  1. Also, this Punk feud has been a huge disappointment. Instead of these guys trying to one up each other, and prove they are the best in the world, we get cringe worthy promos of Jericho talking about Punk's family being alcoholics? Huge, huge disappointment, for me at least. Jericho is so overrated its retarded, honestly besides his HBK feud a while back there hasn't been a single thing he has done that has interested me (I could be forgetting something, but damn).
  2. Honestly, all things considered, the Rock-Cena match was as good as it could have been. Rock was somewhat stiff, but the match was still more than passable, and it was a classic even if it wasn't 5-star wrestling ability.. Rock honestly looked really decent when you consider how long he's been out and the fact that an injury would [expletive] up everything lol.. he didn't really play it overly conservative which I had expected. Taker-HHH was sick, but I think it is the weakest of the last 4 of Taker's matches, the emotion was crazy, but I don't know, I just felt the last 3 were better, especially the HBK ones (not even up for debate imo). Also, for the record, this wrestlemania was not great (imo). It was incredibly boring save 2, maybe 3 matches (the Punk match would have been a lot better if the crowd was into it, felt sorry for anyone going after Taker-Trips though).... I will openly admit that the Cena and Taker matches were both classics though. I don't know how you don't put Ziggler in a singles match, he is the best worker in the damn company. With all these guys coming back, it is lining up to be a pretty incredible year in wrestling. WWE has to realize they are going to have to make some stars though, that's why I kind of hope Rock is gonna feud with someone through the summer like Punk, or my dream, Ziggler. But the money is obviously in a Rock-Cena rematch (and a Brock-Cena feud), which I am guessing will happen next year at wrestlemania for the title, where Cena will win. Overall though pretty exciting times to be a wrestling fan. Raw could have some attitude era type ratings if you get Rock AND Brock both on the same show... at this point Brock might be the biggest draw possible after how mainstream he got through the UFC.
  3. I [expletive]ing love Scotty Hartnell, and all players like him for that matter. Those are the kind of guys you go to war with.
  4. this crowd is electric. hope they can maintain it until the big 3 matches start up.
  5. I wonder who will be the best pro of them all. I honestly think it could be any of them, Barnes is just so suspect.
  6. What do you want? Rock and Cena have no history, what are they supposed to talk about in the 10 or so segments they have had together in the past 8 months or whatever? The feud built itself up. There doesn't need to be a "build up" through segments. The match itself is the build up... it is literally one of the 5 biggest matches that could ever happen in wrestling history. The segments could have been better, but like I said, there just isn't enough material to work with (they don't like each other, that is literally all they have to work with). I think the segment that ended Monday night was pretty good. Enough good stuff has happened that the promo video should be pretty good, though not on the level of the Trips-Taker video (that shit gave me goosebumps and it ain't even WM yet). Also, Triple H didn't bury Punk. Punk looked incredibly strong in that match. Losing a match does not = getting buried.
  7. This would only benefit 30 people (well 29 for now). I will let you guess who they are. I really hope this doesn't happen. They're have been rumblings about it for years in pro sports leagues, but I really hope it doesn't, even though it seems as though it is just a matter of time. Anything for these guys to make a quick buck I guess. It's not really a big deal, it is just annoying more than anything.
  8. I love Dwayne Casey, but God damn he [expletive]ed Bayless over hard this year.
  9. This season stings more than the last few because I honestly believe, talent-wise, we should be a 7th or 8th seed, or at least close, and there is no excuse for a team like Florida making it over us. Just goes to show there is more to being a playoff team than just assembling some decent talent... hard working players (not softies like toronto) and disciplined coaching goes a long way to being decent. Everything is in Burke's hands now. He needs to get at least 1 or 2 top 6 forwards (one of which is a first line C), a couple hard nosed bottom 6ers (Travis Moen I would love), and solve our blue-line issues (we have too many, and some just aren't good enough). I would say he needs to get a goalie, but for one I don't see him doing it (unless a sure thing is available and he is under 29 years old) because he believes so greatly in Reimer because he has played 40 good games in his career, and secondly, the price tag is probably going to be just too high on guys like Schneider, or St. Louis' goalies. This should be an interesting and exciting summer to be a Leafs fan, because I am expecting a ton of rumours and moves made. If Burke doesn't make significant additions to this team, he's done, and rightfully so.
  10. Toronto sells their soul for one and then regrets it a season later.
  11. The playoffs aren't a tree format, it resets after each round with the best team playing the worst. You try and finish as best you can, because if you are first, you instantly play the worst team left in your conference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2009_Stanley_Cup_playoffs In that example, Boston played the 6th seed in the 2nd round, not a 4/5 seed. As far as I know, the system hasn't changed. This is why playoff hockey pools are such a bitch lol, because you know nothing about who your team will be playing beyond the first round until the games start. For all i know you could just be assuming that the 2nd and 3rd seeds win, but I don't know. I would just try to finish as best as possible because you never know what will happen once that puck drops.
