  1. Sixers played pretty well. Coincidence that they played their worst when Lou Williams was on the floor? Coincidence that this happens pretty much every game?
  2. This kind of reminds me of the game in Philadelphia from a few weeks ago. I am just waiting for Eddie to do something to [expletive] this up, as he did that night. So far so good, though.
  3. I'm in too many as it is Or else I would...
  4. Hopefully Lou Williams isn't as blazed tonight as he was during his video chat last night.
  5. Finland just gave up, as Pierre McGuire said. Pretty strange to see Kiprusoff pull himself out of the game.
  6. Holy [expletive]. 6-0, not even 13 minutes into the game.
  7. Also, for the record, Ed Snider is sort of just a figurehead at this point (for the Flyers and Sixers both). Yes, he signs off on all moves before they're done since he is indeed the chairman at Comcast Spectacor which is the company that owns the teams, but most of the day-to-day interactions and operations are done by Peter Luukko and some of the other head guys with the company. Snider has taken a step back in recent years, I guess mostly because of his age.
  8. Interfere with what though? I think most people were down with the Brand signing when it happened, fans and Ed Snider all included. Other than that, what is he to do? That's the most annoying part about the NBA, there is only so much that Stefanski can do no matter how much (or how little) Ed Snider is pressuring him.
  9. Eh, I am not really sure how Snider is to be blamed. He is not nearly as passionate about the 76ers as he is about the Flyers, but he also doesn't limit what Stefanski is allowed to do (from what I've heard). Also I don't know how Stefanski can really be blamed either, he has had his hands tied. Obviously, he made his own bed with the horrible Brand contract, but that's a different story. As for the on-the-court product, I'd say Eddie Jordan is absolutely most to blame for the record this season. Earlier in the season, I think we all saw all the close games they lost when he had horrible lineups on the floor in the final moments.
  10. Holy [expletive]....that is horrible in so many ways. Yet completely hilarious.
  11. Usually MSNBC or CNBC. Occasionally NBC (like today's USA game, and I'd imagine the medal games).
  12. Mostly true, but still, I find the NBA's rule to be silly. Either do what the NFL does and make them spend significant in college, or don't force them to go at all.
  13. I don't really see a reason for one. In MLB and NHL you can get drafted right out of high school (and, in the case of baseball, sign with a team even younger than that if you are a foreign import). If you are good enough, I do not see why you should not be able to enter the league.
  14. They do prank calls on his show quite frequently. Usually very entertaining.
  15. They do something like this pretty much every day, haha. Pretty [expletive]ing hilarious.
  16. See, that is what most people (myself included) said when we first got him. Apparently the league he was in is a joke (as I have posted about before). The parks were all hitters paradises. A friend of mine who knows more about baseball, and more specifically prospects, than anybody else I know, and also happens to be a Mariners fan, has said that JC Ramirez was an impressive of a starting pitching prospect as he had seen in their system. So I will take his word. He will probably start this season in Reading (AA) which is pretty close to me, so I am definitely going to give him a look if I can. I have heard him compared to Rafael Soriano in terms of "stuff".
  17. I do not really know for any of them, but... If LeBron goes to the Nets, whether they are in Brooklyn or not he will essentially be playing in NY. East Rutherford (where they are now) and Newark (where they will be for the next 2 seasons before going to Brooklyn) are both literally directly outside of the city on the New Jersey side. So it's not like he won't be in the city. With that said, I have a hunch that LeBron stays in Cleveland...
  18. Many people think JC Ramirez is better than Phillippe Aumont.
  19. The Phillies signed former Phillie-killer Brad Wilkerson to a minor league contract today. So in one winter, they signed arguably the 2 most random Phillie killers of the past decade, with the other being Brian Schneider (ironically both did most of their damage with the Montreal Expos).
  20. From Les Bowen at philly.com.... http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/Eagles_release_Westbrook_2.html
  21. Saw it coming, but yeah, still sad. Eagles "insider" Jeff McLane is reporting that Andy Reid and Jeffrey Lurie will hold a press conference later.
  22. Also...while I do understand your Lee argument (and have heard it many times from Phillies fans as well), I can't really believe you are discounting the idea of striving for a run like the '90-early 2000s Braves. One World Series in that entire time, yes, but 13 consecutive division titles is absolutely ridiculous. If that is the direction Ruben Amaro is trying to take the Phillies, I see no possible argument for how that is a bad thing. Also, just on a sheer comparison of the rosters, these Phillies and '90s Braves are really entirely different. The Braves were built for the regular season and put up some ridiculous seasons. The Phillies never really "dominate" in the regular season (at least, they haven't in the past 3 years), but they do just enough to get to the postseason and then they turn it on in October. Can't really explain why this is, you'd think that a Maddux-Smoltz-Glavine rotation would be incredible in the playoffs, but it's the facts.
  23. The Phillies won the World Series without Cliff Lee OR Roy Halladay and I have no doubt in my mind they can do it again. That point doesn't really say much.
  24. I do not agree with you at all, as I have said. The Phillies with or without Cliff Lee appear to be the best team in the National League. Keeping the farm system stacked is how you stay competitive for years and have similar runs to what the Atlanta Braves had. That is what Ruben Amaro is going for. In a video game world, I'd have loved to keep Cliff Lee. Would have been incredible for just this one season. But as somebody who also studies up on the business side of baseball as much as I can, this move is without a doubt in the best interest of the team.
