  1. Once again, the Heat set out to expose Giannis' inability to shoot, and he started out missing a lot of shots. It kept Miami in the hunt. Once things picked up in the second half, the Heat were motivated to come out and steal Game 1, and they nearly did if it wasn't for a couple of mishaps in OT. But, you aren't winning anything when your two best players (Butler and Bam) shoot 4/22 and 4/15. If it wasn't for Dragic's play, Miami would've been blown out by 25+ points. The Bucks are a different team than they were last year. Jrue Holiday is on board, and the team knows who their closer is (Middleton). I'll take the Bucks in 6 games.
  2. Boston fought them in Game 1, but the Nets played pretty good defense in the second half of the game, and Tatum just seemed like a completely different player. The Nets just went into ISO-mode when they found themselves losing ground. What do you do if you're the Celtics? You need a guy like Ben Simmons to counter that, since he can guard multiple positions, and a big man waiting in the paint (like Embiid). Boston has that in Smart and Williams (hey, Williams had 8-9 blocks!), but there's just too much firepower, and Smart doesn't have a chance against Durant. Sweep. I won't say who wins.
  3. Just hoping for a 20/20/20 game from Westbrook, and Beal for 50. Philly could sweep, because the Wiz had their asses handed to them in March without Ben Simmons playing, but I think Washington can pull one out with those two having big games. Embiid is just going to dominate, though, and the Sixers' defense will smother Beal to where he'll have trouble getting the ball in his sweet spots, so there may be a couple of games where he doesn't attempt a lot of shots. I'll say Philly in 5.
  4. I think the Jazz will take the series, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Grizzlies gave them a run for their money in at least 1-2 games. They are a team that can grind it out when they are within double-digits, and the backcourt of Morant and Brooks is dangerous when they get hot. Rudy and Jonas should battle for boards. That'll be interesting to watch. I'll take Utah in six, because I'm still concerned about their health, but I'm ready to watch Ja go wild.
  5. I think he can, but he has to be on a defensive-minded team with an all-star stretch four or a facilitating point-forward (maybe) that can be his Robin. This current team? Probably not. They are awful on the defensive end, and unless you're unloading three players that can give you 30+ a night (like the Nets), you aren't winning a chip like that.
  6. It would be nice to at least bring back the contributing members. Even a few. Then, we could build things up and look active for the new blood coming in and looking at topics, because I see a LOT of visitors when I post on Facebook and Twitter. They just don't register.
  7. He's not Kawhi by any means, but I do think Mitchell has the ability to take over a series. He and Murray pretty much did that last year, when they went to war. I just don't know if he has it in him after recovering from his injury. But yes, I think they could give most teams a run for their money, but I'm not so sure about the Lakers or Nets. Anthony Davis would keep Gobert busy, and would open the flood gates for LeBron...and the Nets would cause them issues simply because of their big three (they are going to cause everyone issues). I will say that Utah needs to take Memphis seriously, though. The Grizzlies will fight for a win. Utah will have to keep Jonas off the offensive glass, and watch for Morant shooting long range (he may feel pretty good about it after the game against Curry and the Warriors). Might be a fun series.
  8. Let's try this one. Winner? Best player of the series? Any discussion? I don't see Portland taking Denver to seven, and they'll have to if they want to advance. They have the firepower, but nobody is stopping Jokic this series, and I don't see anyone being able to slow down MPJ, either, since he's now getting the ball much more. Denver in 5 or 6, depending on whether or not Lillard drops 40+ in a couple of games.
  9. Here's the third WC game...and we'll know who's playing the Jazz after tonight (GSW). Who wins this series? Best player? Discussion? This one will be a fun series, IMO, but I don't see Dallas winning more than one game. They'll keep it close, because I feel like the Clippers tend to let off the gas in the postseason, and it really hurts their rhythm. Doncic will put up a couple of triple-doubles, but Kawhi and PG will give him fits. Plus, the Clippers are the best 3PT shooting team in the NBA, and Dallas tends to back off a bit and let teams shoot from 20+ feet out. Clippers in 5. Luka will have a huge game, but the Clippers have too much talent for the Mavs.
  10. I think I'd have to put Doncic over Curry. I know it seems like the Warriors are playing with a slim roster right now, but they do have Wiggins and Draymond. Curry's 30+ every night is winning them games, but so is their defense, which is ranked 5th as of right now. Doncic has a hobbled Porzingis, Hardaway Jr. and Brunson...decent role players and a borderline all-star that can't stay on the court. Plus, Luka's numbers are ridiculous across the board, a near triple-double. He's a less athletic Westbrook that can shoot, and he makes better decisions on the court. And...Dallas is 5th in the West. But again, like you, my guy is Joker.
