The Truth
That's why I was pissed. After the second time, he told me I got one more chance but then he e-mailed me saying he changed his mind and is now dropping me.still, you shouldn't have texted in class in the first place, and especially not after he gave you a warning. doing it in back to back classes after already getting a strike isn't a very smart move. we all make mistakes, I'm not saying you're not smart or anything, it was just a bad decision. Why do you sound so butthurt defending these teachers/professors whatever you wanna call them.lol I'm not 'butthurt' at all. I don't think extremely highly of professors, I just think they deserve to be respected by their students. like I said, if I was a professor and the same student was texting in my class all the time, I'd get pissed after awhile. Guru said it best, most have egos and don't give a [expletive] about the student.I think Flash said that lol. anyway, you're right about most of them not caring about their students, but can you really blame them? they have hundreds of different students each year. they don't have the time or energy needed to look after every one of them and try to be more than just a professor. their only job is to teach and if they're doing that, you can't really ask for much more. tl;dr thanks for involving yourself in a debate, then bothering not to even read the opposing argument. that's about as smart as thinking texting should be allowed during class. I'm not going to argue with you over something stupid like this.then why get involved in the debate in the first place? if you didn't want to argue about 'something stupid like this,' why would you even bother to post about it? And congrats, you've had atleast 20 teachers. Well I've had over 30 and graduate next year. fish7718
I've never been distracted by another student texting just saying. In my most of my classes I'm allowed to goof off on my laptop the whole class, which I do for my class in 2 hours.
trutrojan8
How do you get caught texting, let alone in back to back classes haha. I get on Facebook all the time during class and have never even gotten a warning.
JYD
How do you get caught texting, let alone in back to back classes haha. I get on Facebook all the time during class and have never even gotten a warning.well it depends on class size and [expletive]. some of my classes there are only like 15 students, so the professor can pick out the people easily. most of my professors are pretty tough on the texting [expletive], but they only call you out on it if you're sitting there on your phone all class. If you send a text real quick during the entire class, they won't bother you or probably even see you.
Lkr
I think the only way you get in trouble is if you are in a community college or a private college, because if you are going to a public university, there is no way there is a class small enough for the professor to even notice or give a [expletive]

You can IM on your laptop, you can take notes on your phone. How does the teacher know you are texting and not taking notes? If they allow laptops, you have to allow phones. If you don't allow laptops, you can encourage your students not to text but at the end of the day they will anyways. What college do you go to anyways? NomarFachix
Were you apologetic or defiant when he told you to stop texting? How about when he told you to leave the class, did you say anything? When he wrote you the e-mail saying you were out of his class, did you apologize? Ask for a second chance, ask back into the class? It's your future, so do what you want. But you'd likely be best served to get on the good side of all of your teachers, it will pay off. Just swallow your texting pride for two hours a week.

I told him I was texting my mom checking on her because she was sick (has leukemia) and he told me he doesn't care and I didn't get the message from him when he moved my seat. If that's truly the case and you have other students in your class who'd back that up as your story, why not go speak to the Dean? Would probably be pointless to put you back in with that professor, but he might throw you in another section with a new professor... Still fairly early in the semester. The Truth
Ugh you are so damn stupid. -_- wow, resosrting to criticism because you're incapable of forming intelligent arguments? I wasn't expecting that at all from you. seriously bro, you're in your mid 20's or whatever, on here calling people stupid? grow up. What is the difference between a laptop and a phone these days? You can IM on your laptop, you can take notes on your phone. How does the teacher know you are texting and not taking notes? If they allow laptops, you have to allow phones.that's horrible logic. laptops are used mostly to follow along in class (take notes, get info online, etc). you could hypothetically do those things on your phone, but everyone knows most students would only use them mostly for texting. some of these college classes have hundreds of students. if you allowed texting, you'd have classes where literally 200-300 people are on their phone at the same time. you can't tell me that wouldn't be a distraction for some of the people in the class. If you don't allow laptops, you can encourage your students not to text but at the end of the day they will anyways. What college do you go to anyways?Crafton Hills Community College. IIRC he's at a community college, which would explain itwow, good one. some of the smartest people I know are in community college. people who got 4.0's and above in high school go there just so they can save money and figure out what they want to major in. everyone who goes to community college is an idiot is like the most pathetic misconception out there. I'm in the college classes where there are hundreds of students and texting, laptop usage, leaving in the middle, etc is allowed in all of them. You have to understand that it is no longer the professors job to deal with students distracting other students. It is the students job. If it is really that big of a distraction, move or tell them to stop. It works. People are mature in real colleges.
The Truth
This argument fails...not even entertaining, both sides are making horrible cases, neither are insulting each other well either...then add to the debate. criticizing doesn't help anything. And most students only use their laptops to go on facebook. Your point is completely flawed.it's flawed to think texting shouldn't be allowed in class? lol, alright bro. from my experience, students actually use their laptops in class for school purposes. even if they're on facebook or some site that's unrelated to school, it's not nearly as distracting as texting. with laptops, people are just looking at a screen whereas with texting, people are flipping their phones open and shut and making noises when punching the keys with their fingers. that would annoy me after awhile and I'm sure I'm not the only student who'd feel that way. It works. People are mature in real colleges.so then why not just allow them to do anything? if they're already allowed to text, get up and leave, and do whatever, might as well let them talk amongst each other, throw things, pass notes, have sex, whatever. there has to be some kind of rules or policy in the classroom. without them, it'd turn to chaos. call me crazy or old-fashioned, but I think it would be the wrong move to allow texting in class. everyone would do it, some people would be distracted, and GPA's would probably decrease a result. I don't get why it's so hard for students to just sit there and pay attention for an hour without texting or wreaking havoc. it is college, after all. I have taken classes with 400 people and now I have more classes with 30-40 since I am a semester away from graduating, and none of my professors really care if you text. I have professors that tell us if you need to make a call or text step outside the classroom and do it, or do it without distracting the class, but at least in my experience the professor expects students to be respectful and majority are. I have had one professor who just told us to turn the phone off, and if the phone did start ringing he would just tell that student to leave plain and simple, but wouldn't waste his time policing the situation, just get rid of the student.
