Thorn Only 50-50 To Return...and It's His Choice
Teletopez replied to Universe's topic in Brooklyn Nets Team Forum
I was shocked to see this in the middle of all the draft headlines. No wonder Thorn was keeping quiet through all the promising signs that Prokhorov would try to bring him back. This is where Prokhorov's decision to let go of Kiki really looks bad. If Thorn does leave, we don't have a president or a GM. At least Kiki would have filled one of those roles. Vandeweghe wasn't a very good coach. But he got the job done as a GM. -
Cousins says he feels more comfortable as a center, and writers say he's a 5 as well. If we draft him, we're probably developing his ability to play power forward. Otherwise, drafting him may turn out to be a waste with Brook being the base of the roster. We're willing to give Yi another shot, and who knows how long Cousins' adjustment could take. Yi could range from having another rough season to being a major contributor, and Cousins could range from struggling to develop at a different position to having no troubles at all. The question is, how strong are we at the 4 with Cousins and Yi, and is it worth negotiating with PF's in the free agent market?

I guess it's a rematch of the 2001 World Series, and yes, probably because it's the Yankees, haha.

Today was expected to be a good day for A.J. with the strikeout numbers for Arizona. I'm not as disappointed as I would be with the numbers he put up. He is missing the corners, but in most ballparks, you get away with that much more than he seemed to be in Chase Field. He got crushed with the long ball, and the commentators noted that the ball is flying today.

Interesting battle between Favors and Cousins today. Cousins was the underdog, and he reportedly helped himself, while Favors didn't hurt himself. Cousins lost weight.Today, even though he struggled with shooting the first time, he was knocking down shots and displayed impressive range on his second try. We're basically down to Favors, Cousins, and Johnson for the third pick.

Wow, three goals within ten minutes twice in the second half. But the score possibly rocketed up because the defense may have lost full effort after 3-0 or 4-0.

Impressive stuff. I wish they demonstrated more than two passes for his court vision, though. at him doing the John Wall dance before they tested his ability to finish.

Adrian Wojnarowski I had to read the sentence quite a few times before I understood it correctly. This is reportedly in order to draw LeBron. First of all, it might be going to too far of an extent in order to bring over James. Having Harris and Lopez already gives us a pretty good chance at signing LeBron. It's a bit of a waste, in my opinion, even though at this point, Paul is more valuable than Harris in most people's eyes. The fact that we have Harris and Johnson together should not be overlooked. Plus, anyone other than Brook and #3 means that we're willing to deal the potential in T-Will and Courtney Lee. Not worth it when you already have a pretty good chance at this point.

Sorry to hear, man. Hope you get well soon.

Pretty mixed. There were some fans giving him a standing ovation when he came to the plate and some booing him. He was incredible for the organization in the eyes of many, but it was a rough ending.

GM7: Boston (3) @ Los Angeles (3)
Teletopez replied to Real Deal's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
You keep feeling like the game is a blowout until you look at the score. Boston's collapsing on the ball, which has clearly been effective. Still, L.A. has created their share of wide open shots, which they just can't knock down. Finding occasional open lanes and some careless errors from Boston have kept the deficit from double figures. -

Yeah, the numbers are insane. He's been flying through his outings. Aceves is making his way back, but he's still "using 70 percent effort." There's no timetable for when he's returning. Posada's catching again, and we're not going to be using the DH next week, so I would send down Moeller to make room for Albaladejo, though I have no idea what they have in mind. The Yanks have already given shots to Melancon, Romulo Sanchez, and Ivan Nova. Eventually, I would expect them to bring him up for a couple of days. I think it makes sense to keep on giving some innings to Melancon and Albaladejo when they seem ready to try the role.

Today wasn't the worst loss. I can understand difficulties adjusting to waiting longer for pitches. It's a shame that we never seemed to figure out Moyer. As for the bright side, Logan and Gaudin were incredible. I saw Logan's AAA numbers and the fact that he dominated before getting called up again, so I had my hopes up for an impressive outing, which is what he delivered. He was attacking the strike zone, and the velocity is great. Gaudin also located pitches well and had movement to have a strong outing of his own.