  11. Man, are you anticipating Lowry's departure? Because if you believe he's leaving, I'd cross my fingers for the Raptors to look at Davion Mitchell, out of Baylor. I've watched most of his games (since Baylor is in the Big 12), and he's a pretty good shooter and a great defender. He had some really good games against Kansas State and Texas, and he didn't do too bad in that championship game against Gonzaga, if I recall correctly. Otherwise, the draft is filled with a lot of decent wings, but I think you guys are good there. There's really only one big man I can think of that would help you guys out a little, but I'm not sure if he's worth passing up Mitchell. It's Kai Jones, out of Texas (another I've watched in the Big 12, haha)...but that's drafting a player on potential, because he didn't do enough to earn a lotto pick if you're just looking at his numbers from last year. Evan Mobley is the best big man in the draft, hands down, but you'd have to trade up to get him, because he's going top 5, if not 1-3. That would be your franchise player.
  12. It is REALLY hard to get a message board up and running nowadays. People use desktops and laptops far less than they used to 10 years ago, and the truth is, it's difficult to post paragraphs in multiple topics using your phone. None of us really want to spend that time doing it, when it was much easier on a desktop. I still use a desktop, so I'm all over this, lol.
  13. I started thinking about this the other day, when someone mentioned that Russ was a former MVP and one of the most criticized players in the league today. The truth is, he's arguably the most athletic player in league history, and he's a walking triple-double. He is currently averaging a triple-double AGAIN, and while we were all in awe over Oscar Robertson averaging one, Russ has done it multiple times already. So, it may seem like a ridiculous comparison, but maybe not. Is Russell Westbrook a better player than Oscar Robertson? He has the numbers and the MVP award to back it up.
  14. Whether you're a Celtics fan or an fan of another team, do you prefer: Jayson Tatum (26/7/4 on 45/38/87% shooting, 22 years old) OR Jaylen Brown (24/6/3 on 49/40/76% shooting, 24 years old) as your franchise player?
  15. Mine would be... 1) Michael Jordan 2) Kobe Bryant 3) LeBron James 4) Larry Bird 5) Magic Johnson 6) Julius Erving 7) Jerry West 8) Kevin Durant 9) Stephen Curry 10) Oscar Robertson It pains me to say this, but I think I'd have to place LBJ over Kobe if he wins a 5th ring, just because of all the personal accolades (which come from media voting, FYI). Larry over Magic was tough, but Bird was a complete player, and that's why I listed who I believe are the only four complete players in NBA history first (no true weaknesses). Magic had five rings, but he had the better teams and coach, especially with Kareem playing exceptional basketball up until the final couple years of his career. Magic wasn't much of a defensive player, either, and while he could give you 40, you didn't see him turn into a pure scorer for stretches of games when necessary throughout his career. It's hard for me to stick Oscar Robertson any higher on this list UNLESS I decide to put Westbrook right there with him. In fact, there's an argument that Westbrook is the better offensive player, almost as efficient if you take away the three that Oscar didn't (couldn't) shoot because it wasn't on the floor back then. We raved about Oscar averaging a triple-double for one season, and now, Russ is going on his fourth. Finally, I put Durant over Curry (second best PG) because KD is the better defender, and one on one, he's nearly unstoppable from anywhere on the court. However, if Curry continues to play the way he is right now, and KD doesn't have any success in Brooklyn, he may jump Durant on the list.
  16. When giving your top 10, it's tough to place any of the bigs among the rest, because their skill sets are different. So, without big men, who are your top 10 greatest NBA players? Do not include Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, Wilt, or Russell (the obvious), or guys like Barkley, Dirk, and Garnett (who can play big or as if they were a guard). Wing players who play PF these days (on small ball teams) can be in your top 10.
  17. As of tonight's loss vs. the Spurs, the Wizards are 10-2 in their last 12 games, on an 8-game win streak until this loss. This is a team that was so bad, they were basically considered eliminated from the playoffs midway through the season. If the Wizards can finish strong, they can find their way into one of the play-in spots, or even the 6th seed (a stretch, but it's possible). So far, they have lost every game against the Sixers, Bucks and Knicks (I don't count the Nets because nobody know how to play them at full strength), but the Beal/Westbrook duo has never been better over the last 2-3 weeks. Interesting storyline, to say the least. John Wall leaves a struggling Washington team and goes to a Houston squad that is in pieces, while Russ heads to Washinton and struggles greatly until the last dozen, and now we're talking playoffs.
  18. A lot of trade/free agent talk over the offseason involved the Bucks and what piece they need to send them over the top. Part of those talks were the fans entertaining fantasy trades for Middleton. Do the Bucks need to deal Middleton for a different player to play behind Giannis? Can they win it all with KM as the second option? OR, do they try and deal Middleton for someone like Bradley Beal, who would immediately become the primary scorer over Giannis?
