Albert Pujols. Pujols could retire today and I'd consider him a top 5 hitter of all time, and the greatest right handed batter ever. If he plays 10 more seasons with a similar level of production to what he's done so far, he will be the greatest baseball player of all time. Yes, I said it.

This is the 12th time the Sixers have lost by double digits since the All Star break. They have only played 16 games in that time. Impressive.

Then it must be just coincidence, but there are many many cases of guys having incredible seasons in their "contract years", then turning to [expletive] as soon as they sign their big deal. And I wouldn't generalize all athletes by saying they all "have pride and are going to try". It definitely varies by case.

Ugh...Placido Polanco hurt his knee today. Also, Roy Halladay continues to own (although he did give up his first ER of the spring today ). In the "B" game today, Jamie Moyer got shelled (it was the first time he's actually faced a lineup featuring mostly MLB players, despite it being a B game). As I mentioned yesterday Kyle Kendrick continues his great spring, so the 5th starters race is getting very interesting.

Also...whoever said that Pujols would benefit by playing in Citizens Bank Park, I disagree. He'd probably hit 3-4 more homeruns per season, maybe a handful more RBIs due to hitting in a slightly better lineup, but he would lose so many singles and doubles due to the tiny outfield and relatively small gaps. But it's a moot point since this is the most ridiculous trade "rumor" I have heard in a longggg time.

Kyle Kendrick continued his great spring with 4 more innings of 2-hit shutout ball today.

Results in spring training mean absolutely nothing.

The Mets are definitely overpaying Bay, but it was a move they had to make. That was probably the only way they could have gotten him to become a Met, and they absolutely had to sign him to at least save face a little bit this offseason.

Uh....if it becomes obvious he has lost the team? What else exactly needs to happen for that to become obvious? They are losing almost every game (and are not even really competitive in most of them anymore...at least they played lots of close games earlier on). None of the players give a [expletive] anymore. There is always at least one war going on between him and a player through the media. So yeah, somebody tell me when it becomes "obvious" enough.

Cole Hamels has been awesome in his two spring appearances so far. I know it is not worth getting too excited about, since it's just spring training, but his curveball is apparently looking very very good. So that is what I am excited about.

Good chance Joe Nathan is done for the season. Huuuuuuge blow for Twins.

I am thrilled that the Eagles did not spend that kind of money on Julius Peppers. I do wish they would have made more of a run at Kampman though.

Yeah I heard Howard say that as well. Problem is, we have to remember who this is coming from. Howard's "sources" have let him down in the past. Sure hope he is right this time though. And yeah, it does make sense. There isn't much of a point to getting rid of him now.

Fantasy baseball is the second best fantasy game IMO (after football of course). My only tip is stay away from pitchers in the really early rounds. I guess it all depends on your settings though. Definitely stay away from relief pitchers until the end of the draft, you can always find some late round steals (for example, my closers last year were Jonathan Broxton and Heath Bell, and I got them pretty late). Going for big name closers early on is not the best idea. So just pay attention to the teams with closers jobs up in the air in spring training and see who they settle on.
