The Nets and Raptors, the only two NBA teams with foreign ownership, will bring regular season action to Europe for the first time ever, matching up for two early March games at London's O2 Arena (shown here at the end of construction in 2007), according to Dave D'Alessandro of the Newark Star-Ledger.

According to D'Alessandro, the Nets have a long layoff after the late February All-Star Game in order to accommodate the transatlantic travel. The NBA has held regular season games outside of the United States and Canada before, but never in Europe and only once in the middle of the season (a December 1997 Rockets-Mavericks game in Mexico City).

The NBA has held season-opening games in Japan several times since 1990.

It is assumed, but not confirmed, each of the Nets and Raptors will have a "home" game in London. The city is hosting the 2012 Olympics. Neither of the United Kingdom's two current NBA players -- Luol Deng and Ben Gordon -- play for the Raps or Nets.
