other young players are gonna keep this team good for a long time (until they get [expletive]ed over by the salary cap) i wouldnt mind or be surprised to see the same series next year
  4. incredible run by the flyers. counting down the days till the start of the season, flyers are gonna be right back in it next year too
  5. there is a difference between a "hockey town" because the team is good for a few years and a legitimate hockey town. for example toronto. obviously it is a bit different because its in canada, but they were the 2nd worst team in the league this year. they also top 5 in attendance. they go to hockey games to watch hockey, they dont go to games only when their team is good. if you want to say that DC is starting to turn into a hockey town then i cant argue. but even 2 years ago, 2008, the caps were near the bottom in attendance. you dont go from never selling out to being a strong hockey town in 2 years. right now DC is just following the only relevant team in the city, they are absolutely not a hockey town because of that.
  6. i say divisional for football, AL and NL for baseball, and leave hockey how it is because its offseason, there isnt that much to talk about. there will be more posts during the season.
  7. so she pretty much wants to change how every single word is spelled? which would force the entire country and every other english speaking country to relearn english it would take more work to change everything then it would be to learn english how it is
  8. yeah, the wax museum is really cool, i forget the name. and definitely try to use the subway as much as you can. dont drive anywhere. easy train to yankee stadium, and its really not that hard to understand in general.
  9. thats awesome but kobe absolutely smokes. probably not anymore now because he is 30 as has a family, but when he is younger id bet he did at least occasionally. lol @ the people that dont think he has ever tried it a lot of athletes smoke though. there are healthy ways to do it that barely affect your lungs, etc. its a lot healthier then drinking. by far
  10. yeah, i see no way that leighton doesnt start (aside from injury)
  11. he doesnt have to be there to do something about it. sure he played golf a few times, but there are 24 hours in a day, he could have easily had plenty of time to talk with people about what to do, etc
  12. just finished season 3. i didnt really like the the first half about of the this season (compared to the rest, it was still really good in general). but the last couple episodes of the season were awesome so it makes up for it. season 4 looks promising, it seems like its gonna go in a bit different direction then the other seasons, but that might not be a bad thing
  13. best thread on OTR
  14. i like the timonen kane matchup so i have no problem with that. but bu[expletive]lien isnt nearly as good without toews and kane
  15. team with normal QB > team with crying QB (aka didnt feel like posting much right now. the argument is sure to come up multiple times before the start of the season)
  16. mcdonalds fail. cant wait for one kid to get sick and sue the crap out of mcdonalds (again)
  17. i think you mean second best
  18. you never know, flyers have a lot more momentum and confidence going into game 5 then they did going into games 1 and 2. and both games 1 and 2 were really close 1 goal games that could have really gone to either team. game 5 may be the best game of the series
