Is a true PF the answer for the Atlanta Hawks?
Dash replied to Real Deal's topic in Atlanta Hawks Team Forum
Agreed, Horford isn't a center. -
Didn't go for best player but what would have made the most sense if the teams were actually having discussions. Atlanta Hawks: Josh Smith / Al Horford Boston Celtics: Kevin Garnett's expiring Charlotte Bobcats: Bismack Biyombo Chicago Bulls: Joakim Noah Cleveland Cavaliers: 2012 first round pick Dallas Mavericks: Tyson Chandler Denver Nuggets: Nene / Gallinari Detroit Pistons: Greg Monroe Houston Rockets: Patrick Patterson / Kevin Martin Indiana Pacers: Danny Granger Los Angeles Clippers: Eric Gordon Los Angeles Lakers: Andrew Bynum / Pau Gasol Memphis Grizzlies: Zach Randolph Miami Heat: Chris Bosh Milwaukee Bucks: Andrew Bogut Minnesota Timberwolves: Derrick Williams New Jersey Nets: Brook Lopez New Orleans Hornets: Chris Paul New York Knicks: Amar'e Stoudemire Oklahoma City Thunder: Serge Ibaka / James Harden Orlando Magic: Dwight Howard Philadelphia 76ers: Andre Iguodala / Evan Turner Phoenix Suns: Steve Nash?? Portland Trail Blazers: LaMarcus Aldridge Sacramento Kings: DeMarcus Cousins San Antonio Spurs: Tim Duncan Toronto Raptors: Jonas Valanciunas Utah Jazz: Enis Kanter / Derrick Favors Washington Wizards: John Wall?

Agreed with CMS. Nash should move on to a contender and try to win a ring one last time and the Suns need to get out of mediocrity, despite what Nash thinks he isn't helping the team at all by staying.

Brandon Knight's angry face at the draft
Dash replied to Real Deal's topic in Detroit Pistons Team Forum
It was a combination of falling so far and getting drafted by team that already has enough guards as it is. Regardless you have to be feeling good if you're a Pistons fan, sure the franchise is a mess right now but you have two very good building blocks in Brandon Knight and Greg Monroe. -
You're the Memphis Grizzlies' GM...
Dash replied to Real Deal's topic in Memphis Grizzlies Team Forum
Do you look to re-sign Zach Randolph? I believe management extended him so yes. Do you try and deal Rudy Gay and his four-year, $69 million contract? No. Ignoring his contract he could be the piece that propels this team into a strong contender. If Gay is unable to defer to Zach Randolph and the team struggles then I would look into moving him, but right now I would keep him. Is OJ Mayo on the block? Absolutely. Mayo is coming off a strong playoff performance and there is still potential oozing out of him so there is no doubt in my mind that teams will certainly be interested. If I can get an upgrade at the two guard or three then I would pull the trigger. How important will it be to re-sign Marc Gasol (matching any offer sheet, plus giving an extension later)? Very important. It was the frontcourt of Gasol - Randolph that got the Grizzlies one game away from the Western Conference Finals. Memphis isn't a contender without Gasol imo. -
Kyrie Irving. The Cavs aren't a team that has to worry about needs, just take the best player on the board.

How close are the Pacers from becoming a legit East contender?
Dash replied to Real Deal's topic in Indiana Pacers Team Forum
I could see them giving a top team fits in a early playoff series (like they did this past post-season) but they're still a year or two away from becoming a contender themselves. 4 of their 5 starters are 25 years old or younger (one is only 21), nothing they can do about that but continue to develop and have management add more pieces through the draft or trades. -
Good stuff RD. The Rockets banner is sick.

Is it time to deal one of Boston's big three?
Dash replied to Real Deal's topic in Boston Celtics Team Forum
Regardless of what the Celtics do they are done as championship contenders but given how weak the East is they can still be a strong second round team, and potentially get to the ECF (won't get past Miami though). If they decide to keep it together than they have to go out in free agency and sign a serviceable starting center (Dalembert?). I wouldn't close the door on dealing one of the big three especially Kevin Garnett, who has the largest expiring contract in the NBA. Tracy McGrady's expiring net the Rockets a 20+ ppg scorer, a prospect, a pick swap, and a first round draft pick. Considering that the new CBA could possibly make such an expiring even more valuable makes think that Ainge should explore the possibility of blowing it up. Then again if the Celtics allow Ray Allen and Garnett to expire along with Jermaine O'Neal and Kristic then they could have enough to offer a max contract and be a major player in free agency. Its going to be interesting what Ainge decides to do. -
Damn that sucks. As a Rockets fan I was really looking forward to McHale having the whole summer to work with our bigs.

