Didn't read the entire article but there's nothing to deny. Kobe is still a good on ball defender, but his off ball defense has sucked the last 2-3 seasons. He can still successfully slow down opposing guards but heavy minutes, an increased offensive burden, and an incompetent defensive supporting cast is taking away from his game on that end of the floor. I wasn't high on D'Antoni when we signed him, and I still have no faith in him to turn this season around. It's silly to expect one of the oldest teams in the league to play uptempo all in the while not putting emphasis on defense.

So on a more serious note, is Mike McCarthy on his way out as hc? Not sure how the Pack can bring him back after this embarrassment and his last playoff loss.

You would do anything to cover up for this offense. If it wasn't for the early int, and the miraculous catch by Jones the Packers would have a lousy 7 points. Heck, even there last drive was aided by penalties.

They've had one legitimate scoring drive tonight, I wouldn't get too excited.

Outside of that one pass to Jones the Packers haven't done squat offensively. You make it sound like defense is strictly based on turnovers. Justin Smith is pushing the the pocket, and forcing the Pack to double and triple team him. It's a simple concept, if you double/triple team him it gives other guys more chances to make plays. Not sure what's so hard to understand.

He doesnt have to have put up flashy stats to make his presence felt. Packers defense has to account for him more than anyone else, and that really just opens up opportunities for others. Niners got killed through the air and ground the last couple weeks. So far they've held Aaron Rodgers in check, and I accredit that to the Justin Smith affect more than anything else.

Amazing how much of a difference Justin Smith makes on this Niners defense. It's seriously day and night.

And also one of the worst officiating jobs in postseason history.

Well this sucks. Officiating sucked and was extremely biased but the Broncos made uncharacteristic mistakes today. This is gonna be a tough one to swallow.

They've been running it on first and second down on both their possessions in OT. There's no deception in their playcalling.
