The Clipps were unable to keep pace with the Mavericks monday, falling on the road for the first time in five tries: 96-86. Corey Maggette scored 24 points, and EB had 20. Jason Hart had 14 points and 8 dimes. Jason 'J-Sing' Singleton added 10 rebs, picking up minutes for injured Tim Thomas.

Corey Maggette racked up 24 & 8, and EB drilled a jumper with wan tick left to force OT, but L.A. never led in the extra period, fallin' 103-100 in Oklahoma. Brand tied a season high with 37 pts to go along with 10 rebs.

Down by as much as 17, the Clippers used a 20-4 fourth-quarter run to rally to a 118-110 win over the Lakers. Corey Maggette posted career-high 39 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, while Elton Brand scored 32, grabbed 12 boards and tallied seven dimes. :rock:

The Clippers outmatched the Trail Blazers with stifling defense and aggressive rebounding in Friday's 107-89 victory to remain No. 8 in the West. Cat Mobley had 22 points for L.A., which has now won 8 straight at home against Portland. Elton Brand added 20 points and seven rebounds. Corey Maggette had 17 pts.

Dominique Wilkins of the LA Clippers, who arrived from Atlanta via a trade on February 24, scored 37 points in the Clippers' 134-131 loss to visiting Golden State, becoming the ninth player in NBA annals to score 24,000 career points.

Starters:

Danny Manning, SF: At 25, Manning had the best playoff series of his career, averaging 22.6 points per game with a 56.8 shooting percentage. In the Clippers' Game 4 win, he matched Hall of Famer Karl Malone's 44 points and 11 rebounds with 33 points and 10 boards of his own.

 

Ken Norman, PF: The guy most responsible for battling Karl Malone in the post, Norman did yeoman's work, including grabbing 14 rebounds in the Game 2 loss.

 

Charles Smith, C: The series was Smith's first postseason experience. After battling through a knee injury in the regular season that limited him to 49 games, Smith averaged nearly 30 minutes in the five games against Utah.

Former LA Clippers forward Malik Sealy died in an auto accident at the age of 30. Sealy starred at Tolentine High School in the Bronx, leading the school to the mythical high school national championship in 1988. Later that year, he took his game to St. John's, where he carved out a stellar career, putting together numbers bettered only by Chris Mullin.

Sealy was drafted by the Indiana Pacers with the 14th pick in the first round of the 1992 NBA Draft, and also played with Indiana, Detroit and Minnesota in an eight-year NBA career.

**June 30th, 1999 **

With the 13th overall selection of the 1999 NBA Draft, the Seattle SuperSonics selected Duke standout Corey Maggette. Later in his career, Maggette would spend eight seasons with the Clippers (2001-'08), and go on to set franchise records for FT made and FT attempted.

The NBA approved a franchise swap in which Buffalo Braves owner John Y. Brown and Harry Mangurian acquired the Celtics, while the Celtics owner Irv Levin got the Braves, who were later moved to San Diego to become the Clippers.
