Lawmakers to Consider Medical Marijuana Bill

By Ann-Elise Henzl

November 16, 2009 | WUWM | Milwaukee, WI

Two Democratic state lawmakers announced Monday that they're co-sponsoring a bill to legalize medical marijuana. It will be the subject of a public hearing Dec. 15. One of the sponsors, Sen. Jon Erpenbach, believes there's enough support to get it passed.

Advocacy groups and patients say marijuana can help sick people regain their appetite, and deal with pain caused by their diseases.

Thirteen states have legalized medical marijuana. Gov. Jim Doyle says he would support it, if users have a doctor's prescription.

Considering the Bucks are doing so terrible, marijuana might heal the depression of Bucks fans.

It should get medically legalized soon for you dudes from Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bucks guy, you better fake an eating disorder.

Nahh you can drive while you are high, its not bad at all. Testing for it would be pointless.

Yeah right dude, its still dangerous as hell. I have been high as [expletive] and driving was scary for me. I think driving drunk is easier although I dont condone either of them.

NJ: Politicians speak out for medical marijuana

Trenton- Republicans and Democrats have been making the news more often addressing medical marijuana. In the last four weeks, some politicians in New Jersey have been voicing ever stronger support for cannabis related issues in the Garden State.

Assembly Speaker Joseph Roberts told the Newark Star-Ledger on Nov. 15 that the medical cannabis legislation would be a priority for the upcoming lame-duck sessions in Trenton.

Codey and Roberts say one big lame-duck goal is to make New Jersey the 14th state in the nation to legalize marijuana for people with debilitating illnesses. Corzine has said he would sign the bill; Christie said it needs more restrictions but supports the concept of medical marijuana.

"We need to provide compassionate medical marijuana use to people who are suffering," said Roberts. READ Newark Star-Ledger article in full

With the American Medical Association changing its stance, people are beginning to accept the medical values, this is great.

You new jersey guys are so lucky.

Its obvious people just want it to be legal so they can do it without paying the consequence. Not many people really care about the benefits of it, they just want it to themselves. Don't act like its not true.
