Year You Became a Fan: I have been a Philadelphia sports fan for my entire life, but it took the longest for me to warm up to the Sixers/the NBA in general. So I'd say I started following closely in the early 2000's. Why You Became a Fan: To complete my Philadelphia fan-dom. Favorite 76ers Player, All-Time: Allen Iverson Favorite 76ers Coach, All-Time: Larry Brown Favorite 76ers Moment: I honestly did not follow the 2000-01 team too closely so I don't remember anything specific from that year, but Game 1 against Detroit last year or Game 3 against Orlando this year are probably my favorites. Also Iguodala's shot to beat the Lakers. Amount of 76ers Games Attended: Probably closing in on 40-45ish. Have been going to 10+ per year for the past 2 years, and will this coming year too.

Phew....that game had disaster written all over it. Magic number down to 3. Madson actually looked really good in the 9th. He gave up a double to Fielder but it was not a bad pitch. If he can take hold of the closers role this week, that will be huge heading into October. Matchups for Astros series: Tomorrow: Cole Hamels vs. Yorman Bazardo Tuesday: JA Happ vs. Wilton Lopez Wednesday: Cliff Lee vs. Brian Moehler Thursday: Pedro Martinez vs. Felipe Paulino Sounds like none of these are set in stone though, for either side. Apparently Pedro can pitch in any of these, depending on when he feels good.

Can anybody think of a worse team in our lifetimes? I know they are not quite as bad as the '63 Mets, but it looked for a while like they might give them a run for the money. To make it even more amazing is the fact that they can actually hit. You'd think that they'd have won a few more games just on that, but the pitching and defense is just about as bad as it can be for a Major League team.

Wow...I actually picked this.

It's cool that you prefer soccer, but this post is very ignorant. Also, I cannot believe this thread is still alive and kicking.

Great game all around. Granted, it is the Chiefs so we are supposed to beat them up, but still nice to see them actually do it.

The Lakers fans are taking Jackson and the Celtics fans are taking Auerbach. Shocking. I agree with Slaven, this is a very difficult comparison to make.

Sixers unveil new court and jerseys

See, this is my biggest problem about OTR. Had a Sixer fan said something similar in a Lakers discussion, we'd be looking at a 2 week ban. -
Looks like he may go to the Rangers haha.

He really wasn't, he just had a horrible year last season, and missed almost half of it because of injury. In 07-08 he was a very solid 3rd or 4th defenseman and he was awesome in the playoffs. Most Flyers fans were actually thrilled with the contract he got last offseason. Now that we have Pronger and Tollefsen though, he is our 6th or 7th best defenseman, and it's ridiculous to have somebody that low on the depth chart making the kind of money he is making and taking up all that cap space. I am sure somebody will pick him up in the next week and it would not surprise me at all to see him have a very good year.

The Brewers are playing totally bush league. Corey Hart is the main reason I am saying this actually. Going out of his way to deck Paul Bako last night, stealing 2nd late in a blow out, staring down Cliff Lee after a HBP that was blatantly unintentional. He is really doing his best to look like a dick this series. Also, they are probably worse than the Mets when it comes to stupid celebrations after every play. I would probably despise this team if the Phillies had to play them more than twice a year.

Very clever password, I must say.

Pedro has been scratched from tomorrow's start. Kyle Kendrick to take his place.

Seriously?!?! That is [expletive]ing awesome. There is a big controversy around here about some Flyers games not being available to certain people (way too complicated for me to get into right now), but needless to say that site will come in handy for me. Thanks a lot.

I just heard that Randy Jones is going to be waived at some point this weekend. Sucks to see him go since he's a really cool guy but unfortunately he makes too much money, and a healthy Tollefsen is way better. So it was easy to see this coming.

Also, apparently Charlie has considered using Happ at closer for the postseason. I think it's pretty clear now that one way or the other he will be in the pen for the playoffs, either as a lefty specialist should Romero/Eyre not be healthy, or potentially the closer. If one of Romero/Eyre can prove to be healthy and effective, Happ will not be needed for that role and he could possibly close. I'd say it's a long shot but who knows. They should be willing to try just about anything at this point. Also saw a writer suggest Tyler Walker for the role. I have actually thought he's the best remaining candidate for a long time now. Above average stuff, having a very solid year in a semi-mop up role (opponents hitting .215 against him), and most importantly experience closing (he was the Giants closer for a season). But what the hell, just give somebody new a shot. It can't be Lidge, it can't be Madson, and it remains to be seen whether Myers or Park will be healthy. Those are the 4 obvious "back of the bullpen" candidates, so it is time to try something new.

James van Riemsdyk and Mika Pyorala are both making a strong push to make the opening night roster. Not sure if there is room for both of them, but if I had to guess I am thinking Pyorala may have the upper hand. Last year they went through a similar thing as JVR with Claude Giroux and they wound up starting him in the AHL. They don't typically rush these guys along. Blair Betts has also played well as a fringe 4th line guy but I'm not sure if there will be room for him. Also, Ray Emery has been very strong.

Magic number is at 4 (3 to eliminate Florida). Matchups for rest of Brewers series: Tonight: Cliff Lee vs. Manny Parra Tomorrow: Pedro Martinez vs. Braden Looper Sunday: Joe Blanton vs. Dave Bush
-
At this point we just need to get to the ninth inning with a lead and pray for a miracle. Lidge cannot close, Madson cannot close, who knows if Myers, Romero or Park will be healthy.

I actually really like the white ones. Guess I'm on my own here haha. -
Apparently Ruiz is back in Philadelphia to get his wrist examined. [expletive]...

Ok, so both jerseys are new. http://images.footballfanatics.com/productImages/_350000/altImages/FF_350851ALT1_xl.jpg http://images.footballfanatics.com/productImages/_381000/altImages/FF_381007ALT1_xl.jpg -
Split the double header today. Magic number is down to 5. Tomorrow will be Cole Hamels vs. Rick VandenHurk.

1. 49ers or Patriots? 2. Favorite thing about Philadelphia fans? (I know there are probably too many to name) 3. Phil Kessel: is he overrated? 4. Best 2nd baseman in MLB? 5. Favorite New York Yankee? 6. All time favorite OTR argument?

Haven't heard anything about him getting to meetings/practice late, but everything I have heard has been very positive. Apparently he is very popular with the rest of the players, and to this point he has stayed out of trouble. Also, I have not seen any of the preseason games but apparently he has been playing very well. But if that is indeed an issue, I am sure Holmgren will be having a talk with him (if he hasn't already).
