  1. I know what you are saying. If you put Reed back in the 80's, he sure as hell would probably dominate just as much as Lott did. That is where "best" and "greatest" differ. Also, Lott led the league in INT's multiple times as well I believe, and if not, I'm positive he led at least once and finished 2nd once as well.
  2. What do you want to compare? The amount of Pro-Bowls, First-Team All-Pro selections, Super Bowl rings, Lott's HOF selections(Reed will be there too), or unanimous rankings with Lott #1? Ed Reed still has time to catch up, but to say he's on that level right now is somewhat absurd. If someone plays for the U, you'll say they're the best at their position. If you said Ray Lewis was the best LB of all-time, I wouldn't disagree, but calling Reed the best safety at this point in time is going overboard.
  3. What would you expect him to say? . He was never a cocky or arrogant player. He said what was politically correct. Ed Reed has a chance to be considered the "greatest", but he's sure as hell not there yet. Ronnie Lott made eight 1st -Team All Pro teams, and Ed Reed has four. There is a chance that Ed Reed surpasses Lott, but it's tough to say considering his health. I don't think "greatest" and "best" are the same thing. One has four Super Bowl rings.
  4. Having no bias whatsoever, you won't find too many people who agree with that because that honor belongs to Ronnie Lott. I know you're a Miami U fan, and Reed went there, but he still has to play at a high level for the foreseeable future. He has a chance at becoming the greatest possibly, but he's not there right now.
  5. We just need one more person for 12 teams. Everyone that has signed up so far is usually active, so it shouldn't be much of a problem.
  6. That sounds good. Unless three more people sign up every quickly and I know they are active, we will just do a ten team league.
  7. That's what I was thinking. I would prefer 10-14, but if we can't get that many ACTIVE people, then maybe we can do 8 teams.
  8. A prime Ray Lewis was ten times the player that Urlacher ever was. He's probably the most over-rated defensive player in the past ten years.
  9. I didn't get to watch the game tonight because I was at work, but how did Kevin Kolb look tonight, and how did Ernie Sims look if anyone noticed? .
  10. Who do you think is the best defensive player in the NFL today? Which player would you take if you had the chance to choose one defensive player? I think it's obvious that in today's NFL, the most important position is a pass-rushing OLB, which is why I would choose DeMarcus Ware. I think you can find much more depth with CB's than you can with an elite pass-rusher. I know a lot of people will probably say Derrelle Revis or Patrick Willis, but I think Ware's impact on the game is greater than those two. I think Willis has a good chance at winning DPOTY this year and for years to come with the 49er's current defense, but elite MLB have less effect on games in general than and elite pass rusher. And, I just don't like Derrelle Revis. He's a whiny little [expletive]. .
  11. He's more known for his blocking than his ability to catch the ball. That is what he is most known for. At least list some everydown TE's that you think are better blockers. I think he's the best, and there was a poll on ESPN or some site that had a vote for the best blocking TE, and Vernon Davis got the most amount of votes. Now, I'm sure that some of those came from people just knowing his name now, but he is an elite blocker. If you want to list Jason Witten and Daniel Graham, I won't argue too much about it because they are very good blocking TE's, but I do not believe they are better than Vernon Davis. This is a year or two old, and It's a very small sample size, but it shows the value that Davis has when he's blocking: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/777/how-vernon-davis-fits-into-49ers He had Just TurnOvers for his QB that season, a [expletive]ty O-Line, and no WR's that season.
  12. No. I don't want him to get hurt, but I've always been sick of his antics with retiring and coming back. It's just annoying. I think he'll have a very good season this year. However, his Hail Mary last year sucked. .
  13. http://www.nfl.com/preseason/story/09000d5d819e5396/article/childress-favre-will-start-in-vikings-sunday-game-vs-49ers?module=HP_headlines I'd love to see Willis or Mays lay him out.
  14. It's funny because every time I mention blocking, he mentions penalties and drops, which I never denied. Also, he never addresses the points of any posts, but rather just talks about ppf, which is doesn't have a good reputation, AT ALL, and mentions the penalties and drops over and over, which no one denies. Again: 2008-2009: Coaches choice, and it wasn't because of his receptions or yardage. You do the math. 2009-2010: Started because of his statistically great season. He didn't need to block as much last season, but when he did, he was superb. And, again, the whole stats argument makes no sense. On the offensive side of the ball, stats are a much better indicator of performance than interceptions are on defense. Interceptions can be a result of being a [expletive]ty CB and getting thrown at a lot. Getting a lot of catches on offense means that you are targeted often, and most certainly a good player. So, you're whole point of stats makes NO sense whatsoever, so you can stop comparing a TE to a CB. . You're making yourself look like a moron, and can't address any valid points, and keep comparing him to Jarius Byrd. . You guys are more obsessed with Vernon Davis than I am. . Every chance you get, you just try and bash him. . I should just start Tony Romo choke threads every day, or Miles Austin one-hit wonder threads.
  15. 29 isn't old for a DT. The point is, that the team is not nearly as old as people really think they are. Inexperienced? Sure. Old? Nope.
  16. Philly is one of those teams that you can never sleep on. No matter how poorly they play at certain points during the season, they are always there at the end. Having Jackson and Maclin is absolutely potent.
  17. It's going to be a 2007-esque season for the Patriots, so they will win it by 2-3 games. They look extremely sharp, and Brady is still waiting for a contract. The defense is younger than it has been in recent years, and has learned a lot since last season. This pre-season, Bill Belichick spent more time with the defense than he has spent with his defense over the past five years or so. I believe in the Dolphins a lot more than I believe in the Jets.
  18. No, we never did. . There's a reason I don't predict records, and that's because I'm superstitious. Did I think the Patriots would win? I sure as [expletive] did, but I never bet on it. You, hobojoe, and TNK were the only Giants fans on that site, so I remember it very well, and I never bet on it. I don't bet on any Boston sports teams, so you're just making stuff up so you can say you won a bet or whatever you want to accomplish. Please, do tell me what I bet you on if you remember it so fondly.
  19. Also, for the Hakeem Nicks poster, I won't be responding because you're on my ignore list. :glasses: .
  20. Oh, they're old? They're "old" offense has only been one of the top offenses in the NFL for the past five years, and their defense is actually very YOUNG. People keep thinking that the defense is old, which it used to be, but no longer is. Wilfork Mayo Spikes Merriweather Chung McCourty None of them are old, and will all be starters on the defense. I wouldn't be surprised if the defense struggled, and I hate making predictions about the Patriots, but they will win the division by 2-3 games.
  21. The Jets are going to be in for a long season.....or a short season depending on how you look at it. The defending AFC East champions only got healthier and better this off-season, and everyone is on the Jets nuts. It's fine though because the Patriots excel in the underdog role. I also think the Seahawks will surprise people, but hopefully I'm wrong.
  22. You're still making zero sense. The whole point is that you are trying to say he is not a good blocker, or not even a very good blocker, which is completely wrong. The whole part of starting the pro-bowl is in comparison to ppf, which doesn't know nearly as much as the players and coaches, who voted Davis to start. I didn't mean to say Gates. I think he was a 3rd alternate because of an injury or something, but he had very few receptions that season, so there's only one reason he was selected, and that was because of his blocking.
