Hornets set futility record in 77-62 loss to the 76ers

The Hornets entered Wednesday night's game against the visiting 76ers minus two rookie starters and one max-money player. Their coach, Monty Williams, entered $25,000 lighter in his wallet thanks to a fine for comments the NBA deemed unacceptable regarding its comprehensive concussion policy, which is currently keeping one of those rookies, PF Davis, out of the lineup. Had Williams had the foresight, he could have offset almost all of the 25K David Stern pinched had Williams decided to either fine his players a collective $1,000 per turnover Wednesday night, or $1,000 per made field goal.

The Hornets saw their modest two-game winning streak fall by the wayside thanks to a 77-62 loss to the Sixers at the New Orleans Arena, crashing to a franchise-nadir in the process by scoring the fewest points in a game in franchise history.

New Orleans turned the ball over 24 times, which the Sixers opportunistically converted into 26 points. The Hornets made only 23 field goals.