I would have dealt Hickson to the Suns on draft night for the 13th pick and take Kawhi Leonard. Would have made sense for both sides unless the Suns like Markieff Morris more than Hickson.

Gut feeling is that the NBA lockout will last much longer than the NFL's. If I had to take a guess when it would end...probably by winter.

I'm the only one in this thread that likes Casspi? Well damn.

Terrence Williams. The starting small forward job is up for grabs and Terrence has all the tools in the world to make it in this league as an all-star. It just depends which T-Will we will get at training camp, a more determined 3 year veteran or the whiny kid that lets the world know his frustrations on Twitter.

^Nope not yet. Nene Hilario: Denver Nuggets although I do think he'll give strong consideration to the Heat, but it depends heavily on the new CBA. David West: New Jersey Nets, gives Deron Williams another low post scorer to pass and West/Lopez would make a formidable frontcourt...at least offensively. Tyson Chandler: Dallas Mavericks, won't leave the team that won him a ring. Kris Humphries: Washington Wizards, they got money to throw around and could use a young rebounding 4 to go with their core. Wilson Chandler: Denver Nuggets, I don't recall the Knicks rumor but even if that were true I think he'll resign with the Nuggets. Marc Gasol: Memphis Grizzlies, ownership will have to dig deep in their pockets but there is little doubt that Gasol will be resigned especially after their recent playoff run. Yao Ming: Houston Rockets, can't picture him ever leaving. DeAndre Jordan: Los Angeles Clippers, ownership wants to keep Blake happy and will match any offer for Jordan. I do view Houston as a legitimate destination though. Tayshaun Prince: Oklahoma City Thunder, OKC already have their building blocks for the next 5-10 years but in order to get over the hump they need veterans. Prince would replace Jeff Green off the bench and give the Thunder another lockdown defender. Jamal Crawford: Atlanta Hawks, iffy on ownership but resigning Crawford to a short 2-3 year deal would make sense. Rodney Stuckey: Detroit Pistons, even with the Brandon Knight pick and logjam at the guard position I think he'll resign. Thaddeus Young: Philadelphia 76ers, Sixers should bring him back and keep working to getting younger. Jason Richardson: Orlando Magic, there is no definite word yet that Dwight is on the move next season so resigning Richardson and attempting to return to contention would be their best bet. Aaron Brooks: Phoenix Suns, don't think they'll give up on him after one season. Mario Chalmers: Miami Heat, no brainer but I think the Heat might get some competition for his services. Greg Oden: Portland Trailblazers, management just made a $8.8 million qualifying offer. Enough said. Aaron Afflalo: hard to imagine all 3 major pieces to the Nuggets playoff team resigning but bringing back Afflalo is a must. Andrei Kirilenko: thought he would be heading elsewhere but the Jazz didn't draft a forward so I think he'll be back for at least another season. JR Smith: I can't view Smith and Thibs as a good fit but the Bulls need a shooting guard...badly.

^That protection makes the deal much better for the Kings. I wouldn't say they "stole" Hickson though, the pick will likely be a mid first rounder (Kings will be in the playoffs conversation by 2013) and Casspi is a damn good prospect that just couldn't find a niche in Sacramento. Hickson can score the ball and rebound but ideally the Kings would want a shotblocking defensive 4 (Biyombo anyone?) next to Cousins. Hickson doesn't fit that bill, which is why I've been skeptical about this deal.

Kris Humphries is coming off a breakthrough season, averaging rebounding numbers similar to Kevin Love (14.1 rebounds per game to be exact) along with 14 points after the All-Star break, but the Nets have also been linked to 2 time all-star David West. Highly doubt that the Nets would come out with both after free agency so they will likely have to choose between them. Which of the two power fowards makes the Nets a better team?

I remember you back from CTS. Welcome, hope you stick around. Rockets fans are taking over OTR. :glasses:

I'm an idiot. I knew something was off when I read Thornton and Udrih were in the starting lineup last season, forgot Tyreke was injured during that time. Anyways I'm not a big fan of having Thornton, Evans and Fredette all in the backcourt even if one of them will be coming off the bench. Too many of those "I need the ball in my hands to be effective" types and there is also Cousins.
