Because everyone had a PS3 or 360 already and plays with their friends online. The majority of those people wouldn't think to purchase a Wii in addition to what they already own. I think it's more of the Wii being released too late rather than it being labelled childish. I've played the Wii and it's a lot of fun, but it doesn't even touch what the other 2 consoles provide.
