Jeff Francouer to Texas for Joaquin Arias. As bad as Frenchy is, this was probably as good as the Rangers could do on the waiver wire.

New road jerseys this year! http://www.winterclassicjerseys.com/images/pic-premier-pronger-phil-lg.jpg Minus the Winter Classic patch, obviously.

The Mets are not what I'd call a "good baseball team".
-
Lol, I can't believe the Braves announcers are whining so much about the called third strike to Heyward. It was absolutely a strike, just looked odd because of how badly Niese missed his spot. Doesn't make it any less of a strike.
-
And Fish and I will be laughing when that lineup beats the Braves tonight! Well, one can dream..
-
And he will apparently be a Texas Ranger shortly.
-
Just an idea....perhaps you should start posting screen caps of the wild card standings as well.
-
Oh, I know. That is the extreme of all extremes. Guys like Todd Helton, Larry Walker, Dante Bichette (oh Bichette!), Vinny Castilla, Troy Tulowitzki, etc. all also have very unbalanced home/road splits, but obviously the Gonzalez example is pretty ridiculous lol.

I don't think there has ever been a half-decent Rockies hitter where that wasn't the case.
-
I can understand why he'd consider it, but it's hard to see him leaving the Yankee job. But who knows what he is thinking.
-
Wow...I dig it. And I gave you a follow on Twitter.

I wish there was a way to convince the Phillies it is mid-October whenever they go to Dodger Stadium in the regular season.
-
It would be nice if the Phillies actually looked like they had a plan or something. Kuroda is not dominating anybody, the Phillies are swinging at whatever garbage he throws early in the count.
-
Also, I [expletive]ing hate Rod Barajas.
-
I wish the stat for most times a team has been no-hit into the fifth or sixth inning was more easily accessible. Seems like it happens with the Phillies every week or 2. Against mediocre pitchers, too.
-
[expletive] this. Doc got BABIP'd to death in the first inning and gives up 2 avoidable runs, and the Phillies hitters look clueless against a mediocre pitcher. Quite typical. This team can waste a great pitching performance like no other.
-
I wish "mental errors" could be charged. Doc's ERA should not have to suffer because of this [expletive]-show.

Are the Mets good for anything?....

It can be very complicated. Basically you have to have been on the 25 man roster at some point prior to September 1st to be eligible to play in the playoffs. Obviously, players on the MLB 15-day disabled list are eligible also. However, if somebody gets hurt during the playoff series, the team is allowed to call up anybody from the organization as a replacement player, with the kicker being, the replacement player had to have been in the organization prior to September 1st. So, if the team signs any free agents after September 1st, they are not allowed on the playoff roster period. This happened a couple years ago with the Phillies and Tadahito Iguchi, who they signed after September 1st. There are a bunch of other weird exceptions. It's very difficult to understand it all. So basically, the Reds still could have potentially used Chapman in the playoffs if they waited until Sept 1, but they'd have needed for another pitcher to get hurt for that to happen.
-
It's possible, his secondary pitches are not very good at all right now from what I am seeing/reading. He's only 22 though, so it's a bit early to say he's a bust IMO. But I could definitely see him being a relief pitcher long term, a la Neftali Feliz.
-
Nope, I mean tomorrow . If they wait until Sept 1, they won't be able to use him in the playoffs.
-
I think the best scenario would be if both teams have playoff spots locked up by the final weekend, so all that series determines is who wins the division and who is the wild card. It also would be a pretty wicked NLCS.
-
And this was probably predictable, but he will officially be a Red tomorrow.
-
I'd be fine with it, I just want the Phillies to get into the playoffs, because I will take my chances with a healthy Phillies team in a 5 or 7 game series against any other team in the league, home field or not. But the division is way cooler .

Ugh...this is so painful to say....... go Mets!
