I don't know the Rockets always seem to disappoint us early on the season (2004-05 they started 6-11 and 2007-08 we were 24-20 and 10th in the Western Conference before the 22 game winning streak), but they always seem to pull through when we hit the second half of the season. Same goes for Adelman, I can't remember how many times I have criticized him over the years but once the postseason arrives the man is a genius. However, something feels different about the Rockets this year and that may likely be due to our sloppy defense. Every Rockets team that Rick has coached has held Jeff Van Gundy's defensive values in the back of their minds, which made them a top 5 defensive team every season but with the remaining players from the Van Gundy era (Battier, Yao) on their last legs it seems there is no one else to hold those values. Still even with that aside, the Rockets as a whole have played great team defense and I don't know understand why everyone just suddenly stopped rotating, playing like they care on the defensive end, etc.
