Roy Halladay Not Interested in Resigning With Blue Jays
Teletopez replied to Built Ford Tough's topic in Baseball Forum
What? There's no correlation between those two things. When I say solve problems with young guys, I mean sending Cano's hitting uphill, getting Melky to work harder to earn the CF job, and allowing Phil Hughes to prove his worth when we move him to the 'pen. I love how the Yankee haters criticize Yankee fans for how annoying they are whenever you try to argue with them, but you guys aren't much better. This has NOTHING to do with our payroll, and yet you have to bring it up. -
... and he did just that. 5/5 from the field in the third quarter and Portland has an 18-point lead.
-
Portland was off to a good start, but it seems like Minnesota cut the lead. Roy's shooting 3/10 from the field, and surprisingly, he's missed all four of his FT's. Minnesota should watch out for him opening up the lead early second half.

"I think it's going to be difficult to have two max contracts"... "we will definitely have room for one and another large contract." "I think it will be a very good draft." "I can tell you when he [brandon Jennings] came to work out for us, we liked him a lot"... "they play a very different style over there [Europe].." "I think it's going to take Sean a little longer to get it together"... "It seems like in the last 4 or 5 games he's turned it around." Kiki also mentioned that not picking up the option on Sean doesn't necessarily mean they're ruling him out of their future. "This summer he [Chris Douglas-Roberts] put in as much work as I've seen anybody put in"... "(joking) I don't know how he's had time to tweet." Interviewer: Alright final question, this is from Keyon Dooling, I think he wanted me to ask you. Are you going to pick up his option next year? I told him if it means the Nets are getting LeBron I'll see ya later. But when will you let Keyon know, he's anxious? Kiki: (laughing) We like Keyon a lot, he's had a tough time. I know he's anxious because he hasn't played yet, but he'll get back on the court and prove his worth. He's been tremendous for us and we miss him a lot. Full Interview (Audio)

Roy Halladay Not Interested in Resigning With Blue Jays

We have Hughes, Montero, and Jackson. Hughes has already been amazing for us. Even if Montero or Jackson struggle, our organization has found ways to solve problems with our young guys in the past. I guess you can go either way, it's a tough decision to make. -

The new Toronto GM says he will look at trading within the division, which can be better for Toronto. The Yankees and Red Sox may compete with bids and Toronto may get a lot of pieces in the end. The Yankees need to be careful with what they offer. I've read a lot about Phil Hughes, Jesus Montero, and Austin Jackson getting involved in talks. There's a lot to consider. Would you rather get Halladay and have a very good chance at a few more rings in five or six years when he's with the club or would you have guys like Hughes, Montero, and Jackson, who have 15+ years to play in their career? -
1) We need to box out and time our rebounding better. 2) We need to make stops on defense when it matters most. 3) We need to take better shots when it matters most.

I don't know what these officials are seeing, but they've probably missed three foul calls in the last two minutes. We're hanging in there, but the Knicks seem to keep pulling away whenever we come closer.
-
Welcome back, Devin Harris! He turned it over the first time he had the ball, but then he drove to the basket on a fast break for a layup, and then found Lopez for a one-handed alley-oop on the next possession.
-
Apparently, this game's been getting a lot of media attention. I guess two struggling rivals squaring off is something to look forward to, haha.
-
Two things I hadn't noticed that I just read. CDR has a 91.5 FT%, which is third in the NBA. Also, the Nets haven't allowed any of their last 6 opponents to score over 100.
-
He's kept a balance between the jumpshots and scoring in the post. What's wrong with him taking jumpers every now and then if he knocks them down? I have no problem with the way he's playing. I don't think he's gotten into foul trouble once in the last two weeks, and even though his defense has been shaky, you're obviously going to see flaws in a sophomore.
-
Link That's as weird a story as I've heard.
-
Yep. I thought he was pretty happy in Jersey, but he's really having a fun time in Orlando.
-
This is, in a way, a must-watch game for all NBA fans. A combined record of 2-21 between the two teams. We have no idea what to expect. It could be a blowout and an ugly game from the start, or it could be a close match throughout.
-
What an ending. No one saw Smith coming in for the follow-up. Not much you can do with 0.7 seconds remaining, but Houston had a better shot at a miracle inbounding it short than long. 7 wins in a row now for Atlanta.
-
Wow, that's one of the few times you see a foul call in the final seconds. 11-1 run by Houston to tie the game with 5 seconds left.
-
As expected, Harris is coming off the bench tomorrow. You can't help but think about the last time he came off the bench in his Nets debut .
-
It's pretty entertaining watching Pierce hit jumpers right after a foul on the floor and seeing his reaction to not getting the And1.
-
Harris' Twitter We've heard T-Will say he wants ROY, and now Harris say he wants 6th Man of the Year. Of course it's a joke, but he's been trying to come back as early as possible after all his injuries, and the determination in the team despite the record is something you have to applaud.

Link This is the second time CDR was frustrated with Overton, the first being in a practice last year. It's also the second time we've seen CDR showing his winning attitude. He called out his teammates after a game a couple weeks ago in an interview.
-
It's a mix of injuries and lack of experience. You can see a significant difference in any team when they don't have two of their starters. We don't have four of our starters, along with a key backup PG. And when you're a young team, you can lose confidence easily and have trouble succeeding under pressure. I've come across two articles involving the possible firing of Frank. Here's one of them. NBA.com How many times have we seen a coach getting fired in the middle of the season, and the new coach sends the team uphill for the rest of the season? If wins mean something, we should probably keep Frank rather than risk having to wait for the new coach to adjust. I'm pretty sure I already read Thorn saying he's sticking with Frank for some time. And it makes sense. What good is looking at videos of previous games when a good amount of the players from those games are gone? It's a matter of luck with his decisions. He's trying a lot of things for the first time with limited guys, and he can't tell whether it's a success or not until after a couple of games. And hey, we've had some great defensive games, and Lopez has been able to put up better numbers now that he's stayed out of foul trouble. There's not much blame you can put on Frank.
-
Harris said he's playing this Saturday when we're home against the Knicks. We go west after that for four 9:00-10:00 games. We usually stumble on the Thanksgiving road trip regardless of how good the team is. If we don't win before the end of the road trip, we'll be 0-17.
-
Really quite a shame how we have yet to hold on to a lead this season. On the bright side, CDR kept getting to the stripe and had another 30-point game. The time he spent in the gym this offseason has made a huge difference. The rookie comparison was interesting tonight. T-Will had 20 points on 8-15 shooting with 10 boards. Jennings had 19 points on 6-13 shooting and 8 assists.
-
And the third quarter ends up a disaster once again. We're held to 12 points. We're still in comeback distance, though. Lopez has been sitting a lot today since he's been on the floor almost the whole game these past couple of weeks. The officiating is making this game harder for us.
