Obama And The White House Government Shutdown
JYD replied to EastCoastNiner's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
Lol...Not exactly. My high school math teacher that's 33 years old who makes 50K a year just has way too much in his favor.........sureeee. He once told me that he left a job making 80K to be a teacher because he wanted to make a difference in Education. We need more teachers like that. We need to pay public teachers more money so it is a more desirable field, we need to keep the benefits they receive, but we definitely need to overhaul the tenure system; there needs to be a way to rid of poor/lazy teachers (which, despite what many say, and I think maybe it varies per state, but NJ has a pretty good public education system, but MOST teachers are not lazy, they may not be very good teachers, but they are trying) because there are still too many teachers just not doing their job. However, with that said, you can't just get rid of the tenure system completely because teachers can be fired way too easily....Administrators (which, there are way too many of making like 120K a year, and they do nothing) can easily fire teachers then who they think "aren't" doing their job, but may have their own teaching style that works, but the admin's don't like it, or personally don't like the individual and their views, etc. So, just ridding the tenure system completely won't work either. There's no "snap your fingers and it's fixed" with the Education system in America. Far too many variables that go into it. However, Christie's clear vandetta against Public school teacher's is just not the way to fight the issue. -
Same thing, pretty much. PEMDAS is (Parenthesis, exponents, multiplication, division, adding, subtracting).

Obama And The White House Government Shutdown

He's not a beast. The way he's handled the entire situation is completely wrong; cutting 820 million dollars for the NJ Education system is not the right way to improve education. He's only making things worse. And yes, we spend way too much on national defense. That money could be invested in many other things such as environmental problems, education, jobs, etc. -

Ryan's budget plan is an absolute joke: http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Columns/2011/04/07/Wealthy-Get-Free-Pass-in-Ryan-Budget.aspx -
His new album sucked anyway. Biggest waste of 10 dollars of my life

Perfect example of how far from the truth that is, what do you mean "wasting" hard working people's money? Republican's overspend on the programs that benefit them, such as overspending on defense. And once again stereotyping state workers by saying they sit on their ass all day and do nothing is another comment that makes you look like an ignorant jackass. CB, teacher's pensions, etc. Chris Christie's fight against teachers in my home state of NJ is borderline comical. -
World Star Hip Hop And The African American Image

The stereotypes of African-American's existed far before WSHH, but I guess I can see what you're saying. Ignorant black people piss me off lmao -
True, and judging a player on one game is ignorant and my mistake, I admit. But I would definitely say overall Howard is a better defensive player than Igodoula, Battier, and Garnett in his prime.

Yeah true, the entire situation really is a mess. Lol pretty much. I love how conservatives think liberals overreach their power with big gov't, etc. all that rhetoric bs...when in reality, republicans only want small gov't where they want it (less oversight for companies, less taxes for the rich, etc.) Well, considering you and him seem to have pretty similar views, I'd strongly suggest you start listening to hm. Maybe then you'd realize how much of a jackass you look like with some of the commentary that comes out of the two of you. -
You're mad late on everything fam, there's a thread on pretty much everything you post lmao.

Socialized Medicine At Its Finest
JYD replied to EastCoastNiner's topic in Off-Topic Discussion Forum
I'm just saying that Sicko was a good film; I didn't believe everything in there, but as someone trying to gain education on the issue, it definitely raised some interesting points, that's all. Like I continue to say, I'm not naive enough to think that it doesn't have an agenda. Like any Michael Moore film, it does. As for Krugman, Krugman is definitely one of my favorite writers. I read a few publications everyday, and I'd have to say he's probably the more intelligent and articulate that I've read. I don't see why you don't like him, well, besides his starkly different views than you. I'm studying journalism, so I guess you could say he's one of my inspirations. You will be the #1 reason I support socialized medicine. (Sorry Flash & ECN) I just said it certainly raised good points; not saying it wasn't biased or didn't have an agenda - it definitely did. -

I love how Republicans and right-wingers cry about the "obamacare" as they call it, but when it comes to Progressive legislation such as Medicare or Social Security for Seniors, or even unemployment insurance, they are quick to say that those programs should not be cut. But when very similar programs are presented today, it's automatically socialism. It's honestly laughable that average American's buy into that. -

Here's a very good take on it by Paul Krugman NY Times Columnist and Princeton professor, one of the best writers in the U.S. right now. I'd love to meet this guy. -

That doesn't really counter my claim that the average Canadian citizen likes it, though...Government involvement in Health Care is supposed to help the middle-class and low-class... -

Interesting. From what I've heard from Canadian citizens, they seem to think their health care system is pretty good. -

Who are you to say? From what I've read on the topic of Health Care worldwide, the Canadian system for the most part is considered a success, sure it has it's flaws (as pretty much any system will have - and I don't think a complete gov't overtake is the right thing for the Health Care system anyway).... -

You should really watch a movie like John Q, or really looking into the Health care industry in America. I forget the Michael Moore documentary on Health care, but it was quite interesting. Definitely biased to an extent (not saying it didn't have an agenda) had a lot of interesting facts in it...but I was on the fence about a health care bill that would make more government involvement but when I saw those two in particular I started leaning towards what Obama and Hillary Clinton for a while has called for... Another great book on the health care problem in America, Pretty good read I'd highly suggest it: http://www.amazon.com/Critical-What-About-Health-Care-Crisis/dp/0312383010 -
Ahh. Gotcha.

Hahaha. Funny. Garnett was a great defensive player but not as good as Howard. And Iggy just got torched by Melo, no way is he a candidate for DPOY. He's a very good defensive player but he's not even close to being the best.
-
Ok,but an example as what? Vince Carter was absolutely a much better player, and for a longer time period than Arenas. Lol, what? Says who? And I'd have to say T-Mac was definitely better than VC. I'm still undecided if VC is a HOFer, I'm leaning towards NO, but it's very very close.
-
Why can you only play in the summer? And what you shoot? lol
-
Sit down Philly!!! Lol!!! Melo with some big shots. Knicks were rolling til Billups got hurt. Hopefully he can get back for next week, I think it's apparent that he'll definitely be out next game vs. New Jersey.

Vince Carter was way better than Gilbert Arenas^? Can't believe you brought him up...

Tom Thibodeau. What he's managed to do with this team this year is incredible. Missed Noah a decent amount of games as well. And he's got this team to one of the top, if not the top, defensive team(s) in the NBA. Very impressive job, can't believe it took so long for this guy to become a head coach. Also want to say the jobs Doug Collins and Lionel Hollins have done have been pretty damn impressive as well, though.
