Andy Pettitte is making a rehab start with the Trenton Thunder (Yankees AA team). The catch is, it will come during a Thunder playoff game. I know, this is probably pretty common when MLB guys are rehabbing in September and most minor leagues are in their postseasons, and I know that the primary function of these minor league teams is to feed their Major League affiliates, but if I were on the Thunder's opponent, I'd be pretty pissed.

Observation: That stupid Rockies mascot should not be allowed to be behind home plate in the 9th inning. So bush league.

Haha, hopefully Wellwood's little brother turns out a bit better. He is a Flyers prospect.

I don't know what the talk in St. Louis is (or Montreal), but I have to imagine that the hype for Halak is ridiculous and I'll be shocked if he lives up to it. That playoff run was ridiculous, but Marty Biron had a similar run a couple years ago and look where he is now (obviously Halak is a lot more talented than Biron, but the point is that the expectations for Halak should not be based on his playoff run).

I don't mean to toot the Phillies' horn, but damn their infielders can pick it (2B, 3B, and SS at least). Kind of old news, but they always impress me.

No he was right, Kolb only made 2 starts. He came into a couple games in relief of McNabb 2 seasons ago (and week 1 last year) and was not impressive, but I don't think that should be held against him since the Eagles do not let any non starters get reps with the first team in practice during the week leading up to any particular game. But I like the way STL10 thinks!

Surprised they didn't do this two years ago. Their forwards suck besides the big 3. Also, no idea why they didn't bring Bill Guerin back. Their wingers suck.

John Mayberry Jr. called up. Likely the final one.

And then threw to first base with the bases loaded, causing 2 runs to score on the sac fly. Kid is athletic as hell, but apparently has no baseball IQ. Made another bonehead decision today. Played a ball horribly off the left center field wall and let it bounce away. Allowed the runner to get to 3rd when he should have just had a double.

Observation: Cameron Maybin is a horrendous centerfielder.

Well, that was a stinker. Good news is we still gain on the Braves with a W tonight. The other good news is that the Phillies have seen Anibal Sanchez a bunch in the past, so maybe they will actually get more than 1 hit against him! I swear, every time they see a guy for the first time, they look like fools, whether it is Stephen Strasburg or an 8 year minor league veteran making his Major League debut, like Mr. Mendez this afternoon.

Lets play two... Going to the afternoon game, so I miss Oswalt. Instead, I'll get to see Vance Worley make his first MLB start. I am pretty excited about him to be honest, I think there is a very good chance he winds up in the rotation next year.
