Built Ford Tough Posted November 11, 2009 Report Share Posted November 11, 2009 The injury-hit Washington Wizards plan to sign veteran guard Earl Boykins to bolster their depleted backcourt, sources told ESPN.com. NBA front-office sources said Wednesday that Washington has targeted Boykins to get through an injury crisis that has felled Randy Foye (ankle), Javaris Crittenton (foot) and Mike James (hand). And star guard Gilbert Arenas, still recovering from three surgeries on the same knee, strongly considered skipping Washington’s loss Tuesday in Miami because of recent soreness before deciding to play at the last minute. Boykins has been eager to return to the NBA after spending last season in Europe playing for Virtus Bologna in Italy’s top division. Source Thoughts on this potential move? Gee we have too many defensive holes, not enough continuity and ball movement, and too many shot-happy chuckers. Let's go sign Earl Boykins to solve these problems! Gee we have too many defensive holes, not enough continuity and ball movement, and too many shot-happy chuckers. Let's go sign Earl Boykins to solve these problems!The signing is a temporary fill in for our injured guards, not to solve our "defensive holes". Foye is out with a sprained ankle, Miller is out for his shoulder, and James with his broken finger. At the moment, we have no true point guard backing up Gilbert. Young is purely a shooting guard, and Deshawn is a joke no matter what he does, so he definitely isn't a backup point guard option. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
