Wallace promoted to starting five over Camby

--------------

Gerald Wallace has been moved into the Blazers' starting five in place of Marcus Camby.

This has little to do with Camby's knee woes and it appears to be permanent. The Blazers have been playing their best ball with Wallace at the four and LaMarcus Aldridge at the five, so that is how they will roll. Camby figures to get about 20 minutes off the bench while Wallace is now looking at 33-35 minutes nightly.

You serious? You guys will get killed 4-0 especially if Gerald Wallace plays at 5.. I mean, he's a really good defender.. One of the best actually but against 7 feet towers in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, he will get posterized at least 10 times a game. Bynum's length is too hard to stop.

Gerald Wallace plays the four, LA plays the five.

In a playoff series I'm pretty sure McMillan would start Camby at the five, especially when you consider how well Bynum has been playing since the allstar break. AB has just dominated the glass, if Portland wants to get abused in the paint then they'll stick with Gerald Wallace on hopes of outrunning and tiring us out but that wont work. Their best bet is to match our size.

And btw, Gerald Wallace is a really good rebounder for his size but this strategy will only be successful against smaller teams. Against us Portland will be lucky to win one game.

I think it was better for the Blazers to have Gerald Wallace as the 3, LMA as the 4 and Camby as the 5. Gives them more length in the starting line-up

but it also gives them significantly less scoring. starting Wallace at the four allows Portland to play Batum in the starting line. that makes them a lot faster and it drastically improves their scoring abilities. Camby will still get a good shake of minutes off the bench and this will help keep him rested for the playoffs.
