Well, I was right. The three Canuck fans I was chatting with during the game did indeed pipe down after those three goals!
-
Brian Rafalski retires. John Buccigross just pointed out that if Nick Lidstrom retires also, that is about $12 mil of cap space for the Red Wings. Wow. Obviously this is before new contracts for current players, but regardless, they will have a ton of money to play with.

Rollins Utley Polanco Howard Ibanez Ruiz Brown Mayberry Hamels Good news - Charlie has a pulse.
-
Almost as funny as this
-
Just my 2 cents....I think the Mets have to trade him. Not even a question. Basically for the reasons Fish said. And even with all of the big contracts coming off the books soon, I don't see where the money for a Reyes mega-deal comes from.
-
I don't consider Lee our #2, but regardless, I'd still take our top 2 over yours .
-
Chase Utley activated, Pete Orr optioned to Lehigh Valley. Also, Joe Blanton to DL, Vance Worley recalled, will start Tuesday. Thank goodness.

Luke Hochevar and Jeff Francis

Felix dominating the Padres lineup? NO WAY!!!
-
And the Canucks score three 5-on-3 goals in the span of less than two minutes. Guess all the Canuck fans will pipe down about officiating now.
-
Make it 16 flyballs through 8 shutout innings. Seriously, never seen a guy this mediocre look so dominant as a result of facing a bad lineup. (Not saying Harrison is mediocre, I am a fan of his, but today he was very mediocre).
-
Scott Podsednik signed to a minor league deal. Not the worst for depth purposes, I suppose.
-
Matt Harrison is not good at all today. 14 flyball outs, more walks than strikeouts, shaky command across the board. Leave it to the Phillies offense to allow him to throw a shutout through 7 innings. So unreal.

Yankee Stadium is a pretty nice place.
-
Simon Gagne is good at scoring game winning goals when his team comes back from down 3-0 vs. the Bruins.
-
Dom Brown babby.
-
Welcome back, Domonator.

Chris Iannetta should be banished from the league permanently for striking out three times against Kyle Kendrick/Danys Baez. And I should be given some sort of award for sitting through nine innings of cold, rain, Kyle Kendrick, Danys Baez, and the Phillies offense.
-
As of right now, I feel like the lineup should be... Rollins Polanco Utley Howard Mayberry LF Brown RF Victorino Ruiz Obviously pending Utley and Victorino getting fully healthy/rehabbed. But Ben Francisco has pretty much shown his bat can't be in the lineup every day. Nothing more than a 4th outfielder. The same may be the case with John Mayberry, but I have liked his approach so far this season much more than Ibanez's/Francisco's. And it's time to stop screwing around with Brown. .341/.431/.537 in AAA right now (compared to Ibanez - .225/.281/.338 and Francisco - .218/.327/.346). Not to mention, that outfield (J-Berry/Vic/Brown) would be nasty. Not sure any balls would drop in. Three guys with the range of CFs and cannons for arms. Ah, too bad this is just a pipe dream. Charlie is way too loyal to "his guys".

Danys Baez is pitching the 9th inning of a tie game on the road, and predictably, he is about to lose it. Remind me to shut up if I complain about Charlie Manuel ever getting snubbed for manager of the year.
-
I laughed very hard @ "about his brian", FYI. <3
-
Harmon Killebrew died today.
-
I finally can put how awful the Phillies offense is into words. Wilson Valdez batting 2nd, Raul Ibanez batting third. So unreal.
-
Albert Pujols is starting at third base tonight.
-
Oswalt activated, Worley optioned to AAA. What the [expletive]. Well, I guess it's good that Worley will get regular starts, but he's been very valuable in the Majors this season as a swing man. Just frustrating that Worley gets sent down while Kendrick and Baez remain on the roster.
