Word has it he did it because McGuire wasn't contributing to the team, like Joakim Noah. http://i50.tinypic.com/28s0bpk.gif

Ball movement, Orlando? Those jumpers being missed are allowing the Jazz to run up and down the court, getting easy buckets in transition. If the Magic don't start pounding the ball inside again, this 11-point lead will feel like 22.

Kobe, LeBron or Wade. I wouldn't want to defend any of those guys by myself. Since Kobe is the better defender of the three, if I had to pick one, he gets the nod.

Cavs: Contenders or Pretenders?
Real Deal replied to Cleveland's Finest's topic in Cleveland Cavaliers Team Forum
They are still contenders, but they have plenty of holes to fill. Shaq is a liability on pick and roll situations...we all know this, and it has been that way since he weighed 330-355 pounds in Los Angeles. On offense, the Cavaliers aren't going down low to Shaq. They don't run the offense through him...and they are right in not doing so. The only problem with that is that it puts only four active Cavalier players on the floor (yes, not technically, but you get the picture). Basically, when Shaq isn't touching the ball, he isn't involved in the offense. His job is to gain position in the post, demand the ball and either force his way in for a simple hook or dunk, draw a foul or kick it out to shooters. Shaq doesn't fit. If you have a player like LeBron, who feeds his shooters, you need bigs who are able to hit shots, or at least move out of the paint. With Shaq clogging the lane, you force James to the perimeter, he loses another 18-foot threat (because Shaq and Varejao shouldn't be taking 18-foot jumpers), and the defense doesn't have to collapse in the middle, making it that much more difficult for LeBron to make a play. This was the same exact problem in Phoenix, and everyone should've realized that from the start. Nash wanted to hit his shooters, get his layups off of screen and rolls, and have a teammate to throw oops to out of them. Shaq was slow, he was too big, liability on defense, just didn't fit well until he started getting the ball dumped into him constantly. It turned Phoenix into a completely different team, they allowed tons of points in the paint against a Spurs team that dominated them inside out, and they had no shot at a conference finals because of it. -
...and everyone was pouncing on Iverson's play against the Pistons? Billups sucked on offense, embarrassed on defense by Bynum, and above all that, they lost to a below-500 team in Detroit.

As far as adding more staff goes, please don't worry about it. Things like this...they happen. The guy posted 50 topics or so in 15 minutes. The site can't have moderators on every 15...that's just unrealistic and only happens on RealGM.

I'll see if I can find you guys another common IP, because I'm getting a few guests viewing both sides, yet neither are registered on the site... And no, it's not BTA's fault. My guys know how this is...so no worries.

By the way, I would say that Wall is a Derrick Rose clone, especially after watching him play college ball. When he gets into the league, he's going to need to be with a team that runs, because Wall can get to the rim, and finish, better than most guards at the collegiate level right now...but running a half-court offense, I don't know if he would be able to in the NBA. It just limits what he can do on the floor.

You missed seeing him dominate those high school guards, then. He's going to be pretty good.

We have a chance.

West teams can't match up with Lakers
Real Deal replied to kingfish's topic in Los Angeles Lakers Team Forum
I'm getting less and less worried about Boston every game they play. They came out looking good, but I'm starting to see Sheed is just terrible, Garnett's rebounding is down, and the Celtics are having to rely on Perkins a lot more than I expected, and that's going to be a problem when Bynum and Gasol are playing the center positions. Yeah, Boston beat us in 2008. That was without an all-star center in Bynum and a very good defender and spot-up shooter in Ariza. I'm definitely not going to bite my nails over the Celtics. -
McGrady has never been a lockdown defender. Lockdown defensive players on the perimeter would be Ron Artest, Bruce Bowen, Kobe Bryant, Jason Kidd, etc. McGrady would never, ever get his name mentioned in that group.

Wow, that fourth was amazing. 28-6, and that 27-2 run. Didn't expect that.

Wish I had all of them, but when I reformatted my computer, I lost quite a bit (one of the DVD's I burned didn't work, and it had all of my OTR stuff on it, which is why we lost our old backups). The only banners I have are probably the previous ones, and maybe one other style...and I've changed banners three times in 2009 alone.

You know the league is weird when the leaders in blocks and rebounds are both true small forwards.

Don't even read past that. If you want an example of how stupid this article is, go look at the Spurs being below Houston, Oklahoma City and Utah, and look where Charlotte and Detroit are. His projected wins for the top teams are Boston and Orlando at 58, and the Lakers at 57? No 60's? He also goes on to say Denver and Phoenix have a better chance of winning it all than Boston and Orlando. Never read Hollinger. His articles are worthless.

People you know/knew that play D1?
Real Deal replied to Celtics3420's topic in General NCAA Discussion
http://www.otrbasketball.com/forums/topic/7475-mitch-rolls-colgate Didn't go to school with me, but I know him. -
If KG's knees are bugging him, you won't see it until April, and it'll be against bigger, heavier players that take him down low in the post. That's been the deal with almost everyone recovering from knee injuries that play the C or PF positions. Those knees will hold up for 80 games, but that's around the time they start hurting, and once he's asked to defend someone like Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol or even Zydrunas Ilgauskas, he's going to have to make sure he's not holding his ground with the back leg being the injured one, so he may have to adjust and rely on help defense from Perkins.

Would you take these players on your team?
Real Deal replied to kingfish's topic in General NBA Discussion
None of them. If we weren't in the triangle offense, though, I'd take Iverson and start him over Fisher. -
Keep in mind that it's not 100 greatest, everyone...but his favorite 100.
-
Wow, well, I could've called that last play by the Grizz. You knew it was going to happen. Shaq has been a liability on the pick and roll since his time with the Lakers.
-
Jennings back to his shooting woes. He's gotta step it up soon, or Milwaukee will eventually lose that lead.
