New year, same story.

Yes On a similar note, Dane Sardinha is catching tonight. He has caught Doc 4 times previously, and all 4 were complete game shutouts... Stuff like this fascinates me.
-
The Royals called up Eric Hosmer today.

The Vanimal is a baller. Always liked him.

Orange is a nice color on Ilya Bryzgalov.

But were you impressived?

Philadelphia sports, you slay me.

Only had 22 guys available tonight (Ruiz not ready to play, Oswalt with his family in Mississippi, Gload's grandfather passed away). Never a good situation for a 14 inning game.

Obama to address nation in a few minutes

Not trying to make light of how monumental tonight is, but for real, nights like tonight are the nights social media were made for. -
I am a huge Watkins fan. I dig the pick, it's just a bit weird considering he has a huge head start towards the Eagles "cut everybody when they hit age 30" philosophy. The consensus seems to be that the Eagles reached with the Temple kid and they probably could have waited for him in the 3rd round, but I have no idea so I will not comment. I just think it is cool that they drafted a kid out of Temple. With Mikell probably gone, it is a position of need also. I am also happy that they bit the bullet and drafted Henery rather early. Sad that Akers is gone, but at least they got the best possible replacement. Overall, I don't really have any complaints with this draft. I also do not know shit about any of the guys we got in the 5th-7th rounds, so I won't comment on them. Seems like a lot of Eagles fans can't get around the fact that Danny Watkins is 26 years old, and as a result they are labeling the entire draft a failure. This is stupid. The Eagles addressed several major areas of need. I also liked how basically every guy they picked is from a major college program. Much higher chance of success than with their old philosophy of drafting D-2 and D-3 projects.

Ah, the always useful "pull the goalie to make it look like it's his fault" tactic. Love it. Remind me to not listen to any hockey talk shows in the next 48 hours. Absolutely horrendous game. JvR and Pronger the only two guys on the ice who are even remotely visible. Boosh had one ugly one, but otherwise was left out to dry on every goal.

Somebody is mad.

Pronger played a regular shift in game 7 and Syvret barely played at all, so I will assume we are going back to 6 defensemen to start the BOS series. Carter not ready yet and Nodl still a question mark, so I'd say Shelley or Holmstrom are the safest bets to get into the lineup. I keep hearing that Rinaldo was practicing with the 4th line today. I certainly hope this is not true, he is useless in the playoffs.

Pretty fun week for the Braves. Roger McDowell on a leave of absence after his homophobic rant and Derek Lowe arrested for DUI. Ouch.
-
I like the idea behind it (kind of), but overall I am against it.
-
So the Eagles just drafted a 26 year old. Hm.
-
I'm pretty sure Oswalt left the team to be with his family because his hometown in Mississippi was about to get raped by that storm today. Just speculation. But yeah, let's just leave it to the media to send fans off the deep end by using misleading titles/quotes

Incredibly productive season. Fun to watch, tons of potential to get better. So glad that the Sixers are finally relevant and fun to watch again. Most of the props go to Doug Collins. Already pumped up for next year.

GM5: Philadelphia at Miami (MIA 3-1)
Phightins replied to Real Deal's topic in Miami Heat Team Forum
Stole a game, and competitive in 3 of the 4 losses. Realistically, probably as much as I could have hoped for. Also, finally something to like about Spencer Hawes: http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g96/philsphan1210/Picture1-61.png -
Unfortunately, this is correct. Shouldn't be that way though.

I am soooo fired up for 'Nucks-'Hawks.

Outshot Buffalo 16-2 in the first. 16-2. Yet we only lead 1-0. That period was this series in a nutshell, minus Boosh letting in a softy. Oh well, keep it up and I don't see how we lose this. Well, on second thought...

No, wins and losses are not relevant at all, regardless of the situation. Again, this guy is a good pitcher. I'd put him in the same slot as Fish. Borderline top 10. Potential to firmly take a place in the top 10 if he is dominant all year. Also, just stop it with the Cy Young talk. He has 30 starts to make. And he is a fly-ball pitcher. Talented as hell, but fly-ball pitchers are by far the hardest to predict. Can't use a 6-game sample size and attempt to project it over a full season with a guy like Weaver. Also, ironically, right after I read this thread, I read a Rob Neyer article pointing out how lucky Weaver has gotten so far this year. Well, a combination of skill and luck have led to his filthy numbers thus far this season. I would tend to agree. http://mlb.sbnation.com/2011/4/26/2134933/jered-weaver-really-good-really-lucky There is the article, by the way.
-
Did you really just reference pitcher wins in an argument about a pitcher's value, and then tell other people they don't know baseball? And not only that, you are using a sample size of LESS THAN one month. Six appearances. Good lord.

The Mogul Jered Weaver, on the other time...hall of fame!
