With little wiggle room left on the roster less than a week before training camp, the Rockets traded guard James White to Denver, largely to give him a better chance to stick with an NBA team, a person with knowledge of the move said Tuesday.

The Rockets will receive the draft rights to guard Axel Hervelle, a 6-9 power forward from Belgium. Hervelle will likely remain with Real Madrid, where he is a teammate with guard Sergio Llull, a Rockets’ second-round acquisition in June. He averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds in 21 minutes per game last season.

Hervelle, 26,became the first Belgian player drafted by an NBA team when he was selected by the Nuggets in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2005 Draft.

Wish him luck in Denver.

I don't know why they feel an athletic wing is more important than a legit big who can rebound and constantly box out. Well I hope he can break out this year... :glasses:

Well you basically trade nothing for James White. He's been working hard all summer, improve his jump shot and will work hard. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being the backup SG to JR.

James White will never have a jumper. He had worked pretty hard on getting one while in college, had a shooting coach at Cincy, and it didn't happen.

On the plus side, he's super athletic and could play some defense, if guys like Chris Andersen would assist him in his timing, blocking shots weak-side.

Great... we needed a wing who can shoot even when Kleiza was still here. Now he's gone we need that more than ever, and he can't shoot? Oh well... defensively like you said, maybe he can be special and Ariza became a very good three pt shooter with the Lakers... so hopefully he can follow the same path.
