  1. I'd go three years, yeah. Am I insane? Probably. I guess it's just all of my frustration of watching this team for the last decade. They need a star player in the worst way. As crazy as it sounds, I think risking it on Bynum is probably their highest percentage play. Unless they tank for Wiggins next year, which probably has a 0% chance of happening. Just sick of investing so much time and money into a team that has a 0% chance of winning anything meaningful. Even last year. One game away from the conference finals, but they still had absolutely no hope of getting past Miami or OKC with that roster. So that's why I am willing to try something with such high disaster potential. Just for that tiny chance that he is healthy and makes the Sixers relevant, lol. But obviously, if we do find out for sure that something is significantly worse with Bynum than we know already, this is all subject to change. And I figure the Sixers doctors will probably know as well as anyone.
  2. Skip Bayless is a professional troll, so I am remaining skeptical. There has been absolutely no news from any worthwhile sources in the past few days, other than the rumor that he may have surgery soon, which has been floating around for a while and is gaining traction now with the Sixers season all but finished. When Woj, Bucher, etc, or any of the local beat guys who are around the team every day have something to say, then I will listen.
  3. Guys...relax. Lol. The "may never play again" thing, while it MAY be true, is just speculation by RD. This situation sucks, but there isn't really anything new being reported here. But yes, obviously, as a Sixers fan, this season has been absolute hell. I really hope all the Laker fans are capable of sitting back and realizing that, as rough as this year has been for you, it could always be worse. The Sixers situation is downright horrible. (For the record, I still fully support offering Bynum a 2 or 3 year deal. Whatever it takes to get him back here)
  4. If they miss the playoffs they get the pick. So yes, they get the pick.
  5. Yep. Misplaced frustration. Sadly, he will always be a villain here (especially if he leaves this offseason, haha), even though it is not his fault at all. On a different note, maybe I am crazy but I still want Bynum back next gear. Like, really badly. To the point where I'd offer him a much larger contract than most sane people would. That's how badly I want to see a star here to play with Jrue. Blowing the cap space on Josh Smith or the like (and I am 95% sure this is what they will try to do) will just guarantee mediocrity for the near future. Either risk it on Bynum or totally tank for a year or two, IMO.
  6. In fairness to him, it's not like the team has been very up front with the media regarding his condition either. Awful situation all around. And today, for the first time, he suggested that he might not play this season. So the tiny sliver of hope I had that we'd see him this year is totally gone now. Oh well, maybe it's for the best. Will be a wild offseason for sure. Will define the next 5 years of this team, most likely.
  7. Yeah, I dunno. I was more just surprised that there has actually been dialogue about firing Doug for that press conference, lol.
  8. A day late, but this Ric Bucher tweet yesterday was pretty intriguing... http://sulia.com/channel/basketball/f/c98b9014-bca2-425b-9600-57ef4b932418/?source=twitter The fact that Bucher has this information in the first place suggests that letting Doug go is, at least, under consideration. I still doubt it happens during the season, though.
  9. Gags scored in his first game back. His line (with Couturier and Talbot) was easily our strongest for the whole game. Great chemistry. He looked solid on the 2nd power play unit too. So maybe there is something left in the tank...
  10. I feel bad for him because the team sucks, and I don't think Phil Jackson could do much with this group either. With that said, he is not helping matters (unless the master plan is to tank, haha). Ugly situation all around.
  11. I wouldn't say Schenn is bad, he has been useful. But he seems like a high pick who has already maxed out his potential and won't be any more than an average player. Evan Turner-ish. I always thought JvR had the chance to be really good with a bigger role. He only got one real chance to be a top line player here, and that was the beginning of last season. But then he got hurt and Scott Hartnell pretty much took his place. In happier news...Simon Gagne is back!
  12. Welp, all of my fears about the JvR/Schenn trade are coming true. JvR playing very well with an increased role, and Schenn is incredibly average.
  13. Had tickets to this as part of my 10 game plan. Got my ticket for $15 before the season. Checked StubHub before going to the game, saw tickets in my area were going in the $95 range. Damn, totally should have sold it. Oh well, always fun watching LeBron and Wade in person. Seemed like the Heat were toying with us in the first half. Was totally predictable that it would get blown open late. Also, amazing that it takes a 25 point 4th quarter deficit for Arnett Moultrie to get into the game. In a lost season. Come on, Doug.
  14. 3 more assists today! He was pretty frustrating to watch last season, since you could tell how much skill he had, but he'd be so inconsistent. One thing I didn't fully realize until this season was how good of a shot he has. He was the definition of a pass-first guy, especially on the power play. Which is fine, except that he has a bad habit of turning down some wide open shots. Seems like somebody was able to convince him to shoot a bit more this season.
  15. Stating the obvious here, but this is reallllllly ugly man. I don't know what I want to happen with Bynum. Is it even worth it for him to come back? If he does and dominates for 10 games or so, that's cool I guess. It will give us something to be excited for if the Sixers can get him signed. But at what cost? How many teams will be willing to risk it on him if he shows that he can still play? I'd guess a lot. And that brings me to Doug Collins, who I am officially fed up with. I love the guy because he seems like a genuinely good guy. His press conferences are more enjoyable than any Philadelphia coach I have seen in my life time. I want to see him do well but what I feared when he was first hired looks like it is true. There is a ceiling to the potential of Collins teams. He seems to have no grasp of the situation here. Giving Spencer Hawes major minutes (and giving Kwame Brown any minutes at all) while Arnett Moultrie sits on the bench for the ENTIRE game is absolutely inexcusable. Sorry Doug, time to go. Can't coach great teams, can't coach rebuilding teams. He is the perfect guy if we want to stay painfully average for another 5 years, though.
  16. Awesome game last night. Simmonds and Voracek have been great lately.
  17. Lindy Ruff fired. I was six years old when he became the Sabres coach.
  18. Last ten minutes of tonight's episode was incredibly good.
  19. Really shitty situation for him. With that said, if he returns next year and is even 80% of the player he was pre-injury, look out! Undefeated season is a legit possibility.
  20. Quickly falling in love with Tye McGinn. He's done great filling in for Wayne Simmonds/Scott Hartnell as the power forward on Giroux's line, and now that Simmonds is back, he is quickly developing a lot of chemistry with Brayden Schenn and Jake Voracek. I always got annoyed last year when he'd always get passed up on during AHL call ups, since he always impressed me a bunch when I'd watch the Phantoms. Glad he is getting a shot now and making the most of it. Oh, and this too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAnqltjwGUo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnki0bkJwK8
  21. I agree, but I think ECN is right. We obviously have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, but if I had to guess, this is a big part of why so many around the NHL don't like the Flyers, lol.
  22. Super impressive win tonight, considering the awful game last night and the long flight. Solid contributions from all 4 lines.
  23. JvR embarrassing Schenn for the 5th TOR goal was quite fitting!
