  1. I never bought into that. Having two aces and a team that is solid defensively is nice and all, but when you can't hit for [expletive] and have a pretty poor pitching staff behind Lee and Hernandez, I didn't see much to be excited about. I thought from the get-go that they'd be spending more time fighting Oakland for third than they'd spend fighting the Angels and Rangers.
  2. He's having a down year, but I still view him as a top six or seven pitcher in the league. And he has an incredibly team friendly contract, and would be under their control for 3 more years.
  3. If the Phillies wanted an infielder, they would have traded for one three weeks ago.
  4. I know, that's why I mentioned that.
  5. I didn't think the Mariners were going to be that amazing in the first place. This is a no-brainer.
  6. Turn on MLB Network, it's all they have been talking about for the past 20 minutes.
  7. Lol...throw in Matt Diaz and Jair Jurrjens and I will consider But damn, the Mariners are a [expletive] show this year.
  8. WOW. Fight in the Mariners dugout between Jose Lopez and Don Wakamatsu. [expletive].
  9. Yeah I know, McCann is terrible. I think the Braves should give him to the Phillies.
  10. Hopefully the Cardinals and Yankees do not get one of Haren/Oswalt, although I am sure at least one of those teams will get one of those guys. Talk about unbeatable rotations...
  11. Only time I will ever say "go Marlins!". Something Fish and I can both be happy about, for now.
  12. That is quite true. Well, the Eagles part anyway. When Jimmy Rollins made that "frontrunners" statement a few years ago, he was 100% right.
  13. A winning streak! Run support for Doc!
  14. I feel like it's been that way for a while, and this summer it just exploded. The NBA has always marketed its star players far more than it markets its teams, so it's no wonder some players have this attitude. I know, this exists in basically every league to some degree, it is just far more prevalent in the NBA.
  15. I think Willie Green, Greg Buckner, Marreese Speights, and Rodney Carney have been summer league "MVPs" before (I may be confusing one or two of these guys with somebody else, but similar caliber players, I don't feel like looking it up right now), and guys like Chauncy Billups have been so bad in summer league that they were told they'd "never make it". I don't know enough about what goes on down there, but just based on that, I struggle to put much stock into it.
  16. I think you got that backwards. But that would be pretty impressive!
  17. I hope so. Don't feel like watching the extended media orgasm that will happen if this drags out. Hope he just gets it over with.
  18. My feelings today are no different than they were at the time we drafted him. Would have been nice to see him play better, but it's just summer league.
  19. No-hitters through 7 innings deserve their own thread now? It is not even a shut out!
  20. Milt Thompson fired as hitting coach. Damn. I guess somebody had to take the hit. Always liked Milt though.
  21. Jamie Moyer's career might be finished. Sad.
  22. I will take it, but this lineup is a mess.
  23. The 2010 Phillies are the perfect example of why W-L for a pitcher is entirely irrelevant on an individual season basis. This team's inability to score for Roy Halladay and Cole Hamels is unbelievable. Hamels pitched the best game of any Phillie this year, with the exception of Doc's perfect game. 8 innings, 1 hit, 1 walk, 97 pitches, in ridiculous heat. And Hamels is now out of the game in the 9th...a 0-0 game.
