Based on paper, obviously, I'll take the Red Sox. Yankees close behind. I'd disagree about the Rockies. Gonzalez and Tulowitzki might be as good of a 1-2 punch as there is, but the rest is so hit or miss. I'd take the Braves over them easily.

I knew Maybin was a sexy pick for my NL only team . Today is case in point as to why the "closer" as an individual position is SO overrated.

People like us, who know/love sports, forget that the percentage of people at games who actually know what they are watching is tiny. Can't hold everybody to our standards. If it is cold and rainy, the people who don't give a shit about the game (a depressingly large percentage) are not going to sit through it.

In fairness, the weather is absolutely miserable. I know hardcore fans like all of the baseball fans on OTR would deal with it, but you can't expect 50,000 people to stay in their seats through that, especially when a large percentage of them don't care enough about an April (March??) baseball game.

The Rays signed Wade Davis to an incredibly team friendly extension. Longoria part 2. Seriously...three team options!

Or if it was 5 degrees warmer. I can't remember ever seeing a ball hit that hard stay in that park.

And just like that, Castillo is released. Hah, didn't see that coming! Guess Delwyn Young, Mike Martinez, and Pete Orr are all on the roster.

I agree. That's all he does, which is enough for me haha. It'd allow them to move Rollins and Victorino to the middle of the order, which is where they have to be with Utley out. Castillo sees a bunch of pitches, unlike anybody else in the lineup. Not the ideal leadoff hitter, but I think he is the easy choice in this lineup, given all the shit going on.

Looks like Luis Castillo will be the opening day second baseman. And IMO he should lead off. No, I am not insane....
