  1. Get Dwane Casey, excellent defensive coach and is a workaholic. I remember reading that he would barely get any sleep during his tenure in Minnesota because he would spend countless hours working on plays/sets and watching film. He was my top choice for the Rockets job before McHale eventually won me over and I know htown was pretty upset that he didn't get it (Frank fell way behind Casey and McHale after the interviews).
  2. Its been pretty clear that we are likely heading into a rebuilding stage but you're right, we are still not committed 100% to it just yet. Scola needs to be moved before we can even think about rebuilding and Yao's health and rehab is going to have a lot to do with which direction the Rockets will ultimately go. McHale will make a good coach, he wasn't my first choice at the beginning either but at the end I was rooting for him. He's got great charisma, an intelligent guy and he makes players believe in themselves. He might not be that great with x's and o's but surround him with offensive and defensive specialists, which I think the Rockets are trying to do right now, and we're set. Who cares who makes the defensive sets and is calling the shots on offense? If the team is producing then I don't see anything to be upset about. Love this new method the Rockets are trying out, they got their motivator in McHale at the helm, inserting an intelligent offensive coach in the staff who successfully ran Adelman's offense with the Vipers (Finch), and now trying to get 1-2 assistant to run the defense. Its brilliant.
  3. Date: June 4, 2011 Time: 2:30 PM EDT Network: ESPN Final friendly for the United States before we go off into the Gold Cup. Whose going to watch?
  4. Not really, they have $3.7 million in cap space and all of it is going to be used on signing their draft picks (assuming they stand pat). Instead of wasting it on a Flynn deal, I think they would rather keep the cap space intact in case a deal involving the #2 pick comes up and the Wolves end up absorbing a bigger contract. Calderon could make sense but the Wolves don't view either one of Webster, Pekovic or Ridnour as bad contracts. Webster has actually been Minnesota most consistent shooter, Pekovic has struggled but Kahn likes him a lot and thinks he can improve and Ridnour has been decent but would probably be the man out in the event of a Calderon deal (no point in adding another point guard if Ridnour is on the roster). Minnesota still is absorbing $1.8 million in a Flynn + Ridnour for Calderon deal and considering that they don't even have a trade exception (Kahn was so brilliant to let the massive Al Jefferson TPE expire at the deadline), it might be wiser to put off any trade until they are absolutely sure they won't be needing that cap space in a bigger deal. At least that is how I view it.
  5. Great press conference, some of the questions were pretty dumb but McHale made good answers and I love the confidence that is radiating off him. The fact that he's a player's coach was emphasized a lot, love to hear it from Les and Morey. I think you are totally missing the battle strategy we have going into the season. http://wallpapers.free-review.net/wallpapers/24/tank_challenger.jpg
  6. Lol all the awkward interviews he must have.

  7. THE LAUGH IS BACK.

  8. Suns have no chance. Wizards maybe (6th + Young/McGee/Crawford) but I wouldn't like it for Minnesota. Just take Kanter and be done with it.
  9. He seemed to have lost all confidence after he came back from the ankle injury and played poorly for a few weeks. He had an okay rookie season though and got better as the season went along so the potential is definitely there. The guy desperately needs a change of scenery and a situation like Toronto wouldn't be that bad for him since the starting point guard spot isn't a lock (Rubio was coming in a year, might have played a role in his weak mentality). Anyways, Flynn makes $3.2 million and I can't think of any deal that would work out unless Colangelo uses the Bosh trade exception, which I think he would prefer to preserve.
  10. Heat are 4-2 on the road in the playoffs and while they did lose they game they were up 15 with half a quarter to go. There is still much reason for the Heat to be confident going into Dallas. IMO this is going to be one of those series where homecourt is going to merely be a small factor, both teams have won some very tough games on the road in the postseason.
  11. Well I am pretty [expletive]ing smart. Thanks for agreeing

  12. Safe to say the mock is dead? Another OTR sim league bites the dust

  14. Little over a minute left: Heat grabbed 2 offensive boards, good chance to build on their lead and crush some of Dallas' momentum. Instead Miami gets off 3 crummy shots and Dallas ties it on a fastbreak basket. This was the play of the game for me, poor shot selection by Miami although Dallas played marvelous defense.
  15. DIRK INJURED HIS OWN FINGER TO GAIN MAMBA BLOOD

  16. Dash is a much more intelligent Rockets fan than you.

    ^I concur

  17. I am stunned. I still can't believe what I just saw. Flawless execution by the Mavs on both sides of the court. Incredible.
  18. May 31 was the deadline for Rubio to reach an agreement, thought negotiations went dead after a while but then I saw this. Anyways its great to hear that he's finally coming to the NBA.
  19. Stellar defense from both sides but the Heat made key players like Barea and Terry out of the equation and their offense was just enough to get them over the hump. This is what they've done the entire playoffs, great win for Miami. Very much looking forward to game 2.
