SRT Spidey
serioiusly..they're screwed. 2 first round picks really?
ChosenOne
I think they are, unless they get a Lebron or Wade in the offseason. If the land no one (what I think will happen) they are really screwed for years and years to come.
YugoRocketsFan
They have Wilson Chandler, Danilo and David Lee, T-Mac wont be bad for them. He actually can still play, he just doesnt fit with the Rockets.
Guest Nomar Fachix
If we get top guys this offseason, we'll be picking in the 20's anyway. If we don't get ANYONE, as some of the scholars here are predicting, we're the worst if not one of the five worst in the league anyway. Top 1 and Top 5 protection... so which is it? Are we going to get nobody and somehow still be above the bottom 5 teams?

Check my Stats
LeBron/Wade/Bosh or bust after this trade, Walsh has set himself up to be the saviour or just to put this team into as big a hole as Isiah did, if not bigger. Before they could have settled for a 2nd tier FA and just picked up a nice prospect in the draft or move that pick for a stud, but now the well has run dry. Their only asset now is cap space, and Danilo/Chandler. A lot more is riding on 2010 for the Knicks than was 24 hours ago, they could have afforded to not get anyone in FA since they could have sat on those picks, but now they HAVE to get someone(s). Guest Nomar Fachix
Carmelo and Yao 2011. :glasses: Just joshing, but this team is not in an Isiah hole if they don't cash in during 2010. They'll still have the cash to craft a winning team... eventually. Isiah's club was handcuffed and couldn't do ANYTHING about it. At least now we'll have financial flexibility and the chance to sign/trade for whoever needed. I can see us losing out on 2010 and making a bunch of salary dump pickups during the 2010 season. Owner Real Deal Posted February 19, 2010 Owner Report Share Posted February 19, 2010 If we get top guys this offseason, we'll be picking in the 20's anyway. Are we going to get nobody and somehow still be above the bottom 5 teams? The 2011 pick is Top 1 protected, that's the biggest problem with the trade. Houston could very well have a #2 pick for 2011. What if the Knicks are a top three team in the lottery, but a bottom 10 team in the league? It happened with Chicago and Rose...nothing to be shocked about. Those picks should've been lottery protected, or at least the 2011 pick a top 10 protected. It made no sense to give up so much just to rake in McGrady, who has privately stated he's got more interest in the Lakers and Cavaliers than anyone else, which includes the Knicks. Either Walsh just made one of the greatest moves in NBA history, or he just made one of the dumbest. Problem is, he's banking on free agent decisions, and other teams' offers, to determine which it is.

It was his expiring contract being a match with ridding Jeffries. I acknowledge that the picks, in a perfect world, are protected. But the Rox wouldn't accept that, and this was the only way to rid Jeffries and have two eligible max contract spots for 2010. It's been Walsh's plan all along. Perfect world, yes, we keep our picks. Hell, maybe even keep Hill. But Isiah put us in this situation and Walsh is now fully purged of it. Gotta gamble big to win big. Sidenote: Weren't the Clippers just talking to Isiah about being an advisor or something? What the [expletive] needs to be going on inside a franchise for that to even be brought up in the discussion to discuss a discussion of a discussion to bring in Isiah Thomas as an advisor? Advisor of what? Listen to what he says and do the opposite?
Dash
I don't see any of the top tier guys walking away from $30 million. Even if they did, RD and Travesy made an excellent point in the other thread that there are other teams that seem more desirable for them. After the top tier, the rest of the players either don't make sense for New York or just aren't THAT good. IMO its Joe Johnson and Carlos Boozer or bust. Yeah I just looked it up and it was old (March of last year), but it happened. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4016566
Dr. Feelgood
Loving the Knicks right now, . Though, they did set themselves up pretty good for the offseason even though I think they wont get anyone.

andreusito
I honestly don't believe that they will get Wade, Bosh or LeBron, but as it's been said multiple times, this Free Agency period is so big, it's not even funny. WORTH READING FREE AGENTS: Yao, Joe Johnson, Rudy Gay, (keep) T-Mac, Ginobili, Redd, Haywood, Ray Allen, Shaquille O'neal, Jose Calderon, (keep) Al Harrington and David Lee, Roger Mason, Carlos Boozer, Ben Wallace, Ilgauskas, Mike Miller, Amar'e Stoudemire, Louis Scola, Jermaine O'Neal, Udonis Haslem, Raymond Felton, Raja Bell, Allen Iverson, Steve Blake, Rafer Alston, Marcus Camby and Brandon Roy. That's already 28. If New York gets to sign at least 4 or 5 of those, they are highly likely to be a playoff team in the East. New York is also a Top 3 team making profit, despite being very very, VERY, bad. Take that into the playoffs. The market is just huge. Hell, I would have given this a shot too. Makaveli
I'm sure they are hoping to sign a superstar during the off-season (which i doubt will happen) to make up for the lost draft picks.
