  1. 3 days, 3 games, 3 time zones, 3 wins. I like it. 12-11 last night, 1-0 tonight. I will take it!
  2. Per usual, the Phillies aren't making a whole lot of September call-ups. It actually makes sense...no need to clog up the clubhouse and potentially mess up chemistry in the middle of a pennant chase. Guys up so far are Paul Hoover and Greg Dobbs, and Ross Gload has been activated from the DL. They will need a spot starter on Monday for the double header, and all signs point to Vance Worley getting the call for that one (he was pulled after 1 inning tonight in his AAA start). After Worley, I don't see them making many, if any more additions. Perhaps an extra arm or 2 for the bullpen. Maybe Mike Zagurski and/or Scott Mathieson.
  3. Kyle and I are enjoying this more than anybody else here.
  4. Gaby Sanchez suspended for 3 games...if he does not appeal, that means he misses the Braves series and comes back just in time for the Phillies series .
  5. Wow. 9 run innings are cool. The Phillies give up 21 hits and win...damn. Umpires still blow.
  6. So you're saying the Cowboys 3rd team has outplayed the Cowboys 1st team this preseason? I am TERRIFIED! Also, thnx to the Mets. Much appreciated.
  7. It appears that the Eagles 3rd team is better than the Jets 3rd team. This is good to know, I suppose...
  8. This is unreal. Major League Baseball seriously needs to address some of their umpires this offseason. They are interjecting themselves into pennant races and it is not right.
  9. [expletive] Coors Field, and [expletive] Paul Emmel.
  10. Reds fans better pray Dusty Baker isn't back next year, especially if Chapman winds up in the rotation which it sounds like he will. Guy who throws hard slider + Dusty Baker = very short career.
  11. Haha, you know my stance on this, but I will post it here anyway for the hell of it. I also did not see anything wrong with charging the mound or the slide from Tuesday itself. My problem with the slide on Tuesday was that it was unnecessary and not very smart, although technically clean. As Harold Reynolds pointed out on MLB Network, if Morgan slides he is likely safe. Instead he runs into the catcher and winds up being out. I did see a problem with running into the catcher in the St. Louis series. Absolutely no need for that, unless Nyjer Morgan is blind. My only issue with him charging the mound was that he is currently appealing a 7 game suspension, but whatever, that's his deal. The display as he walked back to the dugout was hilarious, but that is what is going to land him in the deepest [expletive]. Oh, as for Gaby Sanchez, I had no problem with what he did. If this were hockey, being the third man in is obviously not cool, but in baseball I think it's a bit different. Gotta protect your pitcher.
  12. OK, his slider is a hell of a lot better than it was the last time I saw him. He still needs to improve his command and and add a third pitch, probably a changeup (as Flash suggested), or else I don't see him succeeding as a starter. I see him more as a better version of prime-Billy Wagner, or a left-handed Neftali Feliz right now. As a starter in the minors, he had a horrible BB/9 and a very average ERA. A third pitch and better command of the fastball can go a long way towards fixing that.
  13. When you are losing that big, you do not try to steal bases. I think his teammates and coaches were probably upset the most by that. It was pretty obvious he was running to "stick it to the Marlins" or whatever, and putting his own personal vendetta above the team. When you are down that big, you cannot afford to be thrown out on the basepaths. He is lucky he was safe both times. Morgan has had a couple questionable slides in the past couple weeks (as you mentioned), and he is also currently appealing a suspension for throwing a ball at a fan. So needless to say, his character has come into question in the past few weeks. That display tonight (especially as he was walking back to the dugout) certainly does not make him look good.
  14. Eh, I disagree, but I'd probably love him if I was a White Sox fan.
  15. Yeah. I really wish he'd have done that in Philly, New York, or Chicago. Talking [expletive] to the fans in a Marlins-Nationals game in Miami is kind of dumb. Also, hey Nyjer, a word of wisdom...when you are appealing a 7-game suspension for throwing a baseball at a fan.... taking dirty slides, charging mounds, throwing punches, yelling at fans, etc. is not the best way to impress the league.
  16. Haha yesss Wild Card screen caps. Although the one for the AL might be kind of useless lol.
  17. Antti Niemi is going to sign with the Sharks, supposedly. This is interesting. Between Niemi, Niittymaki, and Greiss, I wonder who will be the odd man out.
  18. http://www.csnphilly.com/gallery_images/3736_71223.jpg We have ice!! Wow, this offseason has flown by.
  19. And the Phillies would like to thank the Dodgers for Shane Victorino and Jayson Werth!
  20. Wow...I always knew Hawk Harrelson was annoying, but watching this entire game today has made me realize that he's almost unbearable. As much as I dislike the Phillies TV announcers, I think i'd want to cut my ears off if I had to listen to Hawk every day. I'm able to cope since I have Konerko on my fantasy team, though.
  21. Bill Guerin worked out with the Flyers this morning. Supposedly hoping to sign a try-out contract here. I would not mind that at all, but it would probably mean Carcillo is out.
  22. Chase Utley and Ryan Howard each have OPSs down at least 100 points from the end of last season. Utley is generally always over .900, and there is a chance he can go under .800 tonight for basically the first time ever. Definitely a huge reason for the offense being so inconsistent.
