  1. They're sitting 4-7 right now, and this schedule definitely isn't in their favour, we all know that. So I am wondering, does anyone actually picture this Celtics team missing the playoffs? If so, what do you suggest they do moving forward? Is the window on this team finally air shut?
  2. Next up: Nick Young. Wall and McGee are the only players I am holding onto if I am the Wizards. It is going to be a long season regardless, so might as well just clear up cap/roster space and try to add a late pick or two if you can, and hope you can add someone like Anthony Davis in the draft, or a guy on the wing who can light it up. A lot of people are throwing Wall under the bus, but I am in absolutely no rush to do the same. Kid can only do so much with an incompetent coach and a roster who thinks this is a pickup game. Kid does need to stop taking pull up J's though, that's for sure. I also still don't get why Vesely was such a highly touted prospect? Kid has role player written all over him, which is cool and all, but not that high in the draft....
  3. I have absolutely no problem with a player SIGNING with a team in free agency. Once you're a free agent, do what you want. Hell, even if you request a trade that's fine, but don't pick and choose who you will be traded to. What Dwight is doing is so wrong, forcing his way to the Lakers is so wrong. If the Lakers want Dwight, gut your roster like Miami did and sign him; LA has no business trading for Dwight Howard as far as I am concerned (though I have been open to not complaining against a Pau AND Bynum deal, even though I don't think it is ideal), Orlando should be looking for a deal like the Hornets got. The problem is that players are the draw for fans in this league, and they know it. The top 15 players run the league, and they know it. It's why Melo is a Knick, why CP3 is a Clipper, why LeBron is playing with his friends, etc. It shouldn't be that way, but unfortunately it just is. The best hope for "the rest of us" is to hope for some luck in the lottery. Basketball players are probably the worst athletes in all of professional sports, and that's why we have to keep discussing this shit.
  4. Calgary is in early post-lockout Leafs mode right now... it just isn't gonna happen guys.. trade Iggy and start from scratch, its for the best.
  5. Leafs have enough fringe first/second liners, and Schenn is one of our best remaining assets, so like BFT, I too would rather see him moved for an upgrade (with us adding other pieces). It is a pretty lateral move, and our forwards are actually already pretty good. I feel like Schenn is the kind of defenseman that you neglect when you have him, but once he is gone, you will wish you had him back, especially come playoff time. I am a huge fan of the kid, and I hope that the only situation we move him, is for a legit first line player (looking at Anaheim).
  6. The fact LA won't give up both for Dwight is hilarious to me. Value-wise, they walk away huge winners... Pau is approaching value-less eaach passing year, and Bynum's value is pretty spotty as well with his injuries. Bottom line, if you can get a top 5 player, without giving up your best player, you do it. When you can put two top 5 players on the same team together, you do it. I am sure if LA was sending both Pau and Bynum, they could convince ORL to add some nice role players, especially when you consider the cap situation, they'd probably have to. And if Hedo is included, well I'll be damned if I say it, but the guy is almost productive this year, in fact, he might be better than ever (look at those percentages!). I think people confuse phrases like 'well managed' and "stingy"/"abusing locational leverage" when they describe these so called well managed franchises.
  7. There you go Laker fans, deals do die at the last minute to teams besides yourselves. Same shit happened with MJ.
  8. Marbury was actually almost a competent player when D'Antoni ran him out of town, so him. Francis was just so bad at the end.
  9. No one should have given him a chance ever. Arguably my least favourite player of all time, so bad.
  10. It would have been interesting if Ovie didn't make it honestly, just for his response, maybe that would motivate him. The guy is an absolute enigma now. Leafs with 3 all-stars, though Phaneuf is pretty borderline, Lupul and Kessel definitely deserved to be there. I can't remember the last time the Leafs had 3 all-stars, or even 2 for that matter.
  11. Sounding more and more like a significant move is on the horizon for Toronto.
  12. I see worse travels on a gamely basis. That is the NBA, get over it.
  13. Maybe, maybe not... all that matters is he could just about any night he wanted to. It might be harder for him this year though, seeing as how he is avoiding taking 3's so much. If I had to bet, I would probably bet no, but with LeBron, you never really know.
  14. Miami in the east and no one else... a couple teams might have an outside shot, but in terms of favourites, no, no one else. The west I think OKC is the major favourite, with LA a ways behind, all depends on Bynum and Kobe really. I am becoming a pretty big fan of Portland as well.
  15. Sounds like Jonas will be starting again tonight. Haven't shaved during this little win streak, and have said I won't until they lose, so here's hoping they go on a nice streak here lol. Still waiting for a power move from Burke, feeling more and more like there isn't going to be one this year. I think I would be okay with that though. If we miss the playoffs that will suck, but I would be fine, because we are going to keep getting better. I always forget how young our team is, and with Colborne, Kadri and Gardiner getting better each passing day, I would be fine if we just held onto them... besides, finishing in the lottery might be better for us, as it gives us a very attractive piece to move on draft should we choose to do so.
  16. I'd have given him 10 games personally. No place in the game for taking someone out low like that. It is one thing when there is incidental contact to the head, or when the puck carrier is (often) skating irresponsibly prior to contact to the head, but in this instance Marchand went out of his way to execute an extremely dangerous hit. It is lucky Salo didn't get hurt on the play. How Marchand doesn't get muffed after that play is beyond me, absolutely no accountability. Shannahan can do all he wants with suspensions, but it is the players who are going to have to police the game. Players rush to jump in when someone gets smashed cleanly in open ice, but when a class act like Salo gets clipped like that, no one is breaking Marchand's face? A disgrace as far as I am concerned. If the Canucks weren't Canadian, they might quite possibly be my least favourite team ever. To be clear I'm not on the Burke crybaby bandwagon... I have no problem with the Colton Orrs of the league being gone, but you don't need to be a designated fighter to keep the "rats" in line.
  17. Anytime a professional basketball player, especially someone who isn't a typical big, cannot shoot a competent free throw, it aggravates me greatly.
  18. I would like to see them add another quality big to their rotation.
  19. You aren't alone. I think the new playoff format would be absolutely terrible.