  12. Those 3 matches at the top ARE the show. Bryan and Sheamus has potential as a match, but unfortunately the build up has pretty much sucked. Pretty disappointed Ziggler is going in without a significant match. He is someone who has show stealing potential, but he won't really be able to do it in a gimmicky match like that. Definitely a must watch PPV though for the Rock alone. The Taker-Trips build up has been amazing too.
  13. Cue the senseless end of season run to help us finish outside of the lottery.
  14. James Harden is a 22-5-5 player on any team where he has a role. Kid is a straight stud. That team is going to have to make some difficult decisions next year... he is going to get max money or near it, and they can't give him max money to be a 6th man. Just another reason why trading Westbrook makes so much sense, Harden can be a 2nd banana in this league for sure, especially when you consider the return for Westbrook would probably be amazing. That CP3-Westbrook swap would have been amazing for both sides.
  15. I am Canadian and while I consider myself indifferent, I think Hasek is better.
  16. Until his contract is up... sterling ain't gonna pay 2 coaches.
  17. Honestly stopped reading when he had Tristan as the 2nd overall pick.
  18. Radulov is back. This makes things very interesting in the west. Nashville is a team I would definitely not want to be seeing in the playoffs. It will be interesting to see Radulov now though, he was tearing up the K and was already really solid before he ditched the NHL. Adding a guy with point per game potential to that team is a huge boost. He will probably be their best offensive player from the get go.
  19. Same. Not even success-wise (though having a contender would be nice lol), i just love how that team is built and how they play. Also to ECN, I don't deny that Burke isn't some sort of great GM, but at the same time I won't call his entire tenure a failure (disappointment more likely) because when he got here he had nothing to work with. His biggest faults I think are honestly his ego (obviously) and his inability to temper expectations. He tried to win immediately (though this could have a lot to do with ownership) rather than build slowly through smart signings, drafts and trades, and that burnt him big time. He traded so much for Kessel when there was nothing else here, but for how bad that move was, he also has made his fair share of very good deals (the Lupul thing was complete luck though I do not credit him for that). I am not going to sit here and argue over Brian Burke because I don't really care enough to, but I would prefer to give him 1, maybe 2 more years; I won't hold him responsible for the first couple of shit years we had because when he came in we might as well have been an expansion team, but next year will have been 3 years where he could have made us a legitimate playoff team, but didn't, and at that point, I think your assessment can be fair. But I don't think it is really fair to call him a failure when he came in with really nothing to work with. I would call him more of a disappointment than a failure.
  20. Pretty crazy that Bayless has a higher overall PER than Jose this year in spite of all his supposed faults. I was a huge Bayless advocate last year, and will continue to be... not just because he is younger, but because he is better. His per 36 stats have always been very solid. The biggest thing missing in Bayless' game his entire career has been lack of stability. He has never been given that chance that other young players are to go through growing pains and play through it. Bottom line, its time to find out what we have in this kid, we need to throw him in the water and let him sink or swim. Jose isn't going to be here forever (thank lord), and we need to know what we have in Jerryd, because there is no sense in drafting a point guard if they aren't going to be significantly better than Bayless. I still think Jerryd can be a starter in this league in the right situation. he isn't going to improve his point guard abilities if he doesn't get the minutes though, and it is pretty obvious to everyone he is a completely different player as a starter than as a bench player.
  21. You are ignorant if you think the Leafs are in the exact same position they were in when he got here. Just look at our roster and our farm system, that alone should make you reconsider your stance. He isn't some great GM, but he is probably better than someone who would replace him if we fired him. His ego is just unbearable, he needs to check that shit at the door. Yeah we haven't made the playoffs since he got here, but when he got here Matt Stajan was also our best asset, we were loaded with numerous shit contracts, and we had nothing in our farm. We are in the same position in the standings maybe, but that isn't all that matters, our team is in a significantly better position than when he got here. The biggest mistake Burke made was trying to win out of the gate (see Kessel trade, Komisarek/Beauch signings), rather than build slowly, but that could be blamed just as much on ownership as on him, because we know that MLSE was definitely breathing down his neck to win immediately. Also, not sure what Leafs fans you have talked to, but more than not want him fired, I am not one of them though because I would rather him as our GM rather than someone else who best case will be just as good as him. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0000382009.html You honestly think that team there is just as bad as our team now? We actually have something to build from now, as opposed to then when we had nothing.
