Universe Posted January 10, 2010 Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) Monday will be end of an short era for the third year forward as Sean Williams will be released to make room for Kris Humphries from Dallas. Williams career in the NBA began with highlights upon highlights as he was quickly showing why he was drafted 17th out of Boston College. While others stayed away from Williams due to maturity and off court issues, the Nets felt they’d have better luck than they did with former first round pick, Marcus Williams. He ended his first year as the starter having made it to All-Star Weekend in the Rookie / Sophmore game and had almost led the league in blocks per game. Williams finished the season with just under six points per game but a large two blocks per game. While many were looking forward to more, the Nets went out and drafted Brook Lopez and Ryan Anderson who both could play forward and center as well. Rather than earning his spot with the team, Williams came into his sophmore year regressed on his potential. Did Williams think he had the starting spot on lock because his lack luster desire to improve earned him a stint in the D-League where it all went down from there. Instead of looking to improve, Williams took the chance as a joke, even not coming out during an actual game. Fast forward two years, numerous compliants by coaches, police and other writers critism of his play, it was easy to see Williams could no longer be a Net and is why when Monday comes, Williams might not have an easy time finding a team because the rest of the league was watching through the good and the bad and recently it’s all been bad. Teletopez Posted January 10, 2010 Report Share Posted January 10, 2010 It seemed like every time he was showing positive signs, it was only for so long. What a shame. Reports came out today that this past month, he got kicked out of a club twice. The only time that his play hurt his chances was when he fouled out in 14 minutes this preseason. He did nothing in practice, and when he was sent to the D-League he became such a distraction that the Nets had to call him up to save their D-League team. I still remember when all the Nets fans were on his nuts, thinking he was going to be an allstar or something. Never bought into the hype. Now the dude's struggling to make a team. He needs to get his attitude straighten out, potential is definitely there. But with nutcases like him that rarely happens. He's an idiot. Universe Posted January 14, 2010 Author Report Share Posted January 14, 2010 If the Nets had a D-League team to what the Spurs have and he was willing to learn, he could have panned out. As for Nets fans being on his nuts: We were intrigued that our 21 year old forward could almost lead the league in blocks in his first year in the NBA. After his first year it dropped.