It's pretty crazy that tonight was the first time the Phillies hit back-to-back HR's. Baseball's a pretty awesome sport. Moyer throws a complete game, then gives up nine runs in 1+ innings, and pitches 8 strong tonight. He didn't pitch from the stretch until walking Rodriguez in the seventh inning. And tonight's outing after the Yankees hit Halladay incredibly last night.

I wonder if Roy Halladay has a high ERA against the AL this season simply because of the anti-bat doughnut effect. He's said this year that he's only had to rely on two of his pitches to get outs, and maybe switching back isn't going so smoothly for him.

An argument over which console is better would probably never end. But one misconception is the idea that Playstation 3 has no games. Heavy Rain, God of War, Metal Gear Solid, MLB the Show, ModNation, Uncharted, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance, Infamous, Motorstorm. They're all exclusives. I've never had problems with the internet, so not bad for no charge. MLB.TV is available on there as well.

Avery Johnson Busy in the Media Today and Tomorrow

http://i48.tinypic.com/258cco9.jpg Introduction: Yormark Harris and Brook welcome Johnson's wife. Rod Thorn We think that with all the values he will instill into our players, he will be outstanding for this franchise. Avery Johnson Thank you, Rod, for this opportunity. Thank you to all the people alongside me with ESPN. I had an opportunity, with the media, to understand what the word, "sources" means. So I'll have a better idea when I have a fun time with the media over the next couple of years. I will work morning, noon, and night to get the big trophy. I want to thank Prokhorov for this opportunity. I had some great talks with him Sunday and Monday. We have some good pieces to start with. You already see two of them here in Lopez and Harris. I'm really excited about working with Devin again. Devin is a little older, he knows my system, and I can give him the reigns now. (Mentions Lopez, Harris, Yi, and Lee as the good young core) I already met a bunch of folks, Yormark, Sussman. There's a great group to start off with. The sky is the limit and we have a great situation. We have draft picks and quite a lot of money to spend. We have an owner that's all in and wants to win. We have a great basketball mind in Rod Thorn. I'm just glad to be apart of it. I want to thank my wife for coming here. I want to thank my attorneys for coming down, and they worked overtime to negotiate a contract with Rod. When Mark Cuban hired me to coach Dallas, a lot of people questioned my experience. And while a lot of people look at the tough losses we had, I like to look at the positives. We're going to have a defensive system from day one and hold each other accountable while supporting everyone. Rod Thorn has said he will try to bring over a player that will make this a winning program. (To FA) We can go from worst to first, and you can be apart of that. Answering Questions Prokhorov has told me how many games he will attend, what role he will play, what role I will be playing, and how I will be keeping in touch with him through the season. We can get more than one guy in this FA market. We feel if we add the right FA's along with three draft picks and the roster we have, we have a great chance. I'm going to spend quite a lot of time with the players well before the season starts during workouts. I'm going to let them know what kind of practice and hard work will be necessary. We're going to try and lay that vision out early. You always look at the best-case and worst-case scenario. Even under the worst-case scenario, I want to be the coach of the New Jersey Nets. Even if things don't happen this summer, we have next summer. We're not just spending money to spend money. We feel there are a lot of great possibilities. (Answering Question from Devin Harris about how he will use soon-to-be-all-star Brook Lopez) I have experience working with big men and I look forward to doing whatever I can as we work with Brook Lopez. Even though I've been known as a defensive coach, we scored over 100 points in Dallas. I believe in an attacking offense. But you can't run without getting stops. They had trouble making stops last year. I've never had a player like Brook Lopez to throw the ball inside to. Overall, we're going to build the D, rebound, and move and run the ball. Rod Thorn We were a very poor defensive and rebounding team and had fundamental issues. Avery is very good with young guys and teaching. We have some pieces, we need other pieces, but Avery will be able to adapt and be an inspirational coach. Our talent was better than our record. We had a bad start, injuries, and we never recovered. We need to get more talent. Devin Harris We won a lot of games together and I think we can do that here. Brook Lopez (Bob Lorenz cracks a joke about Lopez's bright green sweater) You can already feel a culture change around here. I wish workouts would start already. (Talking about possibly bringing over a defensive big man who can play alongside him) There are some great big men in this year's draft. I've been following and I've looked at highlight reels, and Favors and Cousins both seem very talented. I tried to get down most of what was said, though there was some lag in the stream so a few things are missing. -
